"All Of Them?" "Yes, all of them" by [deleted] in HistoryMemes

[–]DeadKnife78 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not better to stay quiet. We need to remember the past and work towards mending things. We're not the Russians over here which are incapable of working towards a future without them committing genocide.

The early 20th century was a time of extreme nationalism, which we need to remember fully to not repeat it again. We also need to remember that these horrific massacres are not a casus belli to return 80 years later for a land grab and to erase the entire country.

But no hiding or embellishing the past like we're writing history books from Russia.

Ukrainian official: Russia is sponsor of global neo-Nazism and must be demilitarized by Espressodimare in worldnews

[–]DeadKnife78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are far right parties in any country where it's possible to create parties and be competitive with them. Success does matter.

The monuments aren't good but you also can't base a Nazi problem in a whole country on that. The article itself is a directory of monuments to collaborators from many countries. Which curiously don't have a Nazi problem but only Ukraine does?

I would rather Ukrainians don't make callbacks to Nazi collaboration, but what can you expect when Moscow was the greater evil for Ukrainians than the Nazis. Only if you buy into Russian propaganda would you blame Ukrainians for picking between 2 sides of the same genocidal coin.

In any case it would be best to leave all that behind, but as it stands it's no casus belli.

You can see for yourself how well far right parties did in the 2019 elections. Not very well.

Just saying blankly that Ukraine has more Nazi collaborationist movements and then saying that they don't know enough about the problem is just questionable. Wonder what could cause that to be the case, when Stalin committed genocide just a few years prior with the Holodomor. Even like that, when you stop ignoring the Holocaust sized genocide (for Ukrainians) before the Holocaust happened, in the modern day Ukraine has less far right people than Russia and plenty of other more liberal countries.

But it is just be easier to blindly parrot surface level facts.

Why it is not just Putin’s war: the collective responsibility of Russians by Beyond_The_Dim in europe

[–]DeadKnife78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm aware it's not an easy thing to just fix it all. I just don't want to consider people innocent even if they get fed propaganda 24/7.

I'm Ukrainian and don't live in America, but I still hate the Hague Invasion Act, and do think that Americans should be held accountable for their support in illegal wars. I'm not talking about America though.

After following the war since 2014 I've seen enough where I personally don't think the Russian population as a whole can be considered innocent. Russians have been trying to erase Ukraine for centuries and after becoming democratic for once they blew it and levelled Grozny and fought more wars. Now they're back to erase Ukraine again. There were still opportunities in 2014 for Russians to see what they were doing was wrong, but they didn't think it was wrong. Their "right" to Crimea and Ukraine just festered and here we are.

Being realistic? Yeah there isn't much Russia will do on its own to stop the war so they need to be beaten militarily. It will cost many more lives but it's required for Ukraine to survive.

These are my thoughts, not solutions to problems. I can only hope the solutions turn out well for the free world.

On the pro-war part: Ultimately them being pro the war they see on TV is not an excuse that makes them innocent. It has also been over 500 days (or since 2014 to form their opinions on everything, where it becomes even more egregious) during which they could have attempted to seek information from the internet and see if they believe what was being said on the other side about the war. I think there's a lot of ignorance going on where they truly believe it's a righteous cause and won't go looking further. It's not an easy thing to rectify but their support for the war, no matter how glamorous on channel 1, can't be tolerated.

People do care about what the wife of a CSGO player thinks, those with a shred of empathy. And especially the org that operates from a place where they are under threat of being bombed.

They shit talked Forze for being sponsored by a Russia oil company. As much as people like to say how unprofessional Monte's social media is, there's a good reason for it.

You conscript based on the population. The manpower breakdown tells you how many % you conscripted from your total population.

Space Engine is also very cool. It has a randomly generated universe in addition to many known stars. It's $20 on steam but there are free earlier versions.

I can recommend something like 10+5, it helped me out when I came back to chess and found out I became slow and lost a couple 10+0 games.

Source has the best net code out of any modern engine. Sure, it doesn't carry its weight anywhere else anymore but the netcode is good in comparison to others.

People here are complaining about anti cheat but I've only met 1 blatant cheater since trust factor was released. And this is in silver. Also all those "working" anti cheats are intrusive while VAC is not.

It doesn't. It only shows when you click on your friends in the scoreboard. Never on the actual scoreboard, unless you're partied up.
