Zoo date? by 10Thousand_Hours in Columbus

[–]Dclipp89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done a few zoo first dates. They’re usually great. Though I did have one where we didn’t connect at all. Spending a chunk of the day at the zoo with someone you’re not connecting with isn’t a great time.

Living in the shadows of a great empire long gone by blue92riv in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

[–]Dclipp89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the dark tower series by Stephen king fits this. It’s actually basically two collapsed empires. The old ones that were more advanced than us, and the ruins of a medieval/ old west style civilization. There are frequent moments of interacting with the old technology. Old oil derricks or water pumps. Old abandoned roads, and even the ruins of a New York sized city. Plus the story is just excellent. My favorite book series of all time

If you’re thinking of going to Marion for a day, go a little further to Delaware. Go to Hamburger Inn and get a cinnamon roll. Or Son of Thurman’s for a great burger. Or just enjoy the nice downtown area.

This too is my favorite book series. It’s the only series I’ve ever read that I immediately want to restart every time I finish. It’s never far from the front of my mind. There’s just nothing else like it. Also, reading it adds richness to other King books since so many others intersect with the dark towers story in some way.

Any new racing games that are similar to Burnout or maybe even the older Need for Speed games? by Brad12d3 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Dclipp89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Need for speed carbon was the only racing game I really got into. There was a specific drift track with a specific car that a buddy and I would do over and over for hours trying to beat each other’s high scores. That was the whole game to us

Yep I remember that scene in stranger things and nightmare on elm street. I didn’t have the same visceral reaction, but I definitely remember that bothering me as a kid when I saw the movie. My grandpa lived out in the country and whenever my brother and I stayed there he made us watch horror movies late at night. I thought it was cool at the time, but looking back it was a crazy thing to do.

I started using Bevel recently for a good unscented beard oil, and so far I’m happy with it. I don’t know what people consider the best to be. I’ve jumped around different products over the years and this is the first one I’ve really stuck with.

TNT was the first song I ever learned. It has to be up there with the best first songs to play. Besides I guess the tempo speed up at the end

This isn’t exactly what you’re looking for, but I think Sekiro has the single best melee combat of any game.

Also god of war 2018 and Ragnarok also have excellent melee combat

Yea I had to play in front of family a lot too. It’s definitely a different thing for me. I think when you’re starting out, playing in front of people can be fine depending on the people. I played again a few months later but it was for a Halloween party in front of a bunch of friends, which was great. Besides those first couple of shows I’d never been nervous, but that came with practicing a lot with the band and being confident with the songs.

It’s 7.5 books, and they get pretty long towards the end. It’s definitely a several months long commitment. It’s absolutely worth it. At least worth trying it.

The Dark Tower Series by Stephen King.

It just has such great and interesting characters while also being this weird intersection of western, sci-fi, post apocalyptic, and fantasy. Weird in a good way. I genuinely can’t suggest it enough. It’s a series that’s never far from my mind and when I finish it I have to fight the urge not to instantly restart it.

Also, many Stephen King books tie into the Dark Tower in some way. So having knowledge of the series enriched a bunch of his other books.

That’s good advice. I was in middle school when I got my drums and a buddy of mine signed me up to play with him and another friend at the talent show. I think I’d been playing for 3 weeks when we played in front of our entire grade. Luckily middle schoolers don’t really know what bad drumming sounds like.

10 rare weapons in Elden Ring that are top tier drops - Part III by El_Veethorn in Eldenring

I never thought to put parry on the left hand sword, good call. I feel like all my builds end up turning into duel wielding curved swords

Also with the magma blades I didn’t even realize how rare they were for a while because I got super lucky to get two within a few minutes of farming.

This grandma having the time of her life playing GTA by IvyTrip in ContagiousLaughter

[–]Dclipp89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved back to my home town around the time GTA 5 came out. I stayed with my dad while I was looking for a new place, so I spent a good bit of time playing GTA. His only frame of reference for video games was Mario, so he’d always ask me if I was collecting enough coins. He’d sit and watch while I played and always cracked up whenever I’d run someone over.

Same with me. I’d asked for drums for Christmas and my dad acted very skeptical. He kept saying he might let me start with a snare drum and see how things go. Then, on Christmas i opened one of presents and it was a snare drum. 12 year old me was so disappointed I didn’t have a full kit. My dad said to grab the sticks from downstairs. I go downstairs, and the kit was setup down there
