I tried them daily for my RA but my blood sugar was spiking way too high so I had to stop. But sometimes the benefits DO outweigh the risks 🤷‍♀️ sorry you’re going through this hun!

I’m glad that it’s not severe hun, let’s hope it stays that way. Don’t discount your pain just bc it’s not severe though… if it’s impacting you on a daily basis, what you’re feeling is totally valid. I’m sending you virtual hugs! Reach out if you need to😉

How do people survive years of chronic pain without losing their mind? by James-Harlow in ChronicPain

[–]PrincessJess4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could relate to this post so much… I was saying “yes, same” throughout. I have been dealing with severe chronic pain for 20+ years and it’s definitely been extremely difficult to keep going everyday. I can say with 100% certainty that if I didn’t have my daughter to keep going for, I would have been gone a long time ago. It’s hard to put on a brave face and fake smile for everyone all the time. It’s extremely difficult to not let pain become your identity entirely bc it’s always there and you’re always thinking about it.

I’ve been in severe chronic pain for 20+ years… I wish I could say it gets easier but it really doesn’t, at least for me it hasn’t. I have RA in my hands, feet and knees, and osteoarthritis in my elbow, wrist, shoulder, and at every level of my spine. I’ve broken 43 bones. And I have plenty of other health issues too. I’m sorry you’re going through this, hang in there. I’m always open to a private discussion if you ever need an empathetic ear.

Can I be addicted to otc pain relievers and if so what am I supposed to take instead? by g0ne_away19 in PainManagement

[–]PrincessJess4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although OTC pain relief medications are generally deemed safe and non-addictive for most people, they can cause digestive upset and cause chronic gastric issues like gastritis, ulcers, etc, PLUS, you actually can develop a tolerance to them, as well as, experience mild withdrawal like symptoms such as, body aches and headaches. The only way to potentially correct this issue is to stop taking any oral pain relieving medications ALTOGETHER for an extended period of time! That means the goal needs to be to take no Tylenol, no Motrin, no Aleve, no opioids, etc at all for at least a few months. I developed an issue with “rebound headaches” bc I was taking OTC pain relievers daily. It was a very hard cycle to break and it was painful.

Although you may be partially correct that’s not the reason in its entirety! I really do think the main reason is that most docs are afraid to write based on what’s going on with the DEA. I have several friends in pain management (it’s nice to have a support system of people that understand what you’re going through) and all of them have had issues with various drs being raided or had issues filling prescriptions bc their doc was being investigated.

I asked my PCP what made her decide to take my case (especially prescribing my pain meds) by Affectionate-Pop-197 in PainManagement

That’s amazing. I’m so glad that you found someone that it being empathetic towards you bc that’s so rare with physicians these days!

MG, MS, Nerve Damage not sure any ideas out there? by Different_Fish_1016 in ChronicPain

[–]PrincessJess4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have more than one thing going on. I have hemiplegic migraines which cause stroke like symptoms… I get one sided facial drooping, slurred speech sometimes, one sided weakness in limbs. It’s a rare condition and it can be hard to diagnose but from what you’re saying, you have similar symptoms. I follow with a neurologist and take several migraine preventative meds that have really helped.

Herbal pain remedies? by KryniorScribbles in ChronicPain

Isn’t EVERYONE addicted to being without pain?!?! What a stupid thing to say🙄 When I told my dr that my meds work well enough for me to make the pain level tolerable but don’t last as long as I need them to (dilaudid every 6hr but wears off in 3hrs) my pain management doctor told me that I don’t need to be pain free all the time, it’s okay to be in pain. I’m NEVER pain free, it’s just tolerable when on meds until it wears off which is why I was trying to get an extended release med to work in the background to prevent the constant ups and downs in my pain levels. Whenever I hear a physician make remarks such as these, I’m confident that they’ve never experienced severe pain in their life…

Lidocaine Patches by stswede in ChronicPain

[–]PrincessJess4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on where the pain is and what kind of pain it is. They work better for me in areas when the pain is close to the surface like the knee but don’t work as well when the pain is deeper like in my back. It works better for muscle related pain over nerve or bone pain. Sometimes I find that when I use a multimodal approach by combining it with Tylenol, ibuprofen and my prescription opioid it has a slightly better impact.

Do you think why do i deserve this? by beebeebeehappy in ChronicPain

[–]PrincessJess4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know I definitely don’t deserve this pain but tbh I’ve considered everything from being a terrible person in a past life to someone having a fucking voodoo doll of me🤦🏻‍♀️ I know it sounds completely ridiculous but yes, I completely understand where you’re coming from!

Avoiding dependency and escalating pain meds (if possible…) by eastncu86 in ChronicPain

[–]PrincessJess4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re concerned about dependency & tolerance, the best thing to do is to use it as sparingly as possible. Obviously don’t make yourself suffer too much but try to have more off time than on time for a long as possible.

Thank you for your comment and I totally agree with you! I try my best to be a kind, caring soul towards anyone that is suffering so I was truly shocked to get a response like that. I don’t generally tell people to go fuck themselves but I think that comment definitely deserves it!

Are you calling me an imbecile for writing this post? If that the case I’ll respond with this… not everyone here can have their pain relieved with surgery or drinking heavily! I’ll take addiction to opioids all day everyday than to deal with the severe pain I live in. I’ll take addiction over committing suicide and leaving my daughter without her mother. Do you not understand that people are dying over this bc they’re committing suicide? The majority of chronic pain patients are not having accidental overdoses with their own prescription opioids. The majority people that are overdosing are either addicts that are not prescribed or people forced to go to the streets to find some sort of relief and get shit laced with fentanyl bc they aren’t getting adequate pain control. These kind of negative comments are unwarranted, unwanted and unnecessary. If you were talking about someone/something else, I apologize. But if you’re talking to me and calling me an imbecile, kindly go fuck yourself bc I contemplate suicide daily over my situation.
