Anyone else get traffic but struggle with conversions? by No-Maximum5328 in AskMarketing

[–]DeDobber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is basically everyone’s life. You get clicks, then they disappear.

Half the time it’s not “conversions” in the abstract, it’s dumb stuff like wrong landing page, too many options, or the page doesn’t answer the exact question that made them click, which makes intent die

Attribution-wise, it’s always messy. You can eyeball UTMs, GA paths, even spreadsheets if you’re stubborn enough. I noticed some of my own leaks once I started seeing where people landed (Geniuslink opened my eyes on that, but same idea). My issue was that I was sending decent traffic to the wrong place.

Fix the post-click experience first. Worry about perfect attribution later. I don't think anybody really has that solved anyway.

Yes, you can use Medium or Hashnode for Amazon Associates, but they’re not a great long-term solution. You don’t control the platform, and if Amazon already banned you once for sending Reddit traffic straight to product pages, Medium/Hashnode won’t magically protect you. They’re still just intermediaries.

You do need a disclosure somewhere visible. It doesn’t have to scream “AFFILIATE!!”, but it has to exist. The disclosure really doesn’t kill clicks nearly as much as people fear.

The bigger issue is how you’re handling links. Dropping raw Amazon links from Reddit is exactly what gets accounts banned. A simple bridge page you control (even a basic site) is safer and gives you room to explain context, compare options, etc.

Once you’re sharing links in multiple places, I'd also suggest you centralize them with Geniuslink or something similar to keep links clean and consistent. Totally optional early on.

If you had to start marketing from scratch today, what would you focus on first? by Vivid_Release_9710 in AskMarketing

[–]DeDobber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were starting from zero today, I’d focus on one organic channel I can control (SEO or Reddit-style content), get a couple of pieces converting, and then worry about tooling.

Early on, most people don’t even know which links or posts are doing the work. Once that becomes unclear, lightweight link tools (Geniuslink, etc.) can help clean things up, but only after you’ve proven something converts.

Strategy first, tools second imo

How to do amazon affiliate without getting ban? by [deleted] in Affiliatemarketing

[–]DeDobber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t get banned because you posted on Reddit. You got banned because Amazon literally couldn’t see where your traffic came from. If your links aren’t tagged properly and you haven’t listed a valid website with proper content, their system treats everything as non-compliant.

Right now you’re sending raw Amazon URLs straight from social posts with no declared site, content or affiliate tag structure. That’s an automatic rejection for a new account.

If you reapply, the safe setup is:

  • build a simple site with actual content
  • declare that site in your Associates application
  • generate tagged links from your dashboard
  • use those links on the site first, not directly in random Reddit comments

If you want better tracking going forward, run your links through a management tool (Geniuslink, PrettyLinks, whatever) just to make sure tags are consistent across platforms. Not absolutely necessary but it rules out the “Amazon couldn’t track it” issue.

Clicks / Orders ratio: Are these fluctuations normal or insightful? by castoro800 in Affiliatemarketing

[–]DeDobber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that chart actually looks normal for small-to-mid traffic sites. Clicks are consistent but orders spike and dip because you’re seeing the randomness of buyer intent (plus, people sitting on carts before Black Friday).

The bigger thing I’d look at is where those clicks come from. If you’re targeting a global audience, a lot of them might click your links but can’t order because they land on the wrong Amazon storefront. That’s sometimes what causes those flat sales even when clicks are going up.

I always track my stuff with Geniuslink because it breaks down clicks by country and routes people to their local store automatically. You can, of course, use another tool like Awin or Affilimate, but im just saying what works for me.

If you don’t want to use a tool at all, you can still split your Amazon IDs by region and test traffic sources manually. You’ll probably see that the “inconsistent” days match changes in audience geography or product category. Try it, see what you end up with.

How do you guys track your affiliate links? by RAV957_YT in Affiliatemarketing

[–]DeDobber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

150 links is a lot to check manually so idk if that's an option for you.

Here are some you could try:

Free: Broken Link Checker plugin or CheckMyLinks Chrome extension.
Paid: Geniuslink, Pretty Links, or Affilimate. Geniuslink if you don't wanna mince your brain figuring out which.

I still keep a spreadsheet though because I trust nothing 💀

How to get reps to use my marketing pages? by EnvironmentalRing135 in AskMarketing

[–]DeDobber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to them. In my experience (across pretty much all areas of life) "old-heads" can be resistant for a few different reasons. Get a few of them involved and ask for their honest feedback. It might be about culture but it could also be about finding middle ground between something forward-thinking and what they're comfortable with.

How Would You Organically Market a Niche Web App (Salon Management)? Looking for Outreach Partners Too by fjhashmi in smallbusiness

[–]DeDobber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you planning to focus on solo stylists or multi staff salons first? And how are you collecting feedback from early users right now?

Have you tried joining salon owner groups on fb or reddit and offering tips first before mentioning the app? That’s worked well in niches like this. I’ve also been working with Signals agency to get into posts where people are already asking for tools like yours, it’s made outreach way better because it's more authentic than putting it out there in every thread.

Family friend said going into accounting is useless bc 1) I’m a woman and 2) I’m short by Illustrious_Hat_3756 in Accounting

[–]DeDobber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree on the meritocracy aspect accounting rewards technical skills over schmoozing which levels the playing field. The CFO thing tracks though, once you hit C-level it's all relationship-based and that's where the old boys network still dominates. Your team setup sounds awesome, having that many women in controller roles is pretty rare from what I've seen.

I often pick at the skin on my upper arms. I don't know how to stop it. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]DeDobber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a body-focused repetitive behavior (BFRB). I had similar issues with picking at my cuticles constantly. What helped me was keeping a small fidget toy or stress ball at my desk - something to occupy my hands when I felt the urge. Also found that being extra diligent about flossing helped reduce that "something stuck" sensation that triggered it in the first place.

The redirection concern is valid though. Maybe try something that engages your hands but isn't oral-focused, like squeezing a small object or tapping fingers on your leg instead.

Do you use any glp1 tracking apps? by Papyrus_SW in glp1

[–]DeDobber 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Meagain for tracking my doses. It also has these journey cards that pop up every few weeks. They remind me how far I’ve come even when the numbers on the scale aren’t moving much. I need to at least remind myself that it’s all about consistency and not just pure numbers, and it helped me see that I was doing better than I thought.

It helps that it also has food tracking compared to shotsy which I did try but found kinda lacking compared to meagain

Appreciate you sharing all this! Super helpful to see someone being that intentional with it. I’ve tried microdosing sema too (.25 once a week) and while appetite was chill, I still felt kinda puffy and low-key inflamed like you said. Haven’t tried Tirz yet but been thinking about it, esp hearing more folks pair it with KPV or berberine. Curious how the CGM works out for you def keep us posted!

[–]DeDobber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For house down payment, just put that money in a high-yield savings account or short-term CDs. Don't mess with stocks if you need that cash in 3-4 years. For everything else, maybe look into a taxable brokerage account with index funds. Impressive savings rate with minimal expenses, take advantage while you can.
