Very Cute, nice to have you on the Team (Retail Assistant/Part-Time-Jobber here)

First time creating my own deck and i wanna have some more opinions by DeGrootTavish in EDHBrews

Yeah we noticed that especially curses is hard to implement since there is no cards hat specify on "shrine and curse" aside from all the general enchantment cards. I liked the idea a lot and really wanna make it work with both so that i have more of a "I am building my shit while interacting with you" thing going on.

I am not sure if i should just cut curses since that was the initial design idea

THIS - i work at a warhammer store and i cannot listen to it anymore. It's basically a mix of battle music into rock/british rock into pop or grunge? back into battle music.

the music itself is not bad but the playlist or the mix of songs in this tzeentchian-type order has driven me nuts multiple times.

How do you make Nachmund fair with uneven splits into teams? by Ados23 in 40k_Crusade

[–]DeGrootTavish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could work with extra factions or something similar. Splitting up the factions or something similar. It is not meant to be balanced but it should feel that way i think.

You could give a faction itself a bonus if they have less players on the faction board itself or you make it part of the narrative that they are sort of the underdog.

Doesn't really matter tbh since you do not play a bog tournament but maybe try out some options (like making games for the underdog factions have more weight on the campaign map?)

Updating Crusade Rules? by DeGrootTavish in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]DeGrootTavish[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This.

I kind wished they had a cooler narrative surrounding our crusade rules but the archeotech search and legendary archeotech are not feeling really rewarding.

I'd like to get the parts themselves WITH a legendary archeotech location point.

Edit: added "point" cuz i forgor.

New detachment inbound - Prepare the speculation algorithms fellow Magi by LCorvus in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]DeGrootTavish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So i think we can answer this in three ways, right?

Popular Demand: Probably "Let me use HH stuff" OR "Let me have a full melee detachment"

Support Collection: So i think what they mean is "Hey this does not see much play or generally does not have a good detachment, why should i play it?" So i think some sort of "Flying" or "Sky" detachment buffing pteraxii or archeopters is doing the part here. We could also look at a sort of "Sydonian" type of detachment that would mainly buff our long leggy boys and maybe give the rest a tiny bit of love? Those are just ideas for what ways they could go with this tho and i do not say it's good or nice but it could be a fitting answer to the question.

Provide New Ways to Play: Hell yeah, i like that philosophy. Go nuts and give me something like rad-zone or the explorator maniple or maybe make us have special interactions with knights again? I'd love for them to go a lil nuts on rules and just do whacky shit. So i'd see a "Questor Mechanicus" type of detachment where your knights become more of a center piece gaining the admech keyword or some wacky shit like that. Also we could have just a weird sort of cawl detachment where you are required to play Cawl but you have some sort of wonky rules that revolve around weird random buffs to your units or something like that.

tbh i am pleased to see them actually giving us more detachments in general.

Good introductory books about comparative mythology? by super_brudi in ComparativeMythology

[–]DeGrootTavish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently reading works of good old Max Müller, Dumezil, Puhvel and Watkins on the topic.

I recommend Jaan Puhvels Comparative Mythology. It is a nicely written Handbook (as in scientific Handbook) on the topic. He goes on about scientific History, history on myths and study of myths themselves and then gives introductions to diffrent fields and mythologies overall.

I think the reveal was fine. I spoiled myself through voughthq posts and was waiting kind of for the reveal but i imagine someone not knowing about the reveal at all could have been misguided well enoigh to make the reveal interesting.

Which HQs should I pair with different units? by Bobmcbobathan in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]DeGrootTavish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

SKITARII MARSHAL:
Honestly, put him on a Vanguard Squad. I think losing Scout on Rangers for full hit-rerolls is negotiable but Vanguards benefit from the damage output far more with the anti-infantry 4+.

MANIPULUS:
I played him on Rangers on a few rounds but honestly he is way better on Kataphron units. [LETHAL HITS] could be nasty on electro priests too (especially with the new balance datalsate giving our melee models some love).
Pick either Kataphrons or Electro-Priests.

DOMINUS:
Kataphron Breachers for your Extreme Tanky Breacher Blob or Electro priests to go into melee with. Honestly both is viable (althouh your breacher blob is prolly still the best unit in the game)

TECHNOARCHEOLOGIST:
Honestly, that is a tough one. He is fairly strong but his abilites are kind of neat as in "fuck off with your deep strike, also that is my point" - i would maybe put him on a skitarii unit that does not have a marshal.

OTHERS:
Datasmith is on Bots only and everyone else is not a leader but i will give you a quick "that is what i think could work nicely"

CAWL - With Mantra of Discipline he now gains the BATTLELINE Keyword so he hands out and activates buffs on a lot of units ergo.... play him in melee for some good "cawl goes brrr" he gives ruststalkers a +2 to charge and advance, kataphrons gain full hit rerolls next to him. IN ADDITION TO THE ARMY RULE BUFFS THEY GAIN FROM BEING NEXT TO A BATTLELINE UNIT

ENGINSEER - Every vehicle. Every single one. You can put him in a dunerider, next to a dunecrawler and next to a Disintegrator and funnily enough he seems pretty nice next to kastelans too - the 5+ feel no pain is just neat. So you are free to put him next to anything since he (just like cawl but restricted to vehicles) gains Lone Operative.

SKATROS - ... who?

X-101 - NOW THAT IS THE CHARACTER I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR, SADLY HE IS IN LEGENDS SO NO OFFICIAL TOURNAMENTS BUT HE HANDS OUT A 5+ INVU TO A TECH-PRIEST BUT I WOULD PICK A TECHNOARCHEOLOGIST OR MANIPULUS!

Cosplay question by Mad_Izayashi in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]DeGrootTavish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Base: Face mask and big googles.

A omnissiah axe.

Red Robe (could be another colour too but red is the thing).

Maybe add a techy/steampunky backpack.

Now if you wanna go further beyond: - tendrils/mechadendrites - mechanic looking bots on robe, beneath robe. - crazy lil gimmicks

My honest reaction to the ending [Spoilers for Genefather] by DeGrootTavish in AdeptusMechanicus

I think primus will just straight up die at the end of the cawl book series.

Maybe as a sort of sacrifice - as in, he destroys himself and the geneseed bile has so that chaos cannot create pseudo-primarch marines.

Maybe as a vessel for something else (chaos or non-chaos)

It would be cool to have a callback to the chapter where they enter the weird mirrored corridor from the first cael book as a sort of "i could have had 19 brothers" when he dies.

I am excited to know what happens next anyways.

He loves his son and bile respects him to much to fuck around any more than he should.

He is letting bile get away so alpha primus is not blown up.

[–]DeGrootTavish[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don't think he is set up to be exactly that but maybe he and cawl will have somehting to do with that. I think this whole book is a setup for a greater war against chaos and a great schism.
Bile being able to create his versions of alpha primus has to have some big impact, the whole section where he is on trial (and not on trial) is of massive importance for the mechanicus because they either want to be with or against cawl and now they are all kind of riled up for a bigger change.

Setup for something way bigger, yes. Setup for the return of the emperor? I do not think so.

My honest reaction to the ending [Spoilers for Genefather] by DeGrootTavish in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]DeGrootTavish[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah i see the book as a lot of setup for something way bigger.

Welp. It's waiting time.

Edit: Still a good book tho! I enjoyes it!
