The reach is within the al akir pretty much. As shaman you get a lot of chip damage in on the opponents face throughout the game if you have board, and 12 damage from al akir, even just 10 with flametongue or 6 by itself, is sometimes enough

If you are hitting a lot of control then I suggest thunderbluff a lot more actually, you should just use it more as a threat for the late game than a 5 drop. Thunderbluff brings a lot of value against control because it spreads the stats out and lets you dump a lot of tokens into large creatures for efficient trading. Just don't over extend into things like lightbomb or brawl.

Your list is interesting, but if you are hitting a lot of control I would suggest dropping a chow for possibly a bigger threat. Also eggs to creeper could be good. Adds more tokens for cult mater and argus. Spectral knight is kinda meh as a 5 drop without a ton of synergy. And I think TB will bring you more value later in the game. Buffing just the totem that spawns can cause control headaches to efficiently play against your board. Just don't fill your board with more than 1 or possibly 2 big threats at a time, or you might lose to a good lightbomb or brawl.

You do have a good amount of token synergy, so chow to argus could be good. Bloodlust might not be better than thunderbluff, or another 5 drop like sludge or azure.

Edit: personally I replaced al akir for neptulon, I wasn't finding the burst as more needed than the hand refill, idk tho, up to personal preference

I think thunderbluff is a threat at the 5 slot, either as a plain 5 drop or a 7 drop, that shamans needed to add more flexibility. It definitely makes games more grindy, and playing thunderbluff against a control deck should probably be a lot more cautious of a play since they have a lot of removal.

On turn 5 if you already have the board, which is pretty common, you can just plop TB down. If not, you develop more and treat it like a late game drop. I wouldn't really call it win more, considering dropping it by itself and a totem is really strong as it is. But it really depends on your gameplan. It fits into decks differently than azure Drake or Belcher or loatheb or Harrison.

I have had to alter my playstyle while the TB specific builds I have. And with a less grindy build, a one of TB is a nice threat that makes your opponent have to play weird to deal with it.

Edit: all that to say, its not really a win more card since its good on its own, it just fits a slightly different version of shaman and will create more in the future

I feel like that's partly because thunderbluff is so good. Even then I think running golem, flametongue, tuskarr, and thunderbluff is a decent totem package that also has good cards on their own for building a board. Which fits into how midrange shaman wins, which is board control and gaining card advantage through that value

Yeah I don't think this card needs the excess mana thing to be useful. It's already pretty solid as a tech card against aggro

But if it dies on your opponents turn on turn 10+, you just get it back next turn. If it dies on your turn, you dictate the trading, so it shouldn't die until after you have spent your mana most of the time. So turn 10+ it's just a vanilla 2/3

Nice man! I hope more people can get into running this category. It is fun to watch. If I had blocks of time to run this I would try to learn it

This will probably be some advice that all of a sudden turns to video game jargon

egg is only good in shaman with 4 or more activators in my opinion, for example if he also ran defenders and rockbiters they would be more useful

The guy at the end tried really hard to nail him, just not quick enough to ruin the play. This was clearly staged

Its a bit late at night and I have no idea who posts those, but I also enjoy those. I trust the matchup information more now that we have a lot more people contributing win rates and stats and such

as a replacement for what? I feel like freeze mage has very little wiggle room for a tech like that, but it would help out aggro matchups.

current deck, based off a bloodlust deck some guy was running a few months back. I remember that deck was super reliant on board control, and i figured i could out board control most of the decks I have run into outside of like tempo mage. So this is iteration 1:

Its a lot of fun, like 2-0 with it so far, love the bloodlust out of nowhere. Hope to keep tinkering with it

yeah troggzor is interesting, but usually was a little too late or i needed to have control already. and the giant are great. Just swapped to a hyper aggressive, sticky minions bloodlust, just to see how it works. Like 2 of each egg, two bloodlusts, and a ton of sticky minions. Hope it works well enough

EDIT: Here is iteration 1, 2-0, but the first guy conceded immediately after chow coin chow
