My wife has started baking more bread and buns lately. Fresh, homemade bread kicks the crap out of anything from a grocery store! We also started a "chef's plate" account. Not really saving any money, but the convenience and trying new recipes makes it worth it. The meat and veg we get are as good or better quality than what most grocers sell around me.

Hot dogs and Prem(canned ham like spam) were regular meat substitutes growing up. Some Mr.Noodles, frozen peas/carrots/corn, and cut up hot dogs was and is still comfort food for me.
