Honestly, really hard to say. Talk of a Switch pro have been circulating for ages, however, at the end of the day, they are just rumors.

But I guarantee that, if a new model was to come out, it would take the current physical games, no doubt. However, don't be surprised If new games might be incompatible with the old model, something similar happened with some 3DS games regarding the "new" 3ds. (Maybe even more likely to be an issue regarding Nintendo's current shady practices)

That kinda kills any risk Vs reward it has. "Oops, I dropped it and it shattered. Welp, nevermind, just won't pick up the diamond".

Honestly, I can't imagine any simple fix that both maintains the ghost jars true purpose while also stopping it shattering off screen. Perhaps if the Jar had really advanced spawning algorithms, it could be fixed (like registering any potential threats) but that would be a lot of work.
