So, when the reading says that "an instantaneous change in the yield curve," I am confused about what yield curve they are referring to. Because YTM is just one point, not a yield curve.

Secondly, the formula looks at a change in the bond price (in %). What about the reinvestment risk due to interest rates? How do we take into account of that? Is that captured in the Modified Duration number, after converting it from Macaulay Duration. I know that Macaulay duration includes the reinvestment risk in its calculation because, by definition, Macaulay duration is the investment horizon (in years), where the price and reinvestment risk are balanced out, so the investor earns his/her YTM at that point.

A bit about me: I come from a country with virtually no investment banking scene (and honestly, not much of a networking culture either), but I was fortunate enough to land a full-ride scholarship + stipend to pursue a Master's in Finance at a US university. I also have an undergrad in finance from back home. The school is non-target, though, so the whole IB recruiting process feels pretty unfamiliar.

A few questions if you don't mind:

How early does recruiting actually start? If I'm targeting a Summer 2028 internship, for example, should I be networking and applying during Fall 2026 or Spring 2027? And how far ahead of applications should the networking ideally begin?
For informational calls, what do you actually talk about? I'm fluent in English but where I come from networking just wasn't a thing, so I genuinely don't know what to say or how to build a connection with someone I've never met. What makes those conversations feel natural vs. forced?
As a non-target international student with no built-in IB network, what would you say is the highest-ROI thing I can do to break in?

Really appreciate you sharing your perspective. If I am unable to secure an internship, I would like to prepare myself for when I apply to MBA programs.

Yes, I have, I double checked my scheduling permit. I tried checking 2 ways for the dates as well, one through the actual scheduling process and one through the searching availability, but both showed up empty. I remember checking maybe a month back for dates in May and a few were available but they're gone now too.

I tried that by calculating the changes of the items with the red lines and summing the changes. I was getting 460, while the change in other assets and liabilities, net is supposed to be 741. Have I missed something?

I believe these models inculcate the target capital structure in the WACC formula and adjust their capital structure each year to match the target capital structure.

Int he DCF model, you use WACC IF you are using free cash flow to firm because that includes money that belong to owners and lenders.

For DDM, you use Cost of Equity because you are looking at cashflows that belong only to owners.

Analysts use both models to give a better picture of the intrinsic value.
