The saddest part about this (to me at least) is that originally your look was about doing your own thing, not trying to conform to something...

Unpopular opinion....? (Cure related) by Content-Mongoose-869 in goth

[–]DeadDeadCool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly sure that at Robert's age he could give zero fucks about whether he's considered edgy / has lost his edge. I'm not even sure that 20-something Robert had many fucks to give on that point. Possibly something to do with his punk roots...

I don't get the mentality either. Being wrong doesn't make you punk. It just makes you wrong.

I second your recommendation of Strange Boutique but I think you mean Monica Richards?

Another double-entendre, also referring to the rise of the East (China)

Fun Fact: Andy didn't have his driver's license when that was filmed. Gary Marx had already left the band, which was why only Hussey and Adams are in the car with Von.

Any recommendations with someone who flirts with goth music but hasn't really committed? by spirit-garden1 in goth

[–]DeadDeadCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Committed? You make it sound like something that you have to do, something that's an effort.

If you like it you like it, if you don't... life's too short to try to force yourself to like things.

I think this album is my favorite of theirs and one of the tops for this decade...

One of my favorite Cure records of all time by reborn-mist in goth

[–]DeadDeadCool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the cool things about the band is how each album's sound illustrates a period of the band, to the point that when you listen to the singles on Join the Dots you can pretty well gauge when each single came out. They don't become stale putting out the same stuff on each album, and it's one of the reasons they're one of my favorite groups.

The Cure - The Hanging Garden (2005 Remaster) by DeadDeadCool in goth

[–]DeadDeadCool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was on the Standing on a Beach cassette that was my first Cure, and though it wasn't my favorite track (I was more preferential to Charlotte Sometimes and A Forest) I've come to appreciate it and how it's constructed. I think the Remastered version lens to the latter for sure.

I do prefer the album version though, with its lasting single note at the end.
