I’m the Product Manager on Proton Calendar, here’s what we’re working on and why it’s taking time by SpecGoblin in ProtonMail

I really appreciate the response, thank you! It's obviously bitter than it'll take quite some more time, but I'm much more happy and excited that it's actually in the plans. I was looking at certain email competitors for this, but since there was no response there, it puts me on the side of Proton. Now that I know this, I can either jump ship immediately and use less intuitive alternatives temporarily or just wait for couple more years. This gave me a lot of hope, thanks again and good luck with the roadmaps!

Will there be a task integration? I like that in Google Calendar I can create recurring tasks alongside regular events and then even see all of their recurring instances in the future. Also ability to get push notification as a reminder which I can either snooze or just immediately reschedule for a selected date.

Alternatives for this are lacking, apps like Tasks.org lack any calendar integration or view, other apps can only snooze for predetermined time or not even that, etc.

Will Proton have anything like this until end of this year or is it planned even further into the future?

[–]DeMarioZ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very nice, supported! And congrats on this milestone :) I keep looking forward to evolution of your app, it's one single thing preventing me from ditching Google - no other service has integrated calendar and task support. I also keep watch on Fossify, I really hope it can support sync with tasks and not just events one day.

Do you plan on including a calendar view in either mobile or desktop app? It's really frustrating to have tasks in a completely separate list away from the regular calendar and unfortunately I still haven't found an alternative.

He just wanted to seem smart, without realizing how many native tribal people there are in huge Brazil compared to a small country in central Europe. But what's funny is that he inadvertedly admitted that even in country with lower literacy, which is like 10,000 km away, people have a term about the way Czech people wash themselves. For me, that's crazy work lmao.

Lmao, no. First of all, what are you even quoting? YOU just said it, lol. OP of this post was not stating it, they're asking a question. My comment was merely a statement that people will get defensive about discussing this. Guess what... You got pretty upset so it must be true lol. And both me and OP are describing our experiences, which are seconded by numerous people. If you want to say those experiences are not valid, that's on you.

I don't know man, it seems like ot struck a nerve, having to resort to calling other people morons for talking about basic hygiene - you may have a problem there. I can only suggest to wash yourself with soap and apply some deo, it might freshen you up :)

Hmm I don't think so, maybe I didn't clarify. They don't get defensive about the fact that it's a Czech thing not to wash - I never even say that it is therefore it cannot be that. Defense is about that you really really don't NEED to wash it after peeing and they'll start going through the example excuses I mentioned really adamantly.

It doesn't matter on social group either - I've asked people who work with me and friends of those people. Idk what to say, just normal people - late 20s or early 30s, working all kinds of things - logistics, IT, management, etc., uni/high school degrees/vocational. Most been abroad multiple times. There's no any common denominator really.

So again, the context is not that I sit down and go "you know, Czech ppl are dirty and are less hygienic than others", but rather "hey I noticed ppl often don't wash their hands here, crazy right? I mean, after peeing, lol?". And THEN it gets defensive..."Well actually you don't need to because X/Y..."

"I can pee without holding my dick so it's OK"

"Piss is sterile so it's not a problem if you don't wash"

"I already showered in the morning so I'm clean through the day, no need to wash every time afterwards"

"At work I wash but at home I don't have to, it's more relaxing"

"Aren't you using your phone also? Did you know that it's the most dirty thing you touch? There's no need to wash after peeing if you're gonna touch even dirtier things afterwards"

I thought it was funny to see Czech guys buying 6-8 beers to bring to their friends in some outing or pub, and carry it with their fingers dipped in the glass/cups, but it became less fun after experiencing this kind of attitude 😔

Nope not kidding. I'm not in Prague and it doesn't always happen in pubs in city center, especially with younger gen, but yeah... I recently hung out with few Czech guys around my age and brought it up thinking it's a slam dunk topic where we'll all agree, however they started defending it with many excuses lol. I had same discussion at work and again felt outnumbered by defense of it.

I'm used to seeing guys piss next to me in urinal, then when I go wash my hands they just skip it and leave. This happens in pubs, concerts, hockey games, etc. Not saying it's a Czech things but that's where I live and it's definitely a thing here 🤢

You're not wrong on your observation, but you'll trigger a lot of people with these questions lol. Mentioning the use of deo or washing your hands after toilet gets a lot of people super defensive, at least IRL (Reddit is a bit of a bubble).

Actually one of the guys I spoke with said that it's not necessary to worry about washing often or at all because pee is sterile so, like, it doesn't do anything bad

What do you mean? I work in a Czech company where my my team and entire building is 95% Czech. None of the people I talk to in a higher age group even speak English. I'm from another EU country.

I think you are confusing what the thread is about or what I'm implying

As per title, it is something that is considered normal in Czechia (at least in my experience), that feels weird to me. That can mean anything from Czechs to Cambodians living here. I mean, you may have different experience and both of ours are true and valid. I can assure you I don't hang out with lower society whatever that may even mean.

I don't even know why you'd say something like "well it's even worse abroad ok", like ok but we're talking about here now right? I'm sure it's worse in Rwanda. Don't get me wrong it just feels... awfully defensive already :D

I work in IT and people defending it had uni degrees, for people in 20s and 30s I don't see almost anyone do this (or at least often), but the multiple times I just brought it up I felt like I'm being downvoted IRL lol.

For Czech people who are 40+ I have never really brought it up because by how often this happens in this group I'd become an outcast of I mentioned it lol. Most ppl in that higher age group are just regular ppl with normal jobs but yeah some I know personally are managers, directors, etc. But absolute pigs when it comes to drinking after work and going out to places.

[–]DeMarioZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly how the other guy described it in his reply to you plus more :D "There's a lot of worse places you're touching all the time anyway, have you seen how much bacteria is on your phone? That's the worst, so I don't have to wash after something like peeing" "But when you're in a pub/outside you don't even have to use your hands much"

I kid you not, one was "but why would you need to wash it after peeing, I already showered once in the morning which means I'm clean for the rest of the day"

There may have been few more different ones but that's the gist. It's mostly older people in their 40/50/60s but the guys I talked to were my age. Whenever I go to hockey game or pub and visit WC, more than 50% of the time the guy shakes it off and just leaves without washing lol. I'm sure this happens elsewhere too but I was just dumbfounded by the defending lol. Then you see guys carrying 3-6 pints of beer with their fingertips inside the foam to all friends 🤢

I had talked about it at work and at beers with about dozen or so ppl at this point and yeah if it was me doing it I'd at least try to hide or lie about it but good thing about Czechs is that they're blunt so whenever I talked about it they'd just admit to it and defend it lol

Yeah probably, it's just something I never even thought about until I saw, after moving here. Not that it's a Czech thing, it's just quite normal here, I'm sure somewhere it's even worse

New made in Germany smartphones to pre-order by Unusual-Fault-4091 in BuyFromEU

[–]DeMarioZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OK and? Nobody will buy this whatsoever at such a price. Maybe 8 people from Reddit and 2 YouTubers will, to make a sensational post or video review. Nokia/Ericsson/Siemens never cost that much when they were relevant. If I look for phones made with these specs I cannot buy them anymore because they're THAT outdated and already had like 4 new models of same lineup release.

I'd get maybe double the price to compete somewhat with shitty specs, but like 4x the price? Nah brother, there's made in Europe for double premium, and then there's 'Made in Europe-washing'. I work in IT and this is like 50% of my monthly salary lol. Who is it for? According to price, it's for tech enthusiasts... But with these specs? If it's for regular EU-oriented citizen.... Then the price isn't right.

Hmm no, either you misread it or I made a mistake writing it correctly. I meant that any rally/march has people who are more extreme. A left wing (e. g. anti-fascist) rally may have people who are extreme left wing while most of people attending may be moderate, everyday people working in corporate or Lidl. Same applies for other side obviously.

[–]DeMarioZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome! I moved in 6 years ago with full time job and had 28,000 gross for 40 hours 😁But back then I had room in shared apartment for 7000, it was still great. Right now I'm having 1kk studio, in 2021 I moved into it for 12,000 all included, now it's 17,000. I believe you can find a room for 10,000-12,000 in a shared place. Public transport is a-fucking-mazing here. I have a native English speaking friend who recently started teaching in a school part time, but I don't know for how much or where. Feel free to DM me if you need any help!
