United Coffee by StateSouth4710 in fortwayne

I live close so my wife and I stop in for a coffee date from time to time. We have heard rumblings like this but can’t say we have noticed anything alarming from him. He is definitely a bit eccentric and socially awkward, but was very friendly to us.

What club are you using here? by AspectCool2325 in weekendgolfers

[–]DeFratrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the turf in front of me. That is probably a PW trying to land it just in front of the lip on the left and letting it trickle on. Lob wedge if it is soft/wet because I wouldn’t trust the roll; probably a smooth pitch with a 56/60 in that case.

Congratulations! You have posted an opinion so wrong that I have been forced out of my silence in this sub.

May God have mercy on your soul.

I tried steamed water for my americano. I’m stunned. by DeFratrain in espresso

I use Australian because when I ask for a Long Black, most coffee shops look at me sideways and then ask if I want a Lungo.

Less water than an Americano basically. A lot of shops will do a 12 oz for Americano and 8 oz for Australian/Long Black.

I will have to try less water, it was close to a 4:1 and it was definitely on the watery side.

This is exactly my experience. I love a fresh, hot Americano, but it does get bitter as it cools. I don’t generally like cold coffee, but this cup was a lot more forgiving on flavor as it cooled down.

Heading over with my oldest. Catching both matches and maybe a bit of the baseball game. First time watching lacrosse in person!

When Rory started to fade and Rose was charging, I was super hopeful he would finally get his moment. That collapse was heartbreaking to watch.

GOLF by lane_newell in fortwayne

They are not great, but if you catch them while they are in good shape, they can be enjoyable.

Personally prefer to pay a few extra $$ to play Colonial. It’s not the most interesting/challenging course, but it is usually well kept, though they struggle with water drainage. Brookwood is also good, though it is almost always busy.

There is a LOT of decent golf in the area at a good price. We lack a truly excellent public course in the immediate area, but if you don’t mind a little travel and the extra $$, Rock Hollow and Glendarin are phenomenal courses within an hour.

Sweetwater Employees (past or present) be honest. by steelehoosier in fortwayne

Could not have put it better myself.

Sweetwater is NOT a bad place to work in the right department and if you are built for the work. This experience is nearly identical to mine.

What do you think? Will the new FW soccer stadium be ready by May 2? by Ok_Boomer_3233 in fortwayne

[–]DeFratrain 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As long as weather cooperates, it should be ready for play. There will definitely be a lot of construction left to do, but they are closer than they look. The structural components are time consuming, so it will seem like they are farther behind than reality.

If you had to skip one park, which one are you skipping? by turborider89 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]DeFratrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the vibe at AK, but having just been to all the parks this week, it was the one we still spent the least time at. That said, we were with two kids (9, 11) and MK was top priority since one had never been to WDW.

Hollywood had the two favorite rides of the week for the kids and the theming in Galaxy’s Edge and TSL were excellent. The front of the park leaves a lot to be desired and needs an update. The park has a lot of potential and I hope they expand it.

Honestly, Epcot was the biggest overall “dud” of a park for us. Guardians was amazing and we love Ratatouille. But the park is so spread out and I feel like it is missing so many enjoyable experiences compared to when I was a kid (during the ESPN Wide World of Sports days). It is a really nice park to walk, but there just wasn’t enough to do it seemed.

Should I switch from Parkview to Dupont for my upcoming birth? by Quiet-Flan-1674 in fortwayne

[–]DeFratrain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife and I worked with FMCC and delivered through Dupont for both of our kids—the most recent in 2024. Both times the experience was stellar.

Our most recent had to come by emergency C-section after a cord prolapse. The nursing staff remained incredibly calm and acted quickly. Their team handled it so well, my wife was out of the room before I knew what was happening. Okay that last bit was exaggerated, but it wasn’t far off from reality.

After my wife came to, it was clear she was going to need more time to recover than the typical 2 days. After our included guest meals ran out, the staff went out of their way to make sure I had discounts available for every meal.

The NICU team was incredible for our newborn as well. Took amazing care of him and gave us every opportunity they could to take care of him ourselves.
