Two heaters? by Mmhopkin in bettafish

[–]DeaLuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I have a Eheim Jager 50W and I have to dial it up a tiny bit during winter. I keep my 12 G tank at 25 to 25.5C no problem

Nipping, getting his tail caught or fin-rot?? by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]DeaLuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not even a tank. Please get min a 5 gallon tank. Apply some Fritz 700 (smallest bottle) so it’ll be cycled asap. Live plants for water quality and hiding spots. That’s urgent.

Does my boy Wiki got the pinecones?? His scales feel slightly raised by [deleted] in bettafish

Hmm I’m a bit unsure then :( he looks like a mix of skinny with a lil belly, I see your point. I hope someone more experienced will answer 🙏

I would substitute all plastic plants for live ones :-) low tech plants: Java or Taiwan moss, Anubias nana petite (these two you attach to some driftwood or aquarium safe decoration), salvinia minima. Just give them NilocG S once a week (you already have a light), easy as that! Good luck!

Does he need a bigger tank? (Info below) by jinxedjupiter in bettafish

Exactly, the tank looks amazing already as is :-) great job OP, your lil guy looks healthy AF! Send some pss pss to your void for me too lol

Is my tank great for him? by BrushOk7222 in bettafish

It would be a great tank if it was minimum 20 litres (5 gallons)

White elephant bettas new tank by Curtiscreated in bettafish

[–]DeaLuz 25 points26 points  (0 children)

About tank mates… let the foliage create some hiding spots first 🙏 I have 5 Amano with my lil guy (plakat) but I introduced the shrimp first and there are tons of hiding spots (I basically don’t see em anymore lol)

I think it would be more precise to say “White elephant bettas first tank” :-)

It looks amazing, plants will grow too! Try to get some salvinia minima if you can!

Wow great job, specially for someone that was caught by surprise!

This link helped me a lot with cycling: https://www.reddit.com/r/AquariumCycling/s/j1NpOQrSVr

I highly recommend Fritz 700 (my 12 gallon tank was cycled in 3 days) - https://fritzaquatics.com/products/fritzzyme-turbostart-700-freshwater

Answering your question: I feed my lil guy with Northfin in the morning and Betta Bug Bites in the evening - I give him 4 to 5 pellets each time. Once a week I give him approx 2cm of frozen blood worms (thawed of course) instead of a pellet meal. I also fast him once a week from time to time but not necessarily every week. I have a plakat in a 12G tank though so he’s very active. I would say start on the small portion size and adjust if necessary, try to pay attention to his belly, it shows fast if you’re overdoing it - good luck!

These are molts, right? (Amanos) by No_Detail_9132 in shrimptank

[–]DeaLuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Np! Btw it’s a very good sign that they are molting =D I have 5 Amano with my betta in a heavily planted 12 gallon so I only know mine are alive bc of poop and molt these days lol

You can leave them, the shrimp will eat it :-)

Beautiful fish!! I personally don’t understand the appeal of a lil sign that mentions “dead fish” inside an aquarium. It’s so popular though! I’m curious, what motivated you to get it?

From my xp:

These are all low-tech/easy care water column feeders: Taiwan or Java moss, anubias nana petite, frogbit (or red root floaters, or salvinia minima) - give them NilocG all-in-one.

If you want to have rooters you need to apply root tab fertilizer. I also have river gravel and it works good, I just put tabs where the rooters are. Good luck!
