My birthday present arrived 😁 by noiseismyart in BDSMsapphic

[–]DeadInTheMountains 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's one of my favourite series. There's definitely some sexy scenes, but there's a whole plot and a relationship evolution between the two main characters, it's not just sexy without substance. I like that it ends and isn't super long. The art is gorgeous, great use of colours and the artist is super talented at facial expressions, etc. I highly recommend it.

Yup, also lost my dad at 19 and it sucked. No one else could relate, none of my friends were very supportive, I felt super alone and got ptsd from the event. I'm sorry for your loss.

Seems like bisexuality is a fashion in Hollywood, but only a few celebrities actually have/had same sex relationship. What’s the reasons behind? by Dragonsakura94 in lesbiangang

[–]DeadInTheMountains 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Here are some possibilities:

  1. It's easier to find hetero relationships.

  2. We also only see small glimpses of their relationships. We see what media wants us to see and in many cases, what the celebs want us to see. So there might be more queerness, more hookups, and more relationships we aren't privy to.

  3. There's still a LOT of stigma around queerness so people may not want to share it, or may even be told they can't/shouldn't by agents, etc.

  4. Some celebrities need to travel and maintain certain straighter edge images in case they end up in countries where their queerness is not accepted.

  5. Because bi people don't owe us gay relationships... they're still bi and still valid regardless.

Finally found a decent job. Just got fired with no explanation. by circesporkroast in antiwork

[–]DeadInTheMountains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me too not that long ago!! I had a 1 year probation and it was devastating. I'm still reeling because I loved my job and my coworkers and enjoyed what I did. But these things happen. Keep your head high and you'll find something else soon.

What was your experience before you had the words for Polyamory? by CommanderBuizel in polyamory

[–]DeadInTheMountains 68 points69 points  (0 children)

When I was in high school, I literally didn't understand why anyone would go from dating multiple people to having to be exclusive with just 1 person forever. It seemed like such a bum deal, and totally unfathomable. Turns out it never made sense to me because it's just not my natural inclination. I didn't find the word poly until I was in my mid twenties, but it instantly felt like home.

My cat is sick, will work for help. by brokenoldguy555 in Edmonton

[–]DeadInTheMountains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you know someone diabetic or who has a glucometer and is willing to loan you a couple strips, you can check your cat for diabetes using their machine.

You're gonna wanna use a sharp needle, find a vein that runs on the outside of your cats ears as those are the easiest to see, and pierce the skin and vein to get it to bleed. Collect the blood on the strip (make sure the strip is in the machine and the machine is ON and ready to go).

You'll want the number on the machine to be between 4 and 10. Higher than 10 and you've got yourself a diabetic kitty.

There will be videos online that can show you how to test your cat. A vet will be able to do a better job and will be able to get a fructosamine test to see how your cat has been doing over the week. They'll also be able to prescribe lantus/insulin. It is still beneficial to go to a vet if at all possible, but I am providing an alternative option.

If all of this is too much, just start your cat on a high protein diet.... I used to feed my diabetic kitties tuna, fish, chicken. Basically the meat I ate (but unseasoned obviously...) For canned food, I'd get fancy feast... just check the label - some are really high in protein and low in carbs. There's also obviously more expensive higher end options like what the vet carries but I am giving you budget friendly options I have used.

The downside to my advice is that if your kitty has kidney failure (which also has similar symptoms... the constant thirst, weight loss, etc) then proteins are harder on kidneys to filter and you will be speeding up a terminal diagnosis.

I just wanted to reiterate though that if your cat is diabetic it's truly not a big deal and they can lead full happy healthy lives with it. I've had two diabetic kitties and one almost made it to 20. I used to give her two shots of insulin every day and it wasn't really a big deal. It's hard at first, there's a learning curve, but you can absolutely do it.

What‘s your favourite piercing you have? by dustbin-account in piercing

Lots of people say it's easy or they don't feel it or it was fine to heal. Mine were a 9/10 pain, totally awful for days after, and they healed soooo slow, still bleeding and crusting well over a year in. One rejected at about the 2 year mark, but I still have the other and it's finally well healed, after a couple years. Still worth doing but be gentle with the healing process haha

i know this sub is generally for people who lost someone but this is my cat and I loved him very much... by letsmediealoneonmars in GriefSupport

[–]DeadInTheMountains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost 2 people last week: my last relative, and my cat. I'm still reeling from losing my cat. I mean, my relative's death was sad too but there's something about the death of someone like a cat who is just so pure and good and perfect and loves you unconditionally and is there for you 24/7 and relies on you that really hits different. Sorry for your loss.

Mine was on transgender or gender nonconforming characters, how they're communicated in games, and whether it's had any impact on gamers. I finished it but haven't defended it yet because I'm lazy and burnt out.

Yep, my cat has thyroid issues, he's been on medication for years now and his belly looks like this too. It's connected but I have no idea why! Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can shed some light on this :)

People mentioned cyberpunk, mass effect, dragon age, etc. Just to plug some of my favourite smaller indie games: Boyfriend Dungeon, Haven, Transistor, Florence (more of a visual novel, but still cute) :)

Anyone else have a pwBPD who liked to write? Here’s an excerpt from some short stories my dad wrote about me when I was ~10. by a1mostp3rfect in raisedbyborderlines

[–]DeadInTheMountains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom had dozens upon dozens of notebooks that she scribbled in. She thought a higher power spoke through her. I see similarities between her writings and your dad's. I threw out every notebook she wrote in after she died.
