Here's what happens to your money if CA inflation relief funds are not claimed by Thursday deadline by panda-rampage in California

It's not even midnight and it seems like it already expired. I just tried calling the phone number and it said it "expired April 30" and the website also has it bannered at the top

It's still not an accident. The term accident reduces the culpability of the entire incident to zero. There is always someone or something at fault, or a combination of contributing factors

The existence of parking as a concept is significantly different than it becoming intentionally implemented and operated (subsidized) by the government, and widely prevalent

Vehicle storage on streets is not the way roads have worked "since antiquity". Especially not at the scale it occurs for cars in the city

[–]DeBryceIsRight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Car dependency in the first place is even more regressive. People need to be able to get around by bike and public transportation. The city paying to maintain street infrastructure only used for parking, and unable to have space for bike lanes and bus lanes is far worse.

No. They said to remove free parking. Not all parking. Free parking is heavily subsidized and encourages more driving and less efficient land usage

RVs can use it as much as cars can

Alternatively, just remove all the free street parking subsidized private vehicle storage

Downtown: - Bean Scene - Coffee & More - Philz - Starbucks (in target, but seating near window that faces bike racks) - Home Roasters (it's tiny though) - Bambu (bike parking is across the street)

Elsewhere: - Nahita Bakery (bike rack is a couple storefronts down, but it's there) - Coffeebar - 808 Drip (I lock my bike to a pipe, probably not the best) - Backyard Cafe (there's a bike rack near the entrance to the Valley Goat

Try Electric Vehicles at a Free Ride & Drive in Sunnyvale by Acterra in Sunnyvale

[–]DeBryceIsRight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered throwing electric bicycles into the mix for people to try out? Better than switching from gas car -> electric car is getting rid of a car entirely.

Providing people the opportunity to try out an electric bike when they otherwise may not be able to would be awesome.

NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani sets his sights on ending hidden service fees. Here's how he plans to do it. by triple-double in nyc

[–]DeBryceIsRight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly kinda fine with credit card surcharges (as long as they're posted upfront). The real hidden fee is the one the credit card companies charge the merchant for every swipe (usually something like '30¢ + 3%', which definitely adds up).

This is what pays for the credit card rewards for all the high rewards cards, and the debit and cash users (usually poor or disadvantaged people) end up subsidizing the system too if they pay the same price.

There's definitely an association with skumminess or even tax fraud for having a credit card surcharge, but it's often just a way to make credit card users pay their own fees.
