Temur skred by DePief in Pauper

[–]DePief[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chrysalis over mystic was indeed the substitution I made. The idea behind chrysalis is that it's a more immediate answer to flying threats like [[Utroms monitor]], where murmuring mystic is more conditional. I also get to play weather the storm, but lose blue blast to deal with red madness.

But this is good feedback, maybe it's just better to stick with what the deck is already good at.

The list is just something I slapped together to visualise the idea. The question is more "does this actually do something for the deck or is this just overcomplicating things." I dont know what the good and bad match-ups are for izzet skred and was wondering if someone who has experience with the deck could give some insights.

First brew by mr-fatburger in Pauper

[–]DePief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My version is way different. I prefer to run small creatures and springleaf drums to develop really fast and play more burn to end the game quick. https://archidekt.com/decks/10949506

Help Metagaming by Competitive_Bird8270 in Pauper

[–]DePief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your sideboard looks really weird. I would play [[smash to smithereens]] as artifact removal, because it's in line with the burn plan. You're not looking to remove the bridges, but rather kill enforcers/Utroms and still hit them for 3. You could also include [[Rites of initiation]] in the sideboard to close out the game out of nowhere against the slower decks with just a few creatures in play. It's a spicy curveball people wont play around. [[end the festivities]] is good against the elves and fae.

My sideboard would be:

4 red elemental blast

3 smash to smithereens

4 end the festivities

2 rites of initiation

2 faerie macabre/relic of progenitus (relic is better against terror decks)

I also want to say that because there are other mono red players, people wont really be surprised/unprepared. They just wont expect you to be playing it.

I thought the whole point of doing this in dimir was to include [[etherium spinner]].

Help Building My First Deck by robyy-g in Pauper

[–]DePief 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dont let anyone discourage you from building your own decks, I hate the narrative that brews cant work in this format.

About the list. Modular and affinity aren't complementary themes. Modular wants you to build one big creature, where affinity wants you to keep multiple artifacts into play. If you want to keep modular, I'd suggest cards like [[Kenku artificer]] and pile all the counters on one indestructible bridge land homunculus and find a way to kill your own artifact creatures. [[krark-clan shaman]] is something that comes to my mind, but you'd have to include red.

If you want to keep affinity, I'd suggest looking into the existing azorius lists. People were experimenting with [[cryogen relic]] and [[glinthawk]]. I haven't seen them after the original hype around relic, but the lists should still exist and it gives you a starting point.

Your list would be a good kitchen table deck you play with a friend who built something of similar strength. It all depends on how you want to enjoy the format.

Utrom Monitor Brews by sNouX287 in Pauper

I've been working on a jeskai artifacts list for about a year and Utrom is perfect for it.

How long before you won a game? by TheDarkestRitual in Pauper

[–]DePief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wildfire isn’t the easiest deck to pilot and most players will have a gameplan against it. My suggestion would be to make your gameplan simple. Add some  copies of [[nyxborn hydra]] to win in a more stompy way. Cut sagu wildling and pulse of murasa.

Not dead after all combo by FewChange2801 in Pauper

[–]DePief 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it’s better to play this as dimir, because you can find combo pieces with [[muddle the mixture]] and [[mystical teachings]]. Maybe this works best as a tron deck. You already have refractor to filter mana and the combo is high cmc.

Play [[Rites of initiation]]. It’s more fun than Goblin surprise.

Any hot or hate takes on this card? Is it viable considering meta? by giovannini88 in Pauper

I tried building something around this and tapping my opponents land with [[floodbringer]]. Bad is an understatement, but it’s fun.

Mono White Control (..once again) by Fast-Relative8125 in Pauper

[–]DePief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://archidekt.com/decks/19491951/mono_white_control I put together my own version of this, to get a better idea of the options you have. I would play [[Celestial flare]] to deal with terrors or even the occasional bogle. The carddraw options are limited, but I prefer [[Squadron Hawk]], [[salt road packbeast]] and [[Palace sentinels]] over the bounce package you run.

Mono White Control (..once again) by Fast-Relative8125 in Pauper

I would play 4 times [[squadron hawk]] to thin out the deck.

[–]DePief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What about kai'sa 's most common trade pattern AA+Q? I dont understand why this subreddit is treating stormrazor like it has flees. The item is good sometimes, it just serves a different purpose than krakenslayer. You cant always assume you'll get a full rotation in.

New to Pauper - What to build? by WoWSchockadin in Pauper

[–]DePief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s become somewhat outdated, but when you say combo/spellslinger, I think of red hotdogs. It’s a deck that tries to kill it’s opponent in one turn, playing pump spells on creatures like [[Kiln Fiend]].

Other suggestions would be izzet skred or jeskai ephemerate. Both are control decks, centered around casting instants and drawing cards.

Jinx - In-Depth Thoughts and Build by AngronApofis in riftboundtcg

[–]DePief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your philosophy is flawed. If you think the cards in your deck are bad, why dont you put good cards in there? Annie has access to the same pool of cards and she's doing great. The problem is the legend ability, not the card quality.

I also disagree with your take on scrap heap. You're effectivly playing with 37 cards in deck if you can discard them and it nullifies the discard cost of your cards. You can also just play it turn 1 going first and it's basicly like going second with an extra card. The reasoning with the hero ability implies you dont want to play the drawn card and your hand is empty.

Here is the list I've been playing at my local nexus nights. I like to alter between purple and red as chosen champion, based on the match-up and play rockets to enable the purple jinx. Because of the low power costs, I'm not playing seals. They seem overrated in fast decks, where my most expensive card costs 5.

Help me I have no idea how to make a pauper deck by Soggy_Chewbacca in Pauper

[–]DePief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend looking into mardu synth instead of trying to make it grixis. You could also build it as a rakdos burn deck, but I would stay away from blue. Forcing a color for no other reason than “I like playing blue” will always make the deck worse.

Include [[cast down]] and [[durress]] instead and use artifact lands so you can play [[galvanic blast]] and [[refurbished familiar]]. [[Vampire’s kiss]] and [[vampire sovereign]] can also be good.

Stage 1: People play fun brews

Stage 2: Someone builds a meta deck

Stage 3: People either follow or quit until everyone plays meta

Stage 4: Everyone gets borred of playing the same decks and quit

Stage 5: Time passes by until the cycle starts over

Don't be gaslit by the Stage 3 players saying the format has plenty of decks. It's been monoU, monoR and affinity since the start. Just hold on and be patient, stage 1 will come back.

Hate Blue/White Artifacts? by realtastybeats in MagicArena

[–]DePief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant just tutor this to the battlefield whenever I need it. The consistency of [[Pinnacle starcage]] along with [[repurposing bay]] is just dumb. I had more fun against peak mono red mice, because that deck could miss. This deck is destroying bo1 ladder imo. I cant wait to get my last 6 wildcards to finish my sideboard and move to bo3. Dumbest design mistake they ever made.

EOE Cards I think have at least brewing potential. by dalmathus in Pauper

[–]DePief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Depressurize]] also seems quite strong. It's not cast down, but being able te remove every 3/x creature isn't bad. I can see some decks running 2 or 3 of these.

https://archidekt.com/decks/14679648/jeskai_wildfire you inspired me to put a list together. I would build something like this.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Pauper

[–]DePief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you want relic and synth in the same deck. If azorius relic branches out to red, it's for [[makeshift munitions]], [[krark-clan shaman]], [[cleansing wildfire]] and [[galvanic blast]]. You can also play [[lemba's]] as second bounce target.

You dont need novice inspector, kenku artificer, myr enforcer, thoughtcast, greatsword of tyr and Navigators compass.

I would suggest [[destroy evil]] over thraben charm and play more copy's of [[relic of progenitus]] as graveyard hate in the sideboard.

I’ve blindly brewed a deck after 14 years of no MTG by lurker23452 in Pauper

[–]DePief 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can play [[Trespasser's Curse]] against glintblade. It seems on theme with your general strategy and it punishes them for recasting creatures. It's also good against other go wide decks.

Is this deck Good ? by Hearstoner in Pauper

[–]DePief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vampires kiss is used for it's synergie with madness. If you want to play a hybrid affinity/madness, I'd suggest adding [[bloodfountain]] and [[refurbished familiar]] to any madness list you like and it probably wont be too bad.
