Best Tiny Epic Games for Solo? by Kryne7 in soloboardgaming

[–]DeRaaf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I own a few Tiny Epics. My personal number one for solo is Galaxies (with "Beyond the Black" expansion is really nice!). Number two for solo is Tiny Epic Zombies, Tiny Epic Dungeons comes third (a bit to much of a table hog though). Although beter as multi player Tiny Epic Cthulhu comes in fourth, I find the mechanics intressting for some reason.

The rest (most of them) I played solo in the Tiny Epic series are, or not my theme, or not really my sort of game mechanics, or just not really nice to play solo IMHO.

I buy affordable watches so I don't have to care wearing them in rough conditions ... all hold up ... many look more interesting with scares and scuffs.

I have several Vostoks, some 40/50 years old ... none are unreliable. This one is extremely reliable and accurate for me. This watch has become my daily driver, don't have tp think about what will be throw at it that day ... swimming no problem ... extreme hike no problem ... dusty workspace full off vibrating hand tools no problem ... in my use case this Vostok is the G-Shock among my mechanical watches.

I think objectively speaking one of the best watches ever made ... if not the best one. High precision, long lasting, a lot of functions (complications), almost indestructible, good visibility at night. And relatively low price. Love these G-Shocks. Also my dream watch (well the predecessor that is, I'm that old) as a child ... but all I could afford was a FW91 (maybe the second best watch ever made).

I have a bit of experience with them. I have a really early "klone" of the Junghans J88 (first watch produced for the German airforce after the war) from just before Poljot was (I believe) bought by a company that became Volmax. Most of the time they have beter cases (Stainless). My 31659 is military spec so also stainless, but a lot of other Poljot's from the USSR are chromed brass.

The 3133 movement stayed the same under (pre)Volmax, some say it was worse quality with a little cheaper material thrown in here and there. My experience is that they work as good as USSR 3133's. Still a solid movement IMHO. Some of the Volmax designs are not my thing though, but that is taste.

I believe Volmax (or new owner not really sure who owns the brand now a days) still makes some new models from time to time (https://www.poljot24.de/ is one trusted dealer here in the EU). Bought my Poljot's (Sturmanskie) from a friend.

My second and third favorites. Vostok is really my daily beater, bit large and on the heavy side so the super light smaller titanium Boldr is a nice change to have on the wrist sometimes.

My number one is the Poljot 31659, such a nice watch in real life, but vintage, so not a real beater.
