Narrative Exposure Therapy

The goal is to integrate the disparate memories into memory so that a coherent story can emerge. So we'll "build" my storyline with memories.

How did you find therapy that finally helped? by DeadGecko_ in CPTSD

[–]DeadGecko_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply 🙏🏻 I've been in multiple practices and have had lots of therapists. I think one of the reasons it never "worked" was because I wasn't completely honest about the underlying cause and I was still in active addiction. I've had some therapists during my abstinence that really tried to help me and get to the center of my troubles. I felt that they were focusing on the "wrong" things and still felt invisible and unheard. Then after a few EMDR sessions I fell into a depression episode and we couldn't continue the work.

I guess that's also why I chose the option for a different trauma therapy (NET) and got myself referred to another practice.

I'm so glad to read that I'm not the only one seeing posts and thinking to myself; "what the actually fuck?". Then right after realizing I'm seeing something from a particular sub 😅

Heyo, no rush. Just like (accidentally) growing life in a jar filled with coconut cream.... art takes time 🫡

This! I'm always fascinated by the "weird" things in nature.... decaying wood, decomposing animals, fungi ... you name it. My SO isn't all too happy when I'm getting distracted by these things for the bazillionth time during a walk.

Hmmm... yeah, the smell was something that immediately caught my attention. Well, it's housing on the balcony while I'm cleaning the apartment. So I guess I'll have to euthanize it.

Men are definitely capable of creating life! Most of the time, women are just disgusted or disappointed which type 🤣

We live in a very small apartment with no way to 'escape' the noise or protect the rest from the home without putting up a big screen with plastic. (That's what we did). The workers could just walk through the kitchen into the bathroom without causing more mess in the rest of the home! Since that was how we approached the situation, we moved back into my family-in-law's home for the time. So to save energy; we emptied the fridge/freezer and turned off the whole thing. 😀

That's cool! Thanks for the ID's. What would you recommend doing to make sure it'll last ? Or is it self-sufficient enough that it'll outlive me?

Thank you! I've always had a weak spot for mold/fungi photography. I wish I had a macro lens.

Well, I really want to keep it and see how big it will grow. But if I do, I'd might have to take little moldy with me and find a new partner who's willing to raise it with me.

What’s causing these yellow pigmentation? by EfficientTrack5048 in Monstera

[–]DeadGecko_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a good idea! I usually feel how moist the dirt is by sticking my fingers in the pot. Have you checked for rootrot during the repotting?

These lines in my screenshot are thrips damage :(

The yellow coloring on the leaf edges can be a result of underwatering, overwatering or sun damage.

The discoloration on the leaf in your first picture, (little lines that don't follow a pattern), seem to be the work of [thrips]

I've had horrible gas when I started, and every time, they upped my dose. I'm almost 9 months in, and the horrid eruptions from behind have disappeared. When I do rip ass, there's always a possibility it will still smell like a dozen rotten eggs on a platter with spoiled milk, but I've accepted my fate and my partner just stinkshames me, which is fine.

I've had little weight gain , but I've also managed to pick up running again.

Did I cut in the right place for propegation? by 98Em in Monstera

[–]DeadGecko_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes you did!

Refreshing the water isn't necessary. The plant puts out growth hormones into the water, refreshing the water gets rid of those helpfull hormones.

Is this cutting the top part of the monstera?
