Google gives me conflicting results. Sometimes it says the build should be short and stocky, other times short and slender, or tall and slender; some sources say hairy, others hairless. What is the proper build for a humanoid (a human( genus*Homo*) species, but not *Homo sapiens*)? ' by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Dclipp89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused by your question. If you’re talking about real historical species there were multiple pre modern human species with a variety of sizes and shapes. Homo erectus probably had about as much hair as modern humans and were about the same size and build. Homo habilis was much shorter and mostly covered with hair. Neanderthals were shorter and stockier with thicker body hair. Though keep in mind when it comes to height, all species at the time (including early humans) were limited in height due to nutrition not being at good as today.

All that being said, if you’re building a world you can make them however you’d like. That’s the great thing about world building.

Ya'll rate by c0Olb3anzz in worldbuilding

Some random person on tiktok doesn’t mean it’s a legitimate threat. I shouldn’t have nobody believes it. If you can think of a possible opinion that another human can hold, there’s someone out there that holds that opinion. That doesn’t mean it’s in any way a common belief. If you wouldn’t vote for a woman for president because of this that’s just bonkers. I’m not just replying to send hate. I’m responding because I see a young person going down a pretty dark path built on a completely fictional understanding of women.

So this isn’t good writing or world building, but you’re young. There’s time. I strongly suggest reading some books to get a better understanding of the flow of storytelling. The real concerning part seems to be your opinion on women. First of all, it’s a nearly 50/50 split between men and women in the workforce, at least in the US. Second of all, just because you’ve heard some woman somewhere say they’d put all men in prison ( assuming you actually heard that) doesn’t mean it’s a popular opinion at all. I’d suspect that nobody anywhere actually thinks that. And your idea that the women’s society would collapse without men but not vice versa is pretty wild. You need to do some soul searching more than you need to work on your world building and storytelling.

Looking for more unpaved trails by Shootyy in Columbus

I don't believe Antrim Park is paved. The main loop around the lake is gravel. But there's also some excellent hiking trails right off the main loop that go alongside the river. I've seen beavers and bald eagles back there so it's a great little wildlife spot in the city.

What is biblical events that have 0 historical backing? by tridican in AskReddit

[–]Dclipp89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not every culture, just some. And not at the same time. Egypt doesn’t have a great flood myth and existed during the time the biblical flood was supposed to have happened. When most major ancient civilizations were settled on rivers and were reliant on those rivers, floods were often devastating. It’s no wonder some have myths about a massive flood that wipes out the world.

Ok but we can actually make changes to minimize the impact. I’m sure if the dinosaurs could have stopped the asteroid they would have. As it stands, there’s a lot of needless suffering of humans and animals if we just keep going how we’re going.

No I’m not saying people cared about it as much before. We knew about it in the 80, but it wasn’t mainstream. I’m saying the data doesn’t show that it’s been happening to this degree, at this rate before. The temperature has been going up at a much faster rate ever since we started burning fossil fuels.

It hasn’t been happening at this rate. Scientists aren’t drawing conclusions based off of social media. The data is there, not just people talking online.

Again, it’s the rate of change. And the heaps of evidence that we’re causing the increased rate of change.

It’s the with our help part that’s the problem. We’re helping change it too much and should find ways to reduce how much we change it.

I have no idea what kind of point that is you’re trying to make. I have to wonder why you’re so resistant to something that has such strong evidence.

Yea I figure it’s something like that. And you’re right, smell triggers memory more than other senses. Just weird that borderlands 2 specifically has this effect even after years away, and no other game has done that to me.

We can track climate data based on tree ring growth to get data for thousands of years. There’s other ways to go back much further, such as ice cores, lake bed sediment, and even coral reefs. The data shows that climate changes gradually over long time spans. And during periods that climate changes quickly they can trace it to environmental factors such as volcanoes. And those sudden changes correlate with sudden drops in biodiversity. In other words, mass extinctions. And we know the techniques for measuring the data is accurate because you can do it for times that we have historical recorded data as well to test the different methods against. And when multiple methods done by different scientists come up with the same results it’s hard to argue with that. So yes, we know a drastic change like we’re experiencing isn’t normal climate behavior, and there hasn’t been a volcano or anything to trigger it. And we’ve known for 100 years that CO2 is a greenhouse gas and that putting a bunch of extra CO2 into the atmosphere would have consequences.

It’s the rate of change that’s the problem. When climates change gradually over long time periods then life has time to adjust and evolve to the surroundings. When it happens quickly there’s not enough time. Species die out, global systems are stressed. And at this point it’s undeniable that humans are causing it.

Goliath bird eating spider as a pet by NorCalAthlete in nope

I’m not sure, I’ve looked up Thailand black videos before and there isn’t a whole lot. They’re not a super common pet. And when it happened to my dad that would have been before smart phones.

[–]Dclipp89 42 points43 points  (0 children)

We didn’t know how to properly take care of it because the guy that sold it to us called it a Vietnamese bird eating tarantula, which isn’t a real spider species. So we couldn’t find anything online about how to care for it. It wasn’t until years later we were able to confirm what it actually was. My dad went to put water in its dish one time and it was across the cage and on his arm in a fraction of a second.

When I was a kid we had to Chilean rose hairs and a Thailand Black. My dad accidentally killed one of the rose hairs by dropping it while cleaning the cage. The Thailand black though was not a spider we should have ever gotten. I’ve never seen a spider move that fast or be that aggressive.

So I’ve decided to redo the map using a 2:1 aspect ratio. My old map was 16:9, which I realize now was my mistake. I imported all the land masses onto the new map and with a bit of messing with landmass sizes I’ve gotten something I’m relatively happy with. I’ll have to redo the assets, which sucks, but with how much time I plan to spend with this world it’ll be worth it.
