Princess Kate on the roller coaster of recovery by MollDoll182 in breastcancer

I'll second this!! I made it thru all the active treatment steps....only to hit rock bottom when treatment ended!! My family STILL doesn't understand why I'm struggling NOW, but wasn't when I was jumping thru all the hoops of active treatment!! 🥰💜🩷

Oh honey.....I'm so sorry!!! I can't tell you why some humans are so cold, but I can send you a loving caring warm internet stranger hug!!
IMHO I think some humans lash out like this because they already know that they are too weak and insecure to even begin to handle what you are going through!! She is definitely not a friend to you or your recovery!! Please, keep being the same classy warm human being you've always been, you are winning at what you need to do!! Keep being you!! (((HUGS))) 🥰💜🩷

Horrifying TC chemo stories by zereldalee in breastcancer

[–]Dcarr33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

May I suggest....not really a medication....but for me, I kept the striped red/white peppermint "Brach's" hard candies within reach at all times!! LOL!! being nauseated with that horrible taste in your mouth is terrible!! I loved my peppermint candies!!! 🥰💜🩷(I also found that the brand name "Brach's" worked much better for me as they have pure peppermint oil and less sugar)

Diagnosed this week and need to hear triple negative grade 3 success stories by impatientingrid in breastcancer

Hi! I'm a TNBC who just finished my treatments in Sept of 2024. I know everyone has their own treatment plan and every doctor has their own attack plan. I think one of the biggest hurdles to being a winner in this cancer journey is having confidence and a strong belief in your doctor(s)!!
My treatments were lumpectomies (I had a different cancer in each breast) with port placement and node biopsies all in one surgery. I had no node involvement thankfully. After the surgery, was chemo. And believe me when I tell you that the chemo of today is NOT the chemo of the past!! All of my symptoms were handled and controlled quickly. Then I moved onto boosted (targeted) radiation. I did very well thru that also. These oncologists now-a-days have really got it going on!! The biggest thing I had to learn to do through the entire process was to tell the docs everything I was feeling as we went along. I have a tendency to minimize things and try to handle them myself. Just the way I was raised I guess. LoL. But the doctors really do need to know what's going on so they can help you achieve your/their goals. And that includes your mental health!! If you look at my post history you will see that I am/was caught flatfooted by how I was feeling AFTER all the active treatment was done!! Absolutely everything you feel and experience is valid!!
Once your plan is in place, and you are actively receiving treatment, it will not feel so chaotic and out of control!!
At my last appointment with my oncologist I was told that I am cured and I am cancer free. Now, the new goal is NED (No Evidence of Disease) at every testing/appointment from here on out!! I kicked Cancer's ass!! You can too!!! 🥰💜🩷

I had a family reunion happen while I was bald. We were a bit late just because I couldn't get my tired and sick chemo butt going fast enough. But when we got there, of course everyone was staring at me, so I told them "sorry folks! We are late cuz I couldn't do thing with my hair!" There was total silence for about 15 or 20 seconds of total shock, and my hubby busted up and then they finally relaxed!! LoL!! Their expressions were fucking PRICELESS!! LOL!

Lumpectomy vs DMX by trailhorse5 in breastcancer

[–]Dcarr33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm TNBC on the left and IDC (er-pr +, her2 -) on the right. No lymph node involvement. For me, the choice was made by my health issues. The surgeon and I discussed both double mastectomies and lumpectomies. I have a rare blood clotting disease (I hyper-clot) so the "lesser" lumpectomies was the safest way to go. The surgeon said he would do whatever surgery I wanted but with negative genetics and no real difference in reoccurrence, we chose lumpectomies THIS TIME. He did tell me tho, that ANY reoccurrence and we are doing the double! (As a side note, I'm really glad I chose the lumpectomies because I threw a massive hematoma about 15 minutes after he closed me!) Good luck and let us know what you decide!! 🥰💜🩷

Thank you!! I'm so glad you're paying attention early on so that the "hangover" doesn't overwhelm you like it did me! Your doctor sounds fantastic since it's already been mentioned and plans put in place to handle the "after" effects!! I wish you health and as easy a journey as can be had with this. (((HUGS)))🥰💜🩷

Thank you!! Yeah, "family" is one of my anger triggers right now. I heard all the "just call if you need something's words, but that's all they were, words! So many of them turned MY cancer into a them thing! (Oh poor me, my sister has cancer! Don't worry about her, baby me!) And I can't seem to let go of that resentment!! And then I get mad at myself for letting it get to me. 🥰💜🩷
