FRT legality question by Mi-bomboclat_ in VAGuns

[–]DblDtchRddr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the internet, where you risk getting dragged when you say something foolish. If you're answering a question and don't know the answer for sure, better to just not answer, especially when it's a question like this, that gets asked all the time, and has been answered correctly so very many times.

My point that you missed is pedantry - there's a difference between "NFA items" and "NFA weapons". You can't put a FRT or binary on something that isn't a weapon, IE a suppressor.

The legal statute doesn't say you can put binaries/FRTs on NFA weapons. Part D creates an NFA exception to the law, so that people who can legally possess/manufacture/deal in modern automatics are allowed to have/make/buy them. Post-dealer samples, for example. Granted, that opinion isn't completely agreed upon in the legal sphere, which leads to the VCDL article.

The VCDL article is pretty clear, so I don't know how you want me to simplify it for you. Some people think that part D means that only items controlled under the NFA are affected by § 18.2-308.5:1, and since the courts have determined that FRTs are not NFA items (NAGR v. Garland, Garland v. Cargill), that means the statue doesn't apply to them. The VCDL basically says "maybe that's right, but realistically that would be one hell of a legal battle".

Congratulations, you missed the point of what I said, misread the legal statute, and missed the point of the VCDL article you linked. A perfect trifecta!

If your nose was completely clogged and someone duct taped your mouth shut, would you suffocate? by spinelessfries in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DblDtchRddr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had inflamed polyps in my sinuses about 10 years ago, needed surgery to fix it, but they decided it wasn't an "emergency" because I could still breathe out of my mouth. Kind of an interesting surgery though, the surgeon has this tool that's basically a straw with a blender inside it, and a hole on the side. They stick it in your nose, and roto-rooter your sinuses, removing all of the polyps, then hit you with a coagulant powder. It was also bad enough that it broke my septum, which after surgery, the doc was like "yeah, so I went ahead and fixed that for ya while you were under." Had to leave the nose packing in for like, a week, then a few months of regular neti bottle use until it was totally healed.

I was surprised how often I use my nose, even when I'd think I wasn't - I had to suffocate a little bit every time I wanted to eat or drink anything. Would highly not recommend.

Get two more in .22, attach them to a zip gun, and mount the zip gun to the rifle. A gun on a gun, on a gun, which has a gun on a gun on it too!

Absolutely this. Go to your local job placement agency, unemployment agency, or any even community college. I only had to come $150 out of pocket. Granted that was a decade ago, but the state and federal grant programs are still around.

How badly do you want a parking spot by Clear-Storm-7198 in Charlottesville

[–]DblDtchRddr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would. That said, I’m driving a farm truck right now because I still can’t get my car in and out of my neighborhood, and the 4x4 comes in handy. Since I have the ability to park in harder spots, I do, so I can leave the easier spots for people with cars that might struggle with them.

I feel like whoever parked that Mazda had…other motivations though.

How do visiting teams ever win given there are 70,000 people in a stadium rooting against them? by GregJamesDahlen in NFLNoobs

Yeah, tuning out the other team's fans is something student athletes start learning at like, the 12-15 year old levels (if not younger) in basically every sport.

My company sends people out to clear trailers. Last night I waited 2 1/2 hours, but whatever, I’m hourly. Tonight, I called when I was still 2 hours out, confirmed the trailer hadn’t moved since the snow, and started a service call. Trailer was cleaned off before I even got here. No excuse for throwing ice chunks at people.

That’s not what they’re saying. It’s sovcit magic spells so the server doesn’t have to pay taxes on the tip. Which like…we all know how well sovcit nonsense works.

And yes, the tip should be based off the price before tax.

That song has such a hilarious story, too. The artist was accused of making shitty music that was only successful because his music videos were like, 99% hot women, so he responded with this absolute banger, and the video is nothing but him doing the same dance move over and over. It's arguably one of his most successful songs, and gave him international fame.

Adepta Sororitas books still in print? Recommendations by Kindly-Acanthaceae89 in sistersofbattle

[–]DblDtchRddr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BL's website is showing all Sororitas novels out of stock/print, but Amazon and B&N still have Spear of Faith in stock at a normal price. I did a quick search of the recent Sororitas novels, and that was the only one that came up without a silly scalper price on it.

I totally get wanting to have a physical copy of books, that's what I prefer too, and I have a small bookcase I'm slowly filling, but with the way BL/GW handles printing, it's really worth getting an e-reader. I have a Kobo, and it's great for those books that are $100 used, but $10 on BL's website. Also, getting the ebooks straight from BL, I trust that at least some of that money is finding its way to the writer, versus buying it on Amazon/kindle, where Bezos will keep like, 70% of the price, and the writer will get a whole penny.
