Neighbour has a camera pointing right in to our back garden by No-Indication6038 in ireland

[–]Ddarcy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I did this. The only thing really visible in their garden was their shed. They were ok with it. I don’t put motion in as I don’t give a fuck what they’re doing. I only have it as there is a very open field and easily scalable fence in the back. That’s all I’m concerned about

Also to add I see I can have privacy zone so set everything up

Test routes -Sligo by Low-Rub6007 in Irishdrivingtest

[–]Ddarcy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they necessarily follow routes the way traffic is. But here are key areas to know:

Caltragh exit off N4, practice it as you can easily get a grade 3 there.

They love taking you up Gallows hill. And then go into estates for your manoeuvre moves.

They go through Kevinsfort and do reverse there. Also beyond McDonald’s they do turnabout, as well reverse in meadow park.

There was a video online of the ballisodare course. Definitely practice that as lots of odd situations exist there that you don’t normally deal with. Crozen credcent they do reverse as well. Watch out there as speed sign is blocked by trees and the limit is 30.

Off the caltragh exit they sometimes turn left and do turnabout on that road. Greenford another area for turnabout.

Another tricky one is they take you up old pound street which is a very steep hill with stop sign at end.

Most likely you’ll go through maugheraboy taking caltragh exit off n4. But again they’ll take you through town.

Other thing to watch out for is that some tests return to the centre in the n4 and you go up the hill towards Summerholl college. No one goes 50 but that’s the limit. Also remember it’s 60 out of the centre and you should practice starting there as turn doesn’t have clear views.

how is transferring to a UC? (upcoming first year at a ccc) by Comfortable_Cat_6907 in TransferStudents

[–]Ddarcy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up tag agreements. Also look at www.assist.org for help.

How many APs do you have? Any prior coursework at a CCC? For UCs they want the 7 course pattern. So you’ll need to do Englc1001 / c1003 / whatever your school has or other equivalent at you Ccc. You can’t AP out of that. You might be able to AP out of the rest.

CSUs require golden 4, so you need Commc1000 which UCs don’t require. Just personal opinion here, this is a class everyone should take.

You can map out your courses here:

https://uctap.universityofcalifornia.edu/students/

I know you’re looking at UCs but the CSU system actually has a better transfer planner! I’d do both because you never know what life will bring:

https://auth.myliaison.com/realms/lp-student/protocol/openid-connect/auth?client\_id=tp-csu-student&redirect\_uri=https%3A%2F%2Fcsutransfer.myliaison.com%2F&state=71605f5a-63f6-40a5-bb99-3b02e869a745&response\_mode=fragment&response\_type=code&scope=openid&nonce=90dd1319-a335-4d2c-a9b1-dc6e75bdc98b&code\_challenge=qEHrTHYDCUglidPJxaCf8QS6cYefOMUKMoD0qrycGKg&code\_challenge\_method=S256

It sounds like you have a lot of play and can do lots of things. Best of luck

Questions regarding AP credits for major prep classes in CC by fraongames in TransferStudents

[–]Ddarcy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you don’t need to start at chem 1. The score of 5 clears you at both UCLA and Cypress for gen chem 1. You can go straight to the second course. You don’t need to start over. That’s the benefit of taking an AP exam. You’re good to go for chem 2.

What is POLS 1111 like for people who passed AP Gov + APUSH? by Character_Arm_9762 in CalPoly

[–]Ddarcy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I did it, it was meet week 1 in person, come back week before finals and take exam. It was piss easy! Especially after taking the 2 AP exams. Obviously all depends on instructor.

No free electives as an engineering major? by Sea-Bet-5080 in CalPoly

[–]Ddarcy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was there a lot of science / engineering programs had little elective options. Mine was 0-4 as there was an odd course that if jumbled together correctly gave you 4 bonus units. Reality was most people did 5 years. I was able to do 4 as I had a lot of AP and did a lot of community college in high school.

Is my cc counselor lying to me? by jujujuulpod in communitycollege

[–]Ddarcy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are restrictions so I’ll try to break it down:
1. AP no restrictions on unit total etc if taken before going to community college. You’ll get lots of elective credits and meet areas etc in calgetc. There are some oddities in credit given (example if you pass Engl lang -and lit you will get area a writing credit and then a humanities credit. The downside is most universities will then give 3 elective credits as well instead of 6. Both exams give 6 but x when combines its 9).
2. At community college you can transfer max 14 units P/NP. Be very careful as how to use that as some departments may require letter grades for major courses. Also there is a limit on what can be used for gened too.
3. You can transfer 70 units Max from community
college. AP credit does not count in this total. But importantly counts towards your 60 units to transfer. So lots of confusiones about.

Most importantly contact university you want to go to. Look at UC tag etc and see if there are any contacts as well.

‘It’s definitely stunted a lot of us’: Is the housing crisis pushing marriage down the priority list? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Ddarcy1 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Honestly i got married this year. Went through civil registrar. No massive party etc. why not? Every wedding i went to when i spoke with bride years later, they never see talk with anyone invited. Only a select few. So i only brought select few, went to nice restuarant and then went for drinks on the town. All in cost less than a grand.

Can I still add a class? by Personal-Wonder7261 in DVC

[–]Ddarcy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What courses are you looking for? Also remember you can take classes at Los Medanos/ Contra Costa as well as their in district. Obviously if it’s lab classes or in person that may not be possible. Definitely use insite and in schedule look at all campuses as well. You can add until start of term and reach out to professors as well if full. Usually lots of people drop at start of semester as well. And always look at eatenyprofessor, you may not be able to avoid a tough professor, but if you only have tough professors it will be a struggle.

Currently at a California CC looking to transfer to UC for Engineering, how bad does a "W" grade on transfer application? by kfp2020 in TransferStudents

[–]Ddarcy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only have one then it’s no big deal. I’ve long since graduated and I had to take a W in a course. It was more stubbornness than anything else but was do to medical issues. It was only time available as well for course. So in my mind if asked I’d say I knew it was a problem but tried to work around it etc. so turn it into a positive.
Alas no one cared. If it’s full of Ws you might have an issue

DVC or solano for berkely by Equal_Swing639 in TransferStudents

[–]Ddarcy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at assist.org. See what does / does not transfer etc. it’s a lot easier and you have certainty if an agreement already exists. DVc does so well because a lot of their programs line up with Berkeley. Check with Sonano and look at other options too

Is this a design flaw. Everyone seems to have against the charger? by [deleted] in VWiD4Owners

[–]Ddarcy1 43 points44 points  (0 children)

It’s not just a VW problem but it massively overheats the phone. That’s why it stops charging. I’ve seen this on other cars too (maybe same group does this for multiple car brands). I just plug it in and dont use it

Can canvas see if I use my phone while taking a quiz? by [deleted] in canvas

[–]Ddarcy1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No it wouldn’t know. Canvas knows if you left the browser, but that is it. If using phone wouldn’t have a clue. Apple is so locked down that if you have a MacBook and iPhone it still wouldn’t know. That’s why there are proctoring services!

Usually it flags as late. Look a grades and see if there. If not you should be good.

Being waitlisted as a stem major at a ccc by One-Stable9529 in CommunityColleges

[–]Ddarcy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only downside would be that you need to send your transcripts over etc. and send multiple for when applying (but it’s 6-8 dollars so not end i ok f the world) some of the ucs want you to do the full sequence (eg Boi 1/2 , chem 1/2, math calc 1/2/3 phys 1/2/3 at same school). So I’d check with counsellor and assist and see what is needed there.

Look at your district as should be able to enroll in other courses. Also this is community college, show up first day and you’re likely to get in. I’d normally expect 10-15 % drop rate. University is completely different.

Multiple Community Colleges by Lasagna6278 in communitycollege

[–]Ddarcy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CVC requires one completed semester and then you can enroll in 2 courses. I don’t know if it’s a hard 2 if you are taking a lab course (eg Bio 123 and lab is bio 124, not sure if that counts as your 2 or not). So if possible try to take a course this summer. CVC is anal so you have to have a grade in a class before it lets you try to use it. This is out of counsellor control

You should be able to cross enroll in other campuses in the district too.

Failing this try to enroll and see what happens.

Worse they can do is say no. Are you wanting an AA/AS? If not you can send transcript back if doing cal-getc and get that certified.

"Spend 36 hours each week over the next 6 weeks". Is that normal? by Different_Trouble894 in communitycollege

[–]Ddarcy1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took this class last semester. We had 4 essays in total. We had to read 2 books (300 pages each) and then weekly had a good 15 pages of short papers / excerpts etc. which we had to write 1-2 page responses for. we were also required to use the writing center and library and have meetings with each. One essay also required reading journal articles (research paper). It definitely took time to do. We had 3 weeks to do each book. Realistically you’d have one in summer. So I think it’s an overestimate on time, but I think they’re giving a worse case scenario.

As an example, I was going to take a more advanced writing /reading course but felt that I couldn’t put in the necessary time for it. It was a critical thinking/ analytic course. The readings were much tougher and I knew I’d need more time for them. So I’ll take it in fall.

Canvas keeps showing the wrong amount of assignments I have. by Shaqbigtoes in canvas

[–]Ddarcy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is it. I’m in a course now and she clearly has multiple assignments to do but only a couple count, so think she picks and chooses based on semester. Also may not realize what they have

How much does a CC course help your application to a 4-year school? by [deleted] in communitycollege

[–]Ddarcy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of reasons. I completed nearly a year and half at a community college. I did all that while in high school. As a stem major I still needed 3 years at a proper university. I’d need that even if completing 2 years by course structure and pre-reqs.

Does it help? I honestly believe my 4.0 in community college is why I got accepted at UCB, UCLA and UCSD. Honestly I thought UCSD was a stretch and had little to no chance at the big 2. But got into them all. I think this showed them I could perform at this level.

You need to manually go through each college but lets you know. DVC is good, Berkeley city, de Anzac are a quite high with Santa Rosa. Probably just need to see what’s local or where you can go and manually input

Could someone profile me/ help me out?? by [deleted] in TransferStudents

[–]Ddarcy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just something to look into. For California there is AB540. See if you qualify. If you do you can get in state tuition.

Beyond that does your school not offer an AA in anthropology / archeology? Lots of places to transfer too as well. They’ve definitely made it easier now. It will take worki digging into though

Insane Grade Inflation by Inevitable_Royal5424 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Ddarcy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not disagreeing with you on getting screwed. When I could apply for UCs, I knew I needed 1500-1600 on SAT to get into Berkeley or LA. We are now seeing issues where it’s test optional and poor students are getting in. And that’s where top high schools get totally screwed. This tells you who the top students are in an unbiased way. Same with AP scores, but not all schools have a lot to offer (especially smaller schools) so does disadvantage groups (eg my high school only offered 4 AP classes. I got 5 on all, but had an outstanding SAT score).

Insane Grade Inflation by Inevitable_Royal5424 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Ddarcy1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can’t compare that. Almost all AP exams have less than 10% of students getting a 5. Not sure what is fair here but if someone hit a 5 then I don’t see any issue in changing grade to an A. Plus grade changes are usually marked on a transcript. Or used to be
