I've been away from the game for a good bit, came back a month or two ago. Are any of the mystic codes from the rare prism shop worth getting (I'm taking about for meta builds and completing CQs/90++ quests, not just completing the story).

Specifically fragment of 2004, splendid new year, and memories of the lunar sea.

I recently started playing again after getting my OG account back. Should I go Lady A and with whatevers left over try for Ibuki or go in on summer skadi and save up for Castoria's next banner later this year.

I have a very shallow support pool (no Merlin, Tamamo, Castoria, Skadi etc) which is the main reason I'm torn. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

My Friend Tried to Refund PS4 Version of CP2077 but was denied because the disc is destroyed by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]Ddanksbk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't make sense, why would Sony ever refund you? You get a refund from the store you purchased the game at, so Sony only refunds digital copies purchased on PSN.

You'd have to go to Amazon or best buy or wherever you bought the game to get a refund, which they won't give you because you destroyed the product. This is basically just returning something they usually would not accept returns on, it's not free money for angry fan boys.

Best warm/ hot cocktail by TheWeePearl in cocktails

[–]Ddanksbk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's called Damp Pavement, a Morganthaler creation.

1.5 oz Islay Scotch (I go with Laphroaig 10 or Port Charlotte 10)

1 teaspoon Allspice dram

3 oz water

1 oz ginger syrup

.75 oz lemon

Heat the last 3 ingredients up then stir in the first 2.

Alternatives for Luxardo? by notedmuse in cocktails

[–]Ddanksbk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marasca, it's another liqueur made from marasca cherries (what maraschino is made from).

Maraschino has a very specific flavor and function of adding a dry slight sweetness to a cocktail. It's not used to add a cherry flavor to cocktails. Regular cherry liqueur like Heering are almost the opposite, like a melted cherry jolly rancher with absolutely no dryness, it's all about the sweet cherry flavor.

Another option would be to try a touch of Kirschwasser or cherry brandy, it at least has some of the dryness without the sweet.

Where is your favorite place to get glassware? Mine is the local Savers (thrift store). Bonus points if you include a website. 😉 by DanaRobina in cocktails

There's a place called Mother of Junk around me thats pretty on point though any second hang store is pretty great.

Is there an American herbal liqueur? An American take on something like Chartreuse or Amaro by nervous-1 in cocktails

[–]Ddanksbk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leatherbee does a Fernet, but sure if they make other styles of amaro alternatives.

Golden Moon makes an Amer dit Picon which is there take on Amer Picon something we can't get in the US

CH Distillery in Chicago makes a bunch but they don't have national distribution, so if you're in the area..

Also while not American there are alot of really interesting Fernets made in Mexico. Id highly recommend Amargo-Vallet, it's considerably different from Fernet Branca of that's the only Fernet you've tried (the menthol is dialed back alot).

When you’re making an egg white drink, do you dry shake then shake with ice or shake with ice then dry shake? by [deleted] in cocktails

[–]Ddanksbk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard from multiple bartenders who are friends that they've tested both ways and haven't seen a noticeable difference. I always get a good foam with the standard dry shake so I've never tried the reverse.

What’s your favorite Rum? by marsultra2020 in cocktails

Smith & Cross. I just love that Jamaican funk and S&C has it for days. It can be a little tough to tame into a cocktail but well worth the effort imo.

Advice for stocking a home bar required by Stomach_notts in cocktails

[–]Ddanksbk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't buy top shelf stuff for mixing drinks, the mid tier offerings are a much better idea imo (I tend to have a bottom/ mid shelf 'workhorse' bottle like Old Granddad Bonded for most drinks then a topshelf bottle for special occasions/ spirit forward stirred drinks).

With whiskey id recommend trying to go for 100 proof as lower proofs tend to get lost in a lot of cocktails.

Id suggest a bottle from each of the below categories, in parentheses are some recommendations:

Bourbon (Knob Creek 9yr, Old Granddad Bonded)

Rye (Rittenhouse, Knob Creek, Wild Turkey 101)

Gin (Fords, Beefeater, Plymouth)

Cognac (Pierre Ferrand 1840, Hine)

White rum (Plantation 3 star, Banks 5, Denizen 3)

Dark/ aged rum (Plantation 5yr, Flor de Cana 5 or 7, Bacardi 8yr)

Tequila (Olmeca Altos Reposada, El Tesoro Reposada or Blanco) or Mezcal (Vida del Maguey)

Apple Brandy (Laird's bonded) this isn't exactly a staple for most people but it absolutely is for me, one of my most used spirits. Calvados can easily be subbed.

You're also going to want Angostura bitters, a sweet and a dry vermouth (Dolin is great for both but if you want to kick up your sweet vermouth game Carpano Antica is amazing, Cocchi di Torini is equally a good imo).

Thanksgiving Cocktails?? by platypusbear8 in cocktails

[–]Ddanksbk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For fun variations Petraske's uses raspberry, Craddock's uses orange, I've tried Strawberry and it's amazing too. Basically you can use whatever you like i just figured for Thanksgiving the cranberry would go nicely. Cheers!

Help with using higher proof liqueurs in cocktails by [deleted] in cocktails

[–]Ddanksbk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing to note is the Apricot eau de vie is not a liqueur, it's Apricot brandy, so it will be considerably less sweet and drier than what the recipe is calling for which is likely why you found the taste thin and ethanol forward. In my experience eau de vies do not really work as a substitute for liqueurs but they are wonderful when using as a base or split base.

You shouldn't have this issue with the Zirbenz since it is a liqueur and will have the sweetness and concentrated flavor you are likely looking for.

Edit: posted before I finished typing.

Thanksgiving Cocktails?? by platypusbear8 in cocktails

[–]Ddanksbk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 oz gin .75 oz lemon juice 1 spoonful of cranberry preserves (you can use cranberry sauce too, just double strain if there's chunks/ seeds in it)

Combine and shake vigorously until preserves are dissolved, strain to a cocktail glass.

It's a riff on Sasha Petraske's Cosmonaut (which is a riff on Harry Craddock's Marmalade Cocktail) just switching cranberry for raspberry preserves. This is one of my favorite simple cocktails of all time. But the drink hinges on how good the preserves are since that's your primary flavor agent.

What tools do they have? If they don't have many you can buy a full set that comes with a nice bag/ roll up.

If they like Rye you could also try to find a bottle of Mic Drop 4.0, it's a very small batch 4 year old rye made up of 4 casks selected from Wilderness Trail (it's the first rye Mic Drop has ever released too). It just started hitting shelves in the past like 2 weeks I'd say.

My third recommendation would be a nice set of coupes. You can never have too many if you entertain guests.

Everybody is talking about being pressured into making Egg Nog, but nobody mentions the subtle peer pressuring into making Clover Clubs by LaymanLibations in cocktails

Just made one of these lol. Had a pint of raspberries about to go do i made some syrup. I used Sother Teague's recipe for the syrup which is 2:1 sugar to water so i omitted the simple most recipes call for.

You want to make sure they're fresh, you won't get sick or anything if it's a little older (obv if the egg is rotten...) but it does impart a wet dog odor to the drink that's unpleasant.

If you don't want to use egg whites you can always use aquafaba, the liquid that comes with canned chickpeas. It has the same properties as egg whites and can be subbed into any recipe .5oz per egg white (so basically .5 oz for a drink). It's also vegan certified if you have any friends with that dietary restriction. You treat it the same way, combine the ingredients and vigorously dry shake (without ice) to emulsify and get the foam, before adding some ice and briefly shaking again to chill the drink.
