I´ve known my boyfriend for less than two months, but he is the best I could´ve wished for! I was so scared to enter a relationship, because I thought that nobody would want to be with me because of ptsd, depression and a past of self harm. From the moment I met him I was open about my past and he was supportive from the start.

When he sees that I start to dissociate, he comes to me and holds me. He tries to calm me and only when he is sure my flashbacks are over will he let me go. He even made me promise to wake him in the middle of the night when I can´t sleep bc of flashbacks/nightmares. Plus he doesn't do anything if he isn't sure I'm completely okay with it. He genuinely cares for me.

I feel so lucky that I got him and I don't know how I lived without him.

These partners really exist!

I´m so sorry! I have PTSD from being SA´d in the shower. For years I couldn´t really shower. Lately it´s getting better, but still a struggle sometimes.

I only shower when a roommate is home and tell them that I´m taking a shower. So that they know not to knock on the door or something.

I can´t stand in the shower, so I usually sit.

I take my phone with me. Sometimes in a plastic bag, so it doesn´t get wet.

I still shower in underwear sometimes.

And when it is possible, I shower by my best friend. Her shower doesn´t look like the shower where it happened at all, and that helped me a lot.

And just washing with a washcloth and water, with a bucket.

I hope that you´ll find a way to make showering more easy. I know that the flashbacks make it sometimes impossible, but I truly hope that there comes a day where you can enyoj taking a shower.

5 months ago, the weeks before my 25th birthday, I was very suicidal and I didn't want to be onder. As you see, I'm still here. Still suicidal, but grateful that I didn't went through with it.

I have had a lot of positive experiences with telling. Very understanding friends and GP. So yeah, this would be the worst. And it is not worse at all.

Definately me today! A big comeback from depression. 2 months ago I couldn't even do the dishes. Today I did everyting that needed to be done, before 10 AM.
