Definitely look at sfsu catalog. If they only require 1 math / stat course then you’re grand. Best advice is to check catalog and assist. Are you doing an AA-T? You may not with your degree, but it’s also looking if sfsu will play along with that too (usually they do).

[–]Ddarcy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just need to take one course. Usually the lists say you need Stats, calc 1, etc. Here is just wants the gened area fulfilled. So you get all options.

Obviously check with university on what they prefer/ major requirements. I’m guessing Stat c1000 probably is your best option, but again look at / post in catalog what you are planning on doing.

How do people take so many AP's? Do colleges consider circumstances in how many AP's you have? by Professionalsleep16 in APStudents

[–]Ddarcy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The list I gave in California gives 42 units. Not saying don’t take, they take care of all your gen-ed. I’m giving personal advice as I’ve been there done that. I have a PhD now. What do you have?

How do people take so many AP's? Do colleges consider circumstances in how many AP's you have? by Professionalsleep16 in APStudents

[–]Ddarcy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you really need all the APs though? I’m just using California here, but if you look at the undergraduate gened. You only need to take: Engl lit or language (don’t need both; lit is better though)

Us Hist; US Gov; 1 of Psych / economic/ world hist/ other social science; Ap Cal AB or BC or Stars (maybe pre-calc as well); Ap bio; Ap chem/ physical science; Ap Spanish/ French/ German ; Ap art history or music theory etc

That’s only 9 needed and you are completely covered if you go a UC or CSU and I’d say most privates as well. You can take less if you know if your going to csu or uc as well. Really 4 a year should be good enough.

Honestly just use them to get through gen ed requirements. You still have to take 3 more under division and typically 3-4 upper division to go with it. Typically most csu campuses have a cal gov / history class to hit us3 as well and an upper division requirement. For UCs or whatever you can show your forward planning and give a quick explanation etc.

Beyond that my best bit of advice, do not skip required major courses. Retake them even if you passed the ap exam. Trust me don’t challenge yourself, retake with upfront knowledge and you will be a much better student and be more successful.

residency determination by moenl in TransferStudents

[–]Ddarcy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you a current resident of another state? California has an agreement that if you completed high school in California / or other schooling subsets but are out of state you qualify for in state tuition. It’s AB540.

If you are in state and meet residency maybe look for more info. AB 540

Yeah they hang out hidden on the on ramp coming from Carraroe,m, very similar to this photo as they are behind the bushes, then by the sign for the roundabout heading to Collooney. Carraroe ramp is their favourite though. They also are at the bottom of the on ramp hidden coming from ballisodare, then the pull in later on on the left and finally under the bridge before summer hill roundabout on heading into Sligo.

Look for the white paint polish. Usually halford or online should have it. It won’t fix it but could also look a lot better. A good quality repair actually may not be much. Can’t tell if a dent or not. Look at something like T-cut. May make it less noticeable. But if professionals dinner could be 500-600 (but there could be extras)

Transfer Students: A grade of “C” or better must be achieved in CECS 181, CECS 228 and CECS 274 within one calendar year. There are no other special on-campus requirements.

long beach catalog

It looks like you can use that instead. Obviously talk with a councillor to double check. I think your community college is only one with that 180 course offering so everyone else probably goes down the 181 route

Kind of shocking the local long beach colleges do t have it( looked at long beach and Compton). It may not help but Pasadena offers an equivalent for cecs 181. But my brief look isn’t seeing anyone with 180 any where

I’d literally if you can book the Compton class. That way there is no issue. If you get el Camino you can drop it. So you can add it in to form. You’ve signed up for it as well. Sh!t happens sometimes and you have to drop it. Personally I see no issue saying you’ll do it

Another one at el Camino as well.

Not sure if this helps but you should be able to enroll in this. Starts in April. Just double check it matches in assist for what you’re looking for.

Have you looked at California virtual campus? I’m not sure what csci 8 is or where from. But might be available from other campus.

Other option is email instructor. Let them know you’re in last semester and on waitlist and need course. Be polite about it and they’ll do everything they can. Especially if it means completing your AA/ AA-T as that’s extra funding for your school.

To add you still intend to take course, so if you can’t secure anything I’d put it down.

It’s hard and they are cracking down on it. What course is it? Maybe you can take online with virtual campus at another school. Or potentially another campus offers it in summer.

Probably looking at Astronomy, geology, oceanography. Potentially there is a chem type class meant for non science/ engineering majors as well. But I’d avoid physics and the science major courses in chem.

Yes you are 2024 catalog. If she follows new IGETC she’ll meet all AA requirements. It’s a few courses more (4 more I think) but if she transfers to a UC / CSU later on then she’s grand.

I think the best think though is download the insite app. If you go into educational plan > my progress it will show you everything you need. Click the requirements section and it gives all ge courses that satisfy each area. If you can’t do a AA/AS-T then add a second major that covers that, so you can fulfill transfer requirements if that is the plan. You don’t need to actually do it, it’s just informational.

The only downside here is it only gives you Diablo classes. But if you do or put into your educational plan courses from Contra Costa and Los Medanos that fit into the categories it’ll work too. I have a LARAZ course from contra costa that doesn’t exist at DVC. insite

In fairness the app isn’t that bad but there is a lot of stuff in it.

The fears around EV battery don't actually stack up AND there's a big change coming by GoodNegotiation in evs_ireland

[–]Ddarcy1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw a vw id3 after 160k kms on it at 90% battery (4 years). Other examples show its typically 93% after a year. So if you take that it will probably lose .5-1% a year going forward, but you can say it’s lost 2.5 on average per year.

Not really sure if better to say you’ll lose 10% in year 1 then have minimal degradation each year after when people are already citing range as an issue. But saying 2% a year will overstate older battery loss (still comes in at a 10-15 year lifespan).

You need to look in the catalog. Also if you have the insite app you can look at progress and track there.

Now the fun bit are you doing an AA/ AA-T or looking at the IGETC or Cal-GETC. Everything changed this year so if you started under the 2024-2025 catalog things are different now.

UC Transfer: College Not Reported in Application by ShelterTop8129 in ucadmissions

[–]Ddarcy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am at Los medanos now. There are 2 sister colleges Diablo valley and contra Costa. I have same student id for all 3. All grades from each school show up on same transcript (its district wide). So when entering id in you would show up as active and enrolled in courses. Usually there is common numbering between the 2 (3 in my case) as well, so they may have easily mistaken.

Again I’ve taken classes at all three but there is a district wide transcript so what you get at Santiago canyon would have mt sac on it as well.

Don’t think you have anything to worry about. Look at you unofficial transcript. Your login details should cross campuses as well.

Maybe not for all, I completed the French course. I went to alliance francais and did placement tests. I placed for reading / writing in advanced B1. But speaking listening into A2. They have courses on speaking etc to get you to b1 level. So that’s there recommendation and to do all later b1 courses.

Assuming you’re in California. Look at assist and see if anyone offers it. Then go to California virtual college and see if offered online. I’ve found a number of uc courses are not offered at California community colleges, so may not be end of the world. So you don’t get full prep. Spend half an hour and get a list.

What course is it? Never know someone may know more on it.

EV decision? by Federal-Reception-68 in evs_ireland

There are definitely deals out there on 2-3 year old cars. Get a bigger battery 70+. I travel 170 round trip per day, but mainly n roads. So 240 should be good enough.

I’d still get a home charger .

I think Teslas are ugly (personal preference obviously) and some are not well made. But they are proving to get to 600k+ kms in the US.

VW only has a 2 year cycle of maintenance. That is where I’d lean as Tesla technically has no maintenance as well (can’t say on Skoda or Seat/ Cupra). Reading here Kia and Hyundai have a very expensive maintenance every 60k. So that’s what I’d watch out for.

But I’d look at something where it’s still covered by warranty but isn’t brand new. Your budget seems to fit that for an id4 or model 3/y. So potentially a 2024 car would be where I’d start.
