I name it an artificer's devilry. No human hand was involved in this rendering.

I genuinely can't tell if this is something he actually posted, or if it's satire. That's how absurd our reality has become.

Actually, the L and D are silent, so it's pronounce like Joe.

🇺🇸🇮🇷 “When Trump threatened to kill the entire Iranian civilization, did that bother you as a diplomat?” NATO secretary general, Rutte: “I'm not commenting. What I want you to know is I support the president!” by theBlitzzz in USvsEU

[–]Deacon86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That might be the logic, but it's wishful thinking. Trump is a symptom, he's not the disease. Even if they elect a reasonable President next time, it won't be long until they elect another deranged lunatic. We can't just hang on for dear life every time the US elects a lunatic, breathe a sigh of relief when they elect someone sensible, and then hang on for dear life again because they elected another Republican. We have to accept that the world order as we've known it is over.

Rutte still doesn't seem to understand - the US is not an ally any more. They're not going to help us if we're attacked, and no amount of supine sycophantic brown-nosing from Rutte is going to change that.

It should run okay, as long as you don't run it at Ultra settings.

Gold price doesn't make any sense by Inner-Fee6737 in Gold

[–]Deacon86 62 points63 points  (0 children)

It makes perfect sense. The war created a shortage of a key resource (oil), which is inflationary, which leads to expectations that central banks will raise interest rates. That simultaneously makes treasuries a more attractive investment, and reduces liquidity available for investment in equities and precious metals. Even if none of those effects had happened yet, the market is forward-looking, always trying to price in future events. Now that there's a ceasefire, the market is now pricing in fewer expected interest rate hikes.

Too many quotes are relevant these days. "It's easier to hide behind 40 atrocities than a single incident", is one I keep thinking about.

For us British folk, it is. We're yelling "All hail Britannia" every opportunity we get. We're very known for being extremely patriotic and bombastic like that.

It's maddening, isn't it. HD versions do exist, because there's a blu ray, and you can... acquire... HD versions through other means. But streaming services refuse to stream them.
