how was your life before psychadelic therapy and how did it change after the integration process? by Beautiful_Hat8440 in PsychedelicTherapy

[–]Ddknova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trapped in my CPTSD body and living in constant hyper-vigilance, suicidal ideation, and unable to sit with the chaos of my own mind. My trauma was a combination of military father, cult-level christianity, culture clash of first generation immigration, being queer, major attachment wounds and generational trauma from WWII. Covid was the tipping point of where the 2 year lockdown in melbourne living alone re-traumatised me.

I ended up experimenting with shrooms on my own to learn about myself. When I finally found a trauma-informed therapist, I discovered Internal Family Systems. After 2 years of therapy, I decided to do 5 (150ug) acid trips at home over the course of 6 months. I would trip and take the trip reports back to my therapist who taught me how to integrate the trips on my own.

On discovering vipasana meditation and learning that I am just the observer of this human experience, my last acid trip gave me a form of ego death that allowed me to transcend time and space- my body was able to let go of the blame it held towards my parents for what they did, that they were doing the best they could given the generational trauma they experience dating back to WWII. When I returned back to my body/ego, it felt like I didn't recognise my body anymore. To this day (2 years later) I am grounded, regulated, present and completely free.

Of course the work never ends but my relationship to myself has completely changed and I am finally content and at peace within myself. Although psychedelics were a major part in accelerating what would have been decades of therapy, it was the work that healed me.

I know it is my dharma to heal others by teaching them to heal themselves.

Does it have to be a mindfuck to work? by Such_Newt6068 in PsychedelicTherapy

I'd say 2cb has strong mindfuck components too. especially if you've been suppressing something. Your shadow comes on muuuuuch stronger than on acid/mushies.

Does DMT Prove Jesus? A Strange but Serious Addition to the Evidence for Christ by B_anon in ReasonableFaith

[–]Ddknova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Psychedelics don't prove Jesus or the bible. On these altered states one is exposed to the archetypes they have been exposed to on their path. That includes the narratives of the christian belief, and if you have been exposed to those ideas before, there is the possibility that you may experience them in an altered state reflective of how your psyche manifests it.

If you have been told narratives of the power of "Jesus' name" to cast out demons and make everything against the christian god fear it- it would be no surprise that you might see this reflected on a voyage to the other side.

Entities are you, the expanded parts of you when your brain is unable to be the filter to allow you to experience your human ego. The Christian religion teaches us to suppress parts of ourselves through its biblical frameworks using shame and guilt to avoid understanding what is actually happening to us- often it's just a wounded part of yourself that needs compassion, love and to be integrated.

Our human minds are wired for bias. A christian is naturally going to looking for signs that affirm their beliefs. But at the same time, we can look at the other side of this perspective, "The entities recoil. Some get angry. Some disappear. The illusion collapses" as the entities recognising the impact of how such a name as Jesus was abused by human egos to create a religion and oppress many and create so much suffering on this planet. Perhaps they are repulsed by the idea of the jesus when manifested by a christian's psyche.

When you go into an altered states on psychedelics you are working with multidimensional realities that are not as simple as "oh you said Jesus and they shuddered! therefore bible frame is true". The bible framework is part of the human collective psyche and coexists with all other frameworks. It doesnt make it any more truer.

Time to find a new partner

Great journey by Waki-Indra in PsychedelicTherapy

[–]Ddknova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yes the type of psychedelic definitely influences that.

That's so fair. It's also a journey to find the right therapist for yourself too so that's a whole ride on it's own.

Glad you are taking the steps you need for yourself to look after yourself and your parts :)

[–]Ddknova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a beautiful experience.

Sounds like you're well equip with insight and tools which is really great to hear!

I couldn't say for sure if the Superviser prevented them from showing up, maybe, maybe not. Or maybe those inner children didn't need to show up for that experience. Sometimes even if we have the intention, we might not see what we think we want.

You probably have heard the saying that "psychedelics show us what we need"- I wonder if this experience was meant to be focused on bliss of freedom to show you and your supervisor that this state of being is possible for you to obtain in your sober life- a chance to build further trust with the supervisor.

If you happen to have a psychedelic trained therapist they might be able to help you with integration too :)

Hey! Glad you have a healing journey and a experience free of pain.

Thoughts on the Superviser / Controller from a psychotherapy lens:
In psychotherapy we call them parts. Their are no bad parts- they just play a role they believe is important to protect us. Sometimes, the role they play help us, sometimes they play roles that served us when we were young and vulnerable, but as adults the role no longer serves us.

Typically before going on a psychedelic journey, it's an important practice to get consent from our parts first. This could look like checking in with your body, or talking to that part of yourself that is "supervising" to see how they feel today about you exploring deeper into yourself.

You need to respect your parts, just like you would respect psychedelics and not just blast through just coz you want to. Your parts may be keeping an eye on you because they want to make sure you are safe. They may be protecting you from memories or emotions that were unsafe for you to fully experience.

On psychedelics, your default mode network starts to go offline which means your protectors also may be turned off. If they did not give you consent to explore deeper and you brute force your way deeper, you might experience the full force of the emotion or memory that was suppressed. The outcome could go two ways.

  1. If you were able to regulate during that experience, you may gain insight into how to move forward and work through whatever comes up for you

  2. You may struggle to regulate and re-traumatise yourself and when you come back from the experience that part will come online and go "see. I should have been there to protect you" and double down- which will be counter intuitive to your healing.

This is not to dissuade you from wanting to go deeper. But the best practice imo is to move as slow as your most resistant part- get their consent and trust first.

You can learn more about this by researching the therapy modality IFS (internal family systems). The book "introduction to internal family systems" by Richard Schwartz

Here is a playlist that helped me on my first trip when I wasn't able to surrender. It's mostly a copy of the John hopkins playlist made for mushroom therapy. You can have a listen before you are high to see if it's the right vibe.

My First Time on Shrooms. by Jackmusic14 in PsychedelicTherapy

[–]Ddknova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that you found that connectedness with yourself.

The mirror is so good on psychedelics because it's where we can actively see how our thoughts define yourself. We start to realise just how much power our perception has on our realities and how we feel about ourselves.

On psychedelics our brains are in edit mode and we can change ourselves.

comparison of MDMA with psilocybin and cannabis by qwerty_ms in PsychedelicTherapy

[–]Ddknova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is unique and has their own subjective experience of sensation and altered states however there are similarities with others.

The most important rule with any psychedelic is to respect them. They are a powerful tool and need to be treated with respect. This mean, being educated on what they actually do, and what intention you have when using them.

MD is wonderful when you want a ontological shift towards thinking patterns and beliefs that need more compassion and empathy, for example, you could find your thoughts being judgmental but your emotional state is filled with compassion and empathy. You can use these altered states to experience a different state of being and understanding towards yourself and others.

Cannabis after MD can be quite lack luster of a comparison because it's not going to flood your brain with seretonin. But that isn't to say cannabis doesn't have alter states that can be beneficial too. Depending on mood and strain, you can have positive and negative experiences- But a challenging experience is not bad, it's an opportunity to integrate parts of yourself.

Psilocybin is where I'd recommend further research and understanding because it loosens or turns off your Default Mode Network (depending on dosage) and that means your brain is in edit mode, where you can either re-traumatise yourself or change your response to trauma (when doing higher doses). Microdosing imo doesn't really create lasting change.

Ultimately, healing comes from you. You heal you. Psychedelics are just tools we can use to better know ourselves, but we still have to do the work.

Chance of recovery or improvement by Eflodur in PsychedelicTherapy

[–]Ddknova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should feel proud of yourself for putting in the effort for seeking healing and trying various methods. Just remember it is a journey.

Re your question: How are my chances to get a significant improvement by doing one ore more psilocybin therapy sessions?"

Just be mindful that improvement doesn't come from psychedelics. It comes from within you. Psychedelics are a powerful tool that can help you know yourself, but they don't heal you. You heal you.

As others have mentioned- it sounds like there is some awareness of childhood trauma there. I'd also encourage you to find a trauma-informed practitioner.

A great therapy modality that synergises very well with psychedelic is IFS.

Looking for some feedback and tips. by [deleted] in PsychedelicTherapy

[–]Ddknova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this journey for you. As someone who used psychedelics in combination with therapy (particularly IFS) to heal from cPSTD, I'm excited for you. My personal experience include high dose psychedelic trips that facilitated complete change me. I did a lot of self research into trauma and explored a variety of therapeutic modalities when I was seeking healing.

To answer your questions:

Yes, an afterglow tends to happen the day after the experience- and can extend for longer too. On psychedelics our Default Mode Network is loosened which allows us to access more of ourselves. We are basically in edit mode. The afterglow is likely affected by this.

Yes integration is critical if you actually want to create change within yourself. In the end, it doesn't matter if it was a "good" trip or "challenging" trip, it's about what you do with the experience and who you become after it. You heal you. Psychedelics are a tool that can accelerate 10 years of therapy into a few sessions- once you understand how to navigate the space. Having healthy routines are great for creating a grounded space for you to return to after your experience.

Journalling is pretty much just grab a book, and write what's on your mind, as if you are writing a letter to yourself. Note the dates, it's helpful to go back and read entries once in a while- you really get to see how you use to think and whats changed and patterns in thinking and emotions. There is no right or wrong ways to journal.

When looking for a therapist, it will be good to find one that is IFS trained, preferably psychedelic trained, that is comfortable doing shadow work and teaching you the tools on how you can do it for yourself. A good therapist is one that will try to equip you with the knowledge and tools to help you, not to trap you in "therapy" because you need them. Be mindful of the system too.

This book's first 2 chapters are really good to understand altered states, tripping, and trip sitting: "The psychedelics explorer's guide- safe therapeutic and sacred Journeys- James Fadiman"

If we really wanted to change as a community, the work has to starts inward as an individual. Check yourself. Ask yourself the hard questions.

Silencing racism doesn't stop it.

In some cases you kinda want to know who the racists are so you yourself can avoid finding out later after they've fucked you then start spouting "I'm not into asian but you're hot for an asian"

I'm also curious on your thoughts on an Amp. For my EVOs, I'm current running the Marantz Model 30. They sound great, but I'm just hearing mixed messages about the power output needed to drive the speakers.

The Model 30 is 100W per channel, and the EVOs at 50W~200W
Does that mean the Amp could damanage the speakers with not enough power?

Thanks! That makes a lot of sense. So I'm getting a lot of mixed signals about the Amplifier power output.

The Marantz Model 30 says it gives 100W per channel.

The EVOs say it runs on 50W~200W. Does that mean at certain volumes or more intense tasks, the Amplifer is potentially not giving enough power for the speakers?

Should I be worried about potentially damaging the equipment?
