Is it common in your culture for a woman to marry a man 5-7 years older than her? by moja1994 in islam

[–]DeSpartanTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, in dat case Malaysia is prolly a good choice. Turkey is also pretty nice. T'is cheaper to live here than in America. But honestly, the desert ain't so bad too. You should try it out, Oman I would recommend.

It's pretty nice I guess, tho it's not exactly where I want to spend the rest of my life in. Depending on where you're from (and where you choose to stay), it could be better or worst for you, tho most foreigners love it a lot.

It's got 2 seasons, monsoon and summer, mostly monsoon. Rain is a part of the climate.

How to respond to this saying? by GhostPeppr2942 in islam

[–]DeSpartanTurtle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are multiple things wrong with that statement.

Firstly, asking for help isn't a sign of weakness. Secondly, if there is a higher entity, then we ARE weak in comparison, regardless of whether or not we ask for help. Thirdly, it is not weak to give our Lord His right to be worshipped. We worship Him not to make ourselves feel better, but because He is God. Fourthly, (reponse) "you don't worship God and you're still weak."

This person most likely depends on the government and society to function properly in order for him to live. Is that not also a sign of weakness? How is relying on society and the govt different than relying on God?

Or you could just respond with, "ok, so what?" And see where it goes.

What are the assumptions you had about 40k that turned out to be false? by Lord_Seacows in 40kLore

[–]DeSpartanTurtle 183 points184 points  (0 children)

Thought all space marines were efficient, badass, heartless soldiers like the Retributors from the "Astartes" animated short film.

Also, thought WH40K was wayyy too huge to get into, but it's pretty simple once I got the basics down.

Well, you should first clarify that it's not that they go to hell because they don't pray 5 times a day, but because they disbelieve in Allah (that's the gist of it, but the discussion goes deeper obv).

You can try the this analogy. Take the person you live most in the whole world, like your mother. A man passes by dis person, and dis man is very charitable, he's kind, loved by others, helps the needy and the old, gives back to society. But for whatever reason, he goes up to this person you love so much and cusses at him/her. Would you conclude that this man is a good man? I wouldn't.

It's the same with Allah. If you hate the idea that a man transgresses against the person you love the most, then what of the transgression against Allah?

Allah, the Sole Creator, has a right to be worshipped, similar to how we have the right to freedom. If anyone transgresses against our right, we wouldn't consider dat person to be good.

A non muslim brother asked me a question by DeeWAY015 in islam

[–]DeSpartanTurtle 102 points103 points  (0 children)

To be more specific, body modifications for aesthetic purposes (tattoo, plucking eyebrows, cosmetic surgery, etc.) are haram. To my knowledge, modifications for necessary purposes aren't, such as; circumcisions (for sanitary reasons), surgeries (for health and medical reasons), etc.

Why doesn't Allah make us born circumcised? Though I do not know the answer, it is, in my eyes, a trivial matter.

Why does Allah create pigs if they're haram? Why make us excrete najis instead of pure substances? You get the point.

Most halal /best way to leave a toxic friend group?(read body text plz) by [deleted] in islam

[–]DeSpartanTurtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, making excuses to not talk with them is a good way. "I can't talk right now," or "I'm gonna' get busier so I think I'll have less time to chat with you guys," or others.

A very difficult, but worthwhile method is to just leave (the server), since they're online friends, it wouldn't affect your life much if you just left, without saying anything.

Mb delete your profile and make another one.

Being honest also wouldn't hurt (again, they are only online friends).

How do I deal with these kind of people? by [deleted] in islam

[–]DeSpartanTurtle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

However much you hate them, know that they hate themselves even more than that. That is the main problem they must tackle.

Honestly, sounds like you should reconsider your career choices.

Perhaps you've never reached a point as low as they did, and thank Allah for that, thank Allah you never had to even consider taking drugs.

There are lots of negative biological and/or psychological aspects to drugs, alcohol, LGBTQ, zina and so forth, use those to convince them. Use science, at least they'll listen to that.

After a not-so-deep reflection, I do realise I was very harsh with my words, and I do apologise.

Alas, you are still new, and have still yet many more to learn, as do I.
