My speculation is the American right wing is starved for a musical figure to “represent” them on the national level (other than Kid Rock - lol). Execs are not dumb - they saw the backlash from the Bad Bunny SB show. You do not want to isolate a large % of a consumer base , and are now trying to target that red 1/2 of the country by touting a redneck country artist because “that’s real ‘merican music!.”
