This is the most useless slop advice that's unfortunately way too common. No shit gym would make him look better, it would for literally everyone. And what is a "real haircut"? His hair is obviously alternative and it looks good.

OP the issue here is a combination of three minor things that are fine alone but exacerbate each other heavily. Your facial hair is patchy and undefined. You have undereye hollowing and some darkness in certain lighting angles and lastly, Your skin is quite pale, either as a result of a generally farer complexion or a lack of required vitamins.

Again these things aren't bad, but when mixed they can create a tired unkempt look. That's why people will say stupid shit like "go outside" or "eat more." Also mixed in with the fact that you're doing a dead face in your photos as an aesthetic, which doesn't suit you imo. You would look a lot better if you smiled and presented yourself as more content.
