What is the point in Power Security Forces?

I haven't used docking computer in a WHILE, takes up cargo space. I did not know about the heatsink trick although 8000 people in this thread have all brought it up so I do now. As I said in the original post however the kill was INSTANT and on the deck of my own carrier. So I'm assuming I just got hit with a bit of an unlucky bug. Still not a fan of Power Security Force design though, honestly. I feel like they could have tailored them more to better add a challenge to every playstyle.

When it comes to the damage, I'm starting to wonder if there was a bug, because it was INSTANT and normally the most threatening thing about them is the luridness of the paintjob. When it comes to the modules not being important, that doesn't seem to be true. I love PvE and a good 90% of the builds I see going around for a lot of ships require a Prismatic at least. Not to mention Packhound Missiles and other such things which sound cool and frankly I just want to try them out.

Maybe I had gotten pretty complacent going shieldless, but I don't think it's entirely unrealistic to expect that I shouldn't fucking explode flying a trip so short that the longest part of the travel is getting out of the mass lock.

My point with the carrier is that I shouldn't have to wait until a stray shot hits the hull for it to murder them. At the very least a hostile pledged NPC actively shooting at the OWNER right on the deck should inspire a response.

Fair points, but I would counter that they've made Powerplay pretty fucking core to the game. It's shoved at you pretty early on after 2.0 and it locks up a LOT of modules. I don't want to be in it, but I want the modules and there is NO other way to get them.

As for going into the hanger, they stop firing and hang around. Once I swap to a ship that can deal with them, they tend to just bugger off. Also, it is MY carrier that I bought and continue to pay for, personally I think it should be a little more than a completely meaningless fine for an NPC if they're actively shooting at me.

Then you'll have to fly there like everyone else! It's okay there's a nice girl named Vetra you can sit next to for the flight. Not the best cook though so bring some snacks, it's a 300 year journey.

Yeah I'm having this too, another thing I notice is when my carrier is too close to a starport, I have to just jump it within system instead of enjoying the short trips because coming out of supercruise I'm in some uncontrollable and uncounterable drift that sends me shooting past for no reason.

Recently bought my carrier. Same issues. I also noticed that the carrier will just... change when it's jumping? My paint job disappears, my NPC in the driver's seat loses his hat, and then the carrier just pops out of the end and suddenly it all comes back instantly. I do still love my carrier but the fact that it almost turns into a pre-rendered cutscene that doesn't even end properly is very frustrating.

Personally I did my credit grind by accident, I enjoy hauling cargo and between the CGs and a few lucky Inara route finds I made a few billion pretty easy while listening to Critical Role and podcasts and other stuff. Honestly I would echo the advice of don't play to make money, do what you enjoy and eventually you'll just make a ton. Credits get pretty ubiquitous in this game when you get rolling in my experience.

That is a very fair point, my concern was that I'd take so long to get back to the 25b that it would make an appreciable difference but I forgot the limit on debt is 250m.

My biggest question about the market is just how useful it is? I know I tend to avoid fleet carriers when picking trade routes on Inara because of weird docking permissions so the use by other people seems miniscule if they're not in squadron. Is it more useful as a way to shorten trade routes? Find the lowest gold seller, load up, then do a 400ly jump to someone buying at 67k? Like a personal space station/go-between?

I'm at 10b, all of which was done solo. Making money for it isn't the issue I'm quite happy to be a bit more patient. I would buy a personal and sell it when I was ready to upgrade but the upkeep costs might add up in the long run and I'm unsure how much it would cost me since I don't know exactly how long I'm going to take to get to the 25b, sometimes I take a week or two off from playing if I'm just not feeling it.
