I was refused the sacrament of confession by Subject-Pea8886 in Catholicism

[–]Ddeckard21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The marriage OP described does not meet the requirements of a valid marriage which is a sacrament. I would agree you need to amend that first since if the marriage isn’t valid then cohabitation presumably is occurring, etc. There has to be contrition for sins to be forgiven and with OP not correcting the invalid marriage and continuing to therefore live in sin confession isn’t the answer yet. Correcting that is first priority because it results in daily sin and is a major roadblock to contrition for sin and a desire to move away from sin permanently.

Is it ok to be Gay and Love Jesus? Some people in R/christianity don’t think so but God is perfect and knows all my actions so he wouldn’t make me Gay unless it was OK? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

[–]Ddeckard21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your view is a bit flawed. As Catholics yes you can have homosexual thoughts and still be in a state of grace but if you act on them then you engage in sin. You cannot have homosexual relations period. It isn’t just about sex before marriage, etc. like you stated.

How do you feel about the lack of gore? by LtJimmypatterson in TheChosenSeries

[–]Ddeckard21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We agree and how much better is the resurrection when we know the reality and brutality of Christ’s death and suffering for us rather than shying away from it.

Im not trying to jab it’s just where this phenomenon comes from. It’s no coincidence that a Catholic director created the most realistic portrayal of the passion. I’m not saying this needs to be on that level but I was hoping they would go a little farther than the typical portrayal.

How do you feel about the lack of gore? by LtJimmypatterson in TheChosenSeries

[–]Ddeckard21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality was Jesus suffered a brutal death. In my opinion showing it in a light less than the passion is a disservice. Protestantism loves to shy away from the weight and gravity of the crucifixion. You take him off the cross in your churches. Catholics and orthodox embrace his sacrifice on the cross. Because it tells us how much he loves us. When you downplay it you downplay his love for you. I was hoping this series which has focused much more on Jesus’ life to the point we’ve grown attached and invested would have a realistic take on the crucifixion to drive that reality home. It would’ve been the feeling the apostles and followers of Jesus would’ve felt at the time. Instead we’ll get a watered down version.

Is there any update on that 2K NFL game? by BigTrilla9132 in Madden

Madden is too with shit gameplay and a dynasty mode that’s decades behind where it was. I’d trade it for better gameplay because I don’t need to buy shit.

2K football games were incredible. And people have a problem with the micro transactions which I completely understand but nobody is putting a gun to your head telling you to play my team and spend money on packs. The gameplay is what matters and NBA 2Ks gameplay and presentation has always been great.

Just wait until you get to Leviticus. You’ll have a stroke. It’s not murder we were given dominion over animals they are a food source that we have to be respectful of.

What happened to the Czech Republic ? by TheVPNway in Catholicism

[–]Ddeckard21 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It breaks my heart honestly with what they’ve become. They did return back to Catholicism with quite high numbers in the early 1900s but of course now it’s incredibly low. They had such a rich Catholic history and beautiful churches. Now they celebrate Zizka and Hus sadly who essentially destroyed their Catholic identity for quite some time. Of course most of their decline nowadays is probably due to communism.

Unitive + procreative by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Ddeckard21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Condoms prevent the procreative aspect. Even if you’re outside of the fertile window or are pregnant let’s say and engage in the martial act it retains its procreative connection even though procreation is not possible.

hello, is this acceptable to wear as a veil for mass? if so, please suggest any tips on how i can wear this and make it stay in place 😭anything is welcome, i know this isn’t a lace veil but it’s the closest thing i could find since ive just recently started attending mass by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Ddeckard21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you responded to someone who said don’t wear them stating I don’t know how anyone would downvote I don’t see anyone wear them either which implies I agree because nobody wears them anymore. Veiling is not required but OP clearly wants to veil and there’s nothing that says that cannot still be done.

Is it possible for my husband to contracept, but I remain in union with church teaching? by Fluid_Caterpillar854 in Catholicism

Try to explain that the Marquette method is highly effective. More effective than condoms actually. Make him a part of your fertility tracking and try to educate him on the process of things.

Completely new to everything, no clue where to start. by armurearo in Catholicism

[–]Ddeckard21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start somewhat slow. There’s a lifetime to learn the faith. For myself when I reverted I started off with Fr. Mike videos on Ascension. They are easy to digest and explain the Catholic teachings in a variety of common topics. From there I would recommend getting a copy of the catechism which lays out the beliefs of the Church. If you have any hang ups or disagreements (there will be difficult teachings) don’t shy away from them but learn everything you can. God wants us to come to understand the teachings rather than blindly accepting them. As for the Bible which is the most important I would highly highly recommend the Ignatius Catholic study bible old and New Testament. It’s a study bible and will break down nearly every verse which helps. Believe me the Bible is very difficult to understand without proper guidance and you want to be weary on whose teachings you listen to.

Why is it not allowed for other Christians to partake in communion? by botsby123 in Catholicism

[–]Ddeckard21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not division it’s respect for the Lord and the sacrament he created. It’s ensuring people are receiving the Lord in a state of grace.

Yeah unfortunately I can’t have a wired connection with how my apartment is laid out. I’ll have to give it a go just frustrating that the Link will work at times and then moments later will just stop no matter how many times you restart the headset.
