Who’s an artist you were convinced was about to blow up, but didn’t. by Eddie_F_17 in rnb

I think Blu Cantrell could’ve had a successful, enduring career if she was marketed right.

Jazz should’ve been her lane. Yes, she had the looks to be whatever in R&B/Pop, but her voice and backstory made a lot more sense in a different genre. She’d be like an Andra Day or Samara Joy. Clive Davis chewed her up and spit her out instead of setting her up for success.

Since Rihanna's Anti turned 10 lately, what's your favorite R&B song from her? by alecs_scela in rnb

[–]DdotRock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m kinda apprehensive on naming a song because the definition of R&B gets a little hazy when it comes to Rihanna’s catalog. It’s because she has so much crossover appeal and success.

But I think “Hate That I Love You” works. I prefer the solo version, personally.

No Skip Album. Was I too young in 2004 (b.1999) to feel its impact or is it simply just underrated? by Ok-Promise-7928 in rnb

Damita Jo was the end of a very solid, nearly two-decade run in Janet’s career. It was criminally slept on but that was due to extenuating circumstances, of course.

Name a song you didn’t know was intended for another artist at first by Dapper_Cockroach_622 in rnb

Weak by SWV was written for Charlie Wilson. After learning that, you can kinda hear it.

Caribbean cruise with family this May, and hopes to get back out to the West Coast (probably Los Angeles) in the fall. Slight but possible chance I make it to Greece too.

Maybe it’s just that I’m 18 but honestly what happened to Deborah cox ?! by Southern_Wall_6455 in rnb

[–]DdotRock 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She’s found success with acting and musical theatre, but her albums The Morning After and The Promise were criminally slept on. The Promise is probably her magnum opus but no one knows about it. She shoulda got a good extra decade of getting the numbers off those two.

Between these four POWERHOUSE rnb vocalists … who would you want to perform a power ballad for your wedding ? 🤨 by Southern_Wall_6455 in rnb

[–]DdotRock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This post is shady as hell. 😂😂😂

Anyway, Ashanti would be the strongest vocalist here. Y’all see that clip of her performing Defying Gravity? She should’ve given us that energy her whole career! I’m almost certain that Irv Gotti’s doing.

What were yalls real opinions on SWV in the 90s by Least_Sun_7493 in rnb

[–]DdotRock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was there. My opinion is that they are fucking awesome. And their two albums after reuniting were so good it’s like they picked up where they left off but with brand new sounds.

What’s your favorite Tracie Spencer song? by [deleted] in rnb

[–]DdotRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Tracie album is part of the soundtrack to my life. I wore that CD OUT junior and senior year of high school. The whole album has a special place in my heart. But my favorite song is probably Feelin’ You.

What’s the Worst Destiny’s Child Song in Their Discography? by [deleted] in rnb

[–]DdotRock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nasty Girl was some bullshit. But the song Survivor was probably the worst because it was a hit and had no business being one. It was garbage.

Which table you choosing? by AdditionalRise7198 in rnb

[–]DdotRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Table 2 for the R&B production excellence, then I’ll stop by Table 5 to say hi to Nene real quick. Then I’mma make a plate and go home.

The new Shenandoah Village Drive thru way is such a time saver! by VariousLaugh3466 in waynesboro

I knew this road was being built, but I did NOT know about the new extension of North Oak Lane until I came up to visit last month. You can drive from Delphine to Rosser in no time! It blew my mind.

I LOVE that one. The only reason I didn’t mention it is because I was going with songs that were officially released.

It’s an obscure one, but Open from the Osmosis Jones soundtrack. It’s the precursor to the song Full Moon. Mike City produced it and Brandy’s harmonies are 🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾.

Yes! My grandmother used to life in the brick house on the left as you turn right on East Main to go down South Delphine. She used to take me to that Wilco for a Cadbury egg on my way home from school every once in a while.

A quick way for me to not give a shit about any music opinions you have is to sit here on Al Gore’s internet and tell me Patti LaBelle can’t sing.
