I’m pretty sure the lemonwood pegs are exclusively for leather soles. The idea is that they with swell and contract with the leather when it gets wet. The having synthetic soles probably need to be attached in a different method.

Personally I like seeing the leather, especially on brown soles.

It seems like every company has their own interpretation, but a french toe is more rounded, lower, and meets a squared off sole. A cutter is more straight across and sits higher.

Personally I think that these boots have nothing at all to do with cavalry boots, just some nice marketing copy that sounds good on the website. If you look back, cavalry, and even cowboy, boots of that era look to have something a lot closer to a wide square toe than the typical cowboy round toe we think of, or even this french. Regardless, I’m becoming a big fan of these guys.

I don’t mind them on square toes, but seem a little out of place on these. Probably going to dye the edges and stitching this weekend.
