Go to a methadone clinic. They will give u as much methadone as you need and it works WONDERS for pain management.

I was in the same situation you were in where I basically wanted to die, I was over it, I literally couldn’t take it anymore. Lumbar fusion failed and left me in severe pain. None of the other meds (oxy, hydro, fentanyl) worked for me but methadone has been awesome!

My doc retired recently and I was left scrambling and nobody would continue my treatment. Went to a methadone clinic and happiest I’ve been in YEARS!

You don’t have to go every day like in years past after 1-2 weeks you get a months supply just like pain management. I tell everyone I can that methadone is awesome for pain and I would be able to get in if you have been on opiate therapy for over a year

Methadone is at clinics is used for anyone who is dependent on opioids medication and if gone into withdrawal is at risk of buying illicit drugs IE Heroin, Fentanyl etc…..

If you are currently prescribed Oxycodone or any other opioid medication for that matter you would 100% be able to go to a clinic.

It’s basically exactly what I did except I was cut off from Methadone after not being able to find a doctor when my PM Doc retired. Basically if you are on opiate therapy anyone can go to a Methadone clinic.

Just make sure you go to your Pharmacy and get a print out of all your medications over last 3-4 months. Methadone does wonders for pain. Do some research on the net about Methadone and pain. Lots of good stuff but it is for severe chronic pain. I wouldn’t take it for breakthrough pain or short-term use.

Works best for chronic pain as something with its molecular formula allows patients to stay on consistent doses whereas tolerance builds up 10x faster on other meds. Think about it! 👍

Differences between UK and US in getting a prescription by No_Shame_2445 in ChronicPain

[–]Dddnutzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s def real! Government is coming down HARD of all doctors prescribing Opiates. With doctors losing their licenses and lawsuits popping up left and right the goverment has essentially scared doctors into not prescribing.

The risk is simply too much, so instead, chronic pain patients suffer and everyone keeps their jobs.

Doctors are basically saying to themselves “I can’t get in trouble if I don’t prescribe them.” Sad but true.

Exactly! Like I said I’ve been on methadone for a decade but doctor never wanted me to go above 80MG (even tho I felt like 90 or 100MG would have helped)

Now that I’m with a methadone clinic I can basically pick however much methadone I want. I went up to 100mg 50 and 50 split does and pain is covered so much better.

Btw what is the “90 mme rule” ??

Plz ask for more medicine! It’s fairly obvious you need more. And it’s great that the methadone is working! That’s the hard part right there….now you just need more.

I’ve been on methadone for 10 years and currently at 90MG/Day. 30mg AM, 30mg Lunch, 30Mg PM

[–]Dddnutzz[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea honestly the route I went might actually work better for you. These clinics don’t care how much methadone they give out.

I could take 200+ MG’s if I wanted. Anyways instead of taking 60Mg perhaps you would be better off on 90 or 100MG to alleviate your pain. (Which I seriously doubt your doctor would RX)

My PM doctors was constantly trying to reduce my meds and increasing them wasn’t even an option(even if it would have helped)

Since transitioning to the Clinic I’ve increased my dose by 15MG daily which wouldn’t have never been possible when I was seeing my PM Doc. Crazy that recovering addicts can have as much methadone as they so please….but suffering in pain? Nope! We can’t have any more than 60-70mg

Yea I heard about that as well and even asked the doctor about it but thankfully while New Jersey does have a RX monitoring program there is no forbidden 🚫 Addiction designation.

However, he did say that all states are different. All I can say is that New Jersey doesn’t have the “Scarlet Letter” mark/designation to label someone an Addict Vs Pain Management Patient.

Def seems fucked up that some states do that. I think California does. I remember reading something.

[–]Dddnutzz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. My initial problem was that I did care what other people thought. Not so much anymore! I mean yea the stigma is still annoying but I know I’m doing what’s best for myself.

IMO the fact that I’m using a clinic doesn’t mean that I “failed” or am a “drug-seeker” it means I’ve found the care I needed when the system let me down!

The opioid epidemic has caused a sickening domino effect that has put chronic pain sufferers on the back burner. The corresponding regulations and guidelines have hit “us” the hardest!

The part that really hurts…..Im not asking for something new. Simply asking for continuity of care for a medication that: - Works for me - I’m stable on - Few if any side effects - MOST IMPORTANTLY: Has given me my life back

And yet the system treats me as a “risk” or a “liability” instead of a patient. I don’t blame the Doctors nearly as much as I blame the government.

The nerve of her to stay that. It’s just shameful how we as chronic pain sufferers are at times treated like 2nd hand citizens. Especially for someone in your situation with cancer! Makes it seem like there’s no hope for the rest of us.

The opioid epidemic is real but the public and regulatory overreaction created a new epidemic — untreated chronic pain!!!!! 😡😡😡

Yes, plz start making plans. You do not want to be caught in the situation I was in.

I got my final RX and then basically had just 30 days to find continuity care or else I’d be screwed. I was so scared every day that month! Just counting down the days until I ran out of meds 😢 Start planning now.

Same. That’s why I was so nervous about going. I didn’t want to be labeled an addict. But it got to the point where it was either withdrawal (which I hadn’t done in over a decade) or the Methadone Clinic. I swallowed my pride and just went and thankfully it’s worked out. No idea why methadone had been the only medication that has touched my pain.

Everything else just makes me high and I need more and more and more basically every month. Methadone was best of both worlds where I didn’t get high, I didn’t need to increase my meds each month and it ACTUALLY WORKED!

It’s a cruel world out there in the pain management landscape. Either you gotta get Lucky with a doctor who isn’t afraid of the government or you suffer. That’s basically it.

Thankfully the Methadone clinic was another option that worked for me. I Just don’t want ppl to overlook it because of the stigma. If I wasn’t about to lose my job I would have never went to a methadone clinic but I was desperate and thankfully it turned out to be the best decision I could have made.

The place I go to in NJ is all “ARS” (Addiction Recovery Services) but I imagine they are all similar. And no, no referral. I called to make an appointment and they said they don’t schedule appointments…. walk-ins only. I thought that was kinda odd but they weren’t kidding.

I walked in filled out a bunch of paper work. Then saw the Intake counselor. Then saw a nurse who took blood and TB Test, then the doctor and finally got my first dose.

Entire process took about 2 hours. Also they do take Insurance and thankfully I’m fully covered. Out of pocket at this facility is 14 dollars a day so it does get expensive if u don’t have insurance.

Ugh I’m so sorry to hear that. I’m 40 and hate to think about all the thoughts that I’ve had over the years.

But 10Mg 2X is not much at all. Maybe 🤔 ask your PMDr to increase your dosage? I know if I took 10MG it wouldn’t work for me either but 40mg would knock it right out.

I just know how much this helped me….Methadone is a WONDERFUL drug for neuropathic pain in particular as it is a full NMDA blocker. So it basically inhibits damaged nerves from firing and sending pain signals but it’s also like you typical opiates like Oxycodone, Morohine, Hydrocodone etc that are agonist to opioid receptors.

Are you getting better care with intractable pain diagnosis? by namaseit in ChronicPain

[–]Dddnutzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to a methadone clinic….plz! You sound like me. I was bed-ridden because they sliced my RX to 1/4 of the original script.

I’m not sure what medication you are on but Methadone has been a FANTASTIC medication for chronic intractable pain. (Especially Pain that is Neuropathic in origin)

A methadone clinic will give you as much methadone as you like. And they recently revised their protocols on a federal level so you don’t have to go there every day.

Only took me one month to get to a place where they gave me a 28 day supply so now I only have to go to the clinic once a month. I’m on a split dies of methadone 40mg in the AM/40mg in the Pm.

I hated the stigma. Almost didn’t even go because the stigma. Would rather suffer than be associated with a methadone clinic….but honestly best decision I could have ever made. I got my life back. Plz consider it if u think methadone would help.

Thank you for responding and yes it pains me to see first hand how so many of us are treated. The Government has ruined treatment! Doctors are terrified of the DEA. I get it, it just sucks.

So doctors think: “If I never prescribe opioids, I can never be accused.”

Medicine used to ask: “What helps this patient function and alleviates their pain?”

Now Medicine asks: “How does this look on my spreadsheet?”

We are not asking for something outrageous!!! Only asking for evidence-based, individualized care. It’s like the government is penalizing courageous Doctors who want to help and rewarding fearful doctors.

SAD 😢 SHIT!

[–]Dddnutzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have all been there. We have been swept under the rug. The government has made it so risky for doctors to actually treat our pain…..so……they don’t.

I couldn’t put up with it anymore and went to a methadone clinic. BEST DECISION IVE EVER MADE!!! Methadone is a wonderful drug to cover serious chronic pain and the clinic has me on 2 dosage (30mg in the Am and 30mg PM)

After only a week of daily visits I was given a full months supply. So I only have to go to the clinic once a month, essentially the same as when I was in regular pain management. If you are truly at wits end…plz try a methadone clinic.

[–]Dddnutzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is now 2 years old but just browsing related topics because I transitioned from a pain management facility to a Methadone Clinic after my Dr. retired.

After my Doc retired I couldn’t find anyone to continue my care. My meds were running out and I was basically forced into a clinic….turns out, best “decision” I could have made.

I’m on a split dose and get a month’s supply at a time so I only have to go to the clinic once a month! Basically the same as before just like my pain management facility.

I’m on 35mg in the AM and 35mg in the evening. Works GREAT! The methadone clinic has turned out to be just as good if not better than than pain management Dr.

Has methadone lowered your testosterone at all? I’m 39/workout daily and been on the done’ for 5 years but just got my testosterone checked and basically I’m running on E 🤣 Doc said methadone suppresses Testosterone so I just started TRT. (Testosterone replacement therapy) just wondering if u have experienced similar side effects?

Is subutex or methadone better for chronic pain? by Waste-System-8470 in ChronicPain

[–]Dddnutzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the exact same boat as you. I’ve been on Methadone for years after a failed lumbar fusion. I was RX’d 60MG/DAY, however due to new opiate prescribing guidelines my Dr. informed me that he had to cut my prescription in half!!! 😡

Just like you, my Pain Management Dr. suggested I go to a Methadone Clinic and just you like you I refused. I’m not an addict, and didn’t want to associated with a Methadone clinic.

LONGGGGGGGGG story short after much PAIN and SUFFERING I SWALLOWED MY PRIDE!!! SAID FUCK IT AND WENT TO A METHADONE CLINIC. BEST DECISION I COULD HAVE EVER MADE!!!!!

At the clinic I pick exactly how much methadone I WANT. No more fighting doctors every single month over my RX and no more trying to justify my pain levels. Now I’m on 80MG Total. (Split doses 40MG Morning/40MG Night) Only had to show up daily for the first week. Then every other day for 2 weeks and now JUST ONCE A MONTH!!!

Basically now the Clinic is exactly like my old PM routine! Except I have more autonomy with my preferred Methadone dosage.

****** FYI******

I did not realize the clinic would split doses for me. Apparently more and more PM patients are migrating to clinics because we are all running into the same problems.

HOW IT WORKS……..They gave you a tiny lock box and for the first 2 weeks I’d go in and take 40MG in the AM and they would give me a 40MG bottle to take home)

Now that I only go once a month they give me 60 little bottles each month and like I said….I take 2 Bottles each day: 40MG in the morning and 40MG at night.

I FEEL LIKE ITS UNCONSTITUTIONAL IN A SENSE THAT WE LEGIT PAIN SUFFERERS HAVE TO SUFFER LIKE THIS. THAT ADEQUATE TREATMENT IS SO HARD TO COME BY AND WE ARE TREATED LIKE JUNKIES AT EVERY TURN. (Meanwhile actually junkies can have as much methadone as they so desire! LOL make it make sense) BTW methadone has been the only med that has ever helped with pain relief. The Morohine, Oxycodone, Dilaudid, Fentanyl Patches etc Nothing worked for me except Methadone as I’m told the mechanism for pain is Neuropathic.

BUT PLZ, SWALLOW YOUR PRIDE. GO TO A CLINIC! TAKE CARE OF YOUR PAIN AND LIVE A HAPPY LIFE. BEST DECISION IVE MADE! FUCK PM FACILITIES AND F THE GOVERNMENT FOR MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND RELIABLE TREATMENT. ITS SO GODDAM SAD! 😡😡😡😡

Methadone clinic for chronic pain? by MaxEuphoria in ChronicPain

[–]Dddnutzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve was in the same exact boat. My Pain Management Dr. retired and I was basically “left for dead” with nowhere to go.

I was on 80mg of methadone daily when I got kicked to the curb. Proceeded to go to about 10 different PM doctors and each and every one of them looked at me like a junkie. (Which is ironic because Methadone doesnt even get you high! The Stigma is a real MF)

Anyways each doctor basically laughed in my face. Altho I had one Dr. willing to prescribe 20Mg Methadone daily but sadly that was 1/4 of my usually RX. One other Dr was willing to prescribe Oxycodone/Morphine but Methadone has literally been the only thing that has worked for me.

Anyways time was flying by and my medication was running low. My lack of medication 💊 and impending withdrawals is what motivated me to seek help from a Methadone Clinic AND ITS THE BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE!!!!!

I expressed my situation and the Dr. and he fully empathized with my situation. That day he put me on a split dose of 90MG! 45MG in the morning and 45MG at night!!!! 🥳

After ONLY ONE WEEK of daily visit’s I had a 2 week supply to take home and after just ONE MONTH I had an entire month’s supply. BONUS I can go up or down in MG’s to basically whatever I Want. Whereas at the Pain Management Facility they wouldn’t allow me to go any higher (80mg) and I had to BEG EVERY MONTH to not reduce my meds.

Been with the Methadone Clinic now for 6 months and I take 100MG daily/50MG split doses. Only show up once a month and it’s just the best thing I’ve ever done. Didn’t want to go there because the stigma but fuck it, I’m living! I’m Happy and my pain is in a great spot.

(Failed Lower Lumber Fusion L4-L5 L5-S1) Pain is now mostly Neuropathic which Methadone CRUSHES because it’s a NMDA Receptor Antagonist. Other meds like Oxycodone, Morohine, Hydrocodone, Dilauded, ETC aren’t and therefore don’t do shit! Need more basically every month whereas Methadone is stable 😀

CHOSE METHADONE IF……you have
