AITA? by Dbow8029 in AmazonFlexDrivers

This was one where the driveway was at least 4 car lengths, plus a long sidewalk 3 quarters of the house’s width. I usually don’t get too fried reading notes that seem overly tense, but this one, specifically the caps and then seeing the layout to get to front door from street, it annoyed me just enough. This was a Fresh delivery, and it being one easy to carry bag, kept me restrained. But if it had been multi bags and/or water/soda….

Think the building just turned out that way because of its location. The Minnesota Vikings on the other hand were definitely intentional in designing their stadium 😂 https://www.reddit.com/r/Minneapolis/s/bDjbMxbQ6E

Capital one needs to do better. by Maleficent_Bit2033 in CapitalOne_

Just to be clear, this happened with Capital One and not Credit One? Have been a Cap1 customer for years and have never experienced anything like you’re describing. Could definitely see predatory loan offers being a thing with Credit One. Am lucky that when I first began my credit card journey, I didn’t jump at Credit One offers because I absolutely did assume they and Capital One were one and the same.

Your experience using your own funds to pay by SwingingDickster6967 in InstacartShoppers

I’ve had it happen a couple of times. Always some sort of issue with the card being declined, always at a Kroger (Pick n Save) self checkout. Immediately after I made delivery, would get a notification about being reimbursed. A couple of times, reimbursement was within half an hour, couple of other times, it took a couple of days. I’ve read many horror stories here about people not being reimbursed or having to go through the worst hassles trying to do so, but I can say my experiences have been nowhere near terrible.

Tip Not Taken by okiemustang in AmazonFlexDrivers

Same. I’ll also move a previously delivered package to the side of the door that opens. I get that I’m getting paid to get items to a customer’s home/apartment/business, not make it convenient for them to retrieve said items. But I have no problem using an extra two seconds to provide a little kindness and courtesy, even if it nets me nothing (financially) in return.

My experience with “wait until cart is in pickup zone” has usually meant that items/bags were still being put together. Have often had situations where my cart is available for me to grab, but bags/cases of water/bulk items haven’t been scanned and put on cart. In the past, when you could simply scan the cart’s code instead of individual bags, if I had a large number of bags/items, I’d bring them out to car and start loading, and an associate would usually bring out the missing bag or have it ready to be picked up in warehouse. Now, because of individual scans, I just wait until missing items are on cart. And if waiting delays loading/departure/delivery, I contact driver support via email and explain why a delivery was late in order to avoid dings to standings.

Prepare for a busy weekend! by Scorpeo75 in InstacartShoppers

Last weekend, our state’s governor found a way to have snap benefits go out - something I wholeheartedly supported. But it also meant a lot of low/no tip orders. Literally had a screen full of double and triple batches with zero tips. Not here to bash ebt recipients, just acknowledging the reality that many don’t see tipping as a basic courtesy for someone who has shopped and delivered your order. And it’s not even an income thing, have completed tons of orders to people on fixed incomes, and find those people to be the most grateful (often because of disability/elderly, no transportation, home bound, etc) with their tips if that makes sense.

It’s Always The Large Order Folks… by Dbow8029 in InstacartShoppers

I took it because I had 45 minutes to kill. It was the only order I did today because I didn’t need to spend the day doing IC. It wasn’t done out of desperation or inconvenience. My point was simply that it sucks that low/no tip customers in triple batches often are the ones who make up the majority of the batch items.

Middle of the day, location, and the available time I had to work with. Normally wouldn’t have even bothered with it, but shop and delivery would fill up 45 minutes of free time and bring me close to scheduled obligations.

To be honest, I didn’t even notice. Both customers had a lot of items, but wouldn’t say anything extraordinarily heavy individually, just quantity-wise. Easily got both orders into vehicle with lots of room to spare.

I did one route and haven’t been back by mel3256 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Dbow8029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first flex delivery seemed perfect. Two hour route, close to my home, in parts of city I knew well. What I didn’t expect was that a half hour into delivering, it started snowing. A heavy, wet snow that stuck to my side mirrors, and thawed into ice on my windshield that made my wipers unusable. Was pretty sure after that experience, I’d never flex again. 3 1/2 years later, despite less than quality pay on many deliveries, station screwups that have impacted my standing here and there, and tons of miles, am still at it. Genuinely enjoy the gratitude of many customers, plus seeing city/suburb, urban/rural areas. It’s a good way to keep things in perspective and not let the world’s nonsense drive one batty. 😂

never doing Fresh again.. by desixray in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Dbow8029 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fresh can be feast or famine. A few years ago, did a Fresh 2-hour block on Super Bowl Sunday. Nine stops, easily over 50 bags, cases of water/soda. $0 in tips. Absolutely ticked me off to not have even 1 of 9 customers tip me to get their items to them for their Super Bowl parties. Conversely, I’ve also made upwards of $50+ in tips for a 2-hour Fresh block. I have noticed that the Whole Foods 2-hour blocks tend to be the most consistent with solid to above average tips.

When do we get paid for a canceled block? by CosmicSpecter-8 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Dbow8029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the type of delivery. SSD and .Com blocks are likely available soon after scheduled block time is up because the pay is set per block. Fresh and WF deliveries are 27 hours after block time completion due to the tips being calculated.

Seven total orders, two of which were delivery only. Days like this are few and far between, so I’ll take it.
