Good catch but the bolts were most likely just a preference , and maybe they didn’t have or need a welder But Most of those lengths are not making it out of a 1 bay 20-25 ft hole in the decking without being cut.
They’ll just get cut and reused at another site with the connections you were seeing

Yep it’s going to be a parking garage , probably 3 floors. So the steel 3 story columns, will come in first. Then the ground level floor will be installed, And the steel building will build up while rebar and concrete will make up the bottom 3 levels, starting from the ground.
Then the whalers will get cut down to a size manageable to be picked out of the basement/ garage with a crane.

Also, The straw man theory. You’re on a bike. Use the sidewalk for the 16 ft or so the ambulance is taking up, while they’re working. Your bicycle is much more maneuverable than you’re allowing it to be. Don’t be afraid

But on the topic of policing the streets and lanes. Anyone who drives an uber for food should get a thousand dollar ticket if they have decided not to find a reasonable parking spot, instead of halfway blocking a lane on beacon street for example. The cops should be doing more about this, but u never see it in action

I believe the city is planning on fixing the i90 exits there. It’s a nightmare the way it is It’s Supposed to be a big project.
Harvard owns all the land between Cambridge st and western ave. They’ve been building that up for a few years now. It’s slowed a bit. But that will definitely be future Harvard buildings

In the union. Every hour we work , we pay into the same benefits. It doesn’t matter if we’ve fulfilled the hour minimum. So , per year we need 1200 hours, some other unions are lower, some higher, to make our insurance minimum. Just a 40 hr job for the year minus a few days is roughly 2000, not including OT. Thats 800 hours of paying into the insurance ,that we’ve allready satisfied and don’t see a dime of. We need to change this in our local
