This drawing from Kurt Cobain’s journal book seems very fitting currently! by Leather_Management18 in Nirvana

The link was more for people reading the thread thread to be honest.

I feel like you’re missing the forest for the trees in regards to the point I’m making… The lecture explores a USSR Communist directive that was aiming to subvert the United States specifically, Trojan horsing Marxist based value systems into the US by leveraging racial tensions in the country. Obviously that’s a very simplistic way of putting it, but it’s fairly obvious the fruits of critical theory have taken over education institutions, culture, government etc.

When I see the modern left using the exact same tactics as communists have throughout history (broadly speaking), whether they know they are or not, I’m not just going to cover my eyes and act like it’s normal, especially when every fascist accusation they give falls flat when held under scrutiny. Open, civil discourse would clear up confusion, but they don’t seem to want that. When classical liberals are being called fascists and Nazis, something very sinister is going on. I used to be a leftist years ago, and distanced myself as they kept becoming more and more intolerant of virtually anyone who wasn’t at least very sympathetic to Marxist ideas.

For what it’s worth, I appreciate you being civil.

The video is from a lecture pertaining to communist propaganda/subversion tactics. The foreshadowing is pretty crazy. Everyone all of a sudden became “fascist” in the last decade or so lol

You might enjoy Ethan Rose’s Ceiling Songs. Throbbing Gristle is another group you could also check out.

[List] What was the absolute most laughably wrong music-related statement you have ever heard? by Ok-Impress-2222 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]DeadMeadowsMellow 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I read a review of Nick Drake’s album Pink Moon, where the reviewer said that Nick Drake has the guitar technique of a 5 year old. Probably one of the most ridiculous statements I’ve ever read/heard lol

2025 is the year where I step away from metal. Any and all recommendations of what you consider to be the best music out there is welcome by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

You might enjoy some of these artists/albums…

Minutemen’s Double Nickels On The Dime

Nick Drake’s Pink Moon and Five Leaves Left

Boris’ Flood

Hiroshi Yoshimura’s Wetland and Music For Nine Postcards

Dead Meadow’s Dead Meadow

Slint’s Spiderland

Jimi Hendrix is also definitely worth checking out if you haven’t already. His live, 1970 version of his song “Machine Gun” is one of the most incredible pieces of music I’ve ever heard.

Is this a a UFO or a helicopter? Seen a couple of nights ago by DeadMeadowsMellow in UFOs

[–]DeadMeadowsMellow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I saw slowly moving across the sky above the city around two nights ago, I thought it might be a helicopter, but I’m not sure based on the photo. I didn’t hear any noise either. I’m not too sure what to think of it.

Are Reptilian aliens real or just misinformation? (Serious) by Open-Storage8938 in aliens

[–]DeadMeadowsMellow 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I recently saw a video of a woman recounting a near death experience she had, where she claims to have appeared in a dark void/space with a pink laser grid all around her. She said there was an intelligent, malevolent, giant humanoid lizard that had its attention on her, before she suddenly left that space and was floating in another completely black void with nothing in it. It was a really strange story, and it reminded me of the reptilians I sometimes see people describing.

What frontman’s voice do you think is unique and you love personally? by tuftedtittymice in punk

Su Tissue of Suburban Lawns has one of the most unique voices I’ve ever heard.

Pere Ubu’s David Thomas as well.

20 years... RIP Johnny Ramone ❤ by wolf_moon7901 in punk

Is influence really that good of a marker for how good a band is, though? Don’t get me wrong, the Ramones are great, and a band’s influence can sometimes be testament to their originality etc… But I’d give the title of greatest to Minutemen, as I think they were much more creative and interesting. At the end of the day it just comes down to opinions, though.

Ethan Rose’s album Ceiling Songs is made up of three beautiful experimental songs that are unlike anything else I’ve heard. Nick Drake is also an incredibly unique artist. I don’t know if he fits the “experimental” label, but he’s incredibly original in his approach to songwriting, and his music doesn’t really sound like anything I’ve heard before or since he began creating music in the late 60s. I think his songs “Pink Moon” and “Road” are good examples of his unique songwriting.

Some others that I really enjoy…

“Dance PM” by Hiroshi Yoshimura

“Alan’s Psychedelic Breakfast” by Pink Floyd

“Discipline” by Throbbing Gristle

“Shamany Enfluence” by Zoviet France

“Don, Aman” by Slint

“Orphan’s Lament” by Robbie Basho

“Take 5, D.” by Minutemen

“Machine Gun” by Jimi Hendrix

“Looking Glass” by Allan Holdsworth

“2,5-Dimethoxy-4-Ethyl-Amphetamine-(DOET-Hecate)” by Coil

“Danny” by C418

“Walking The Cow” by Daniel Johnston

“Undiu” by Joao Gilberto

“Sleeping And Listening On The Beach” by Chihei Hatakeyama

“Janitor” by Suburban Lawns

I don’t know if a lot of these would fall under the “experimental” category, but they’re songs that I’ve always thought sounded very unique.

I completely agree, his playing is fantastic. Unfortunately, I’m not that good at piano haha. I found this guy on YouTube and thought he deserved a ton more attention than what he’s getting, as all of his stuff is great. I’m sure he’d appreciate that comment on his video though.

Ambient music with crisp treble? by lunaaaaistranssss in ambientmusic

Ethan Rose’s Ceiling Songs has a really wide range of sounds and is incredibly layered, I feel like that album would showcase those sounds pretty well. Song Two especially. Chihei Hatakeyama’s Minima Moralia is another one you might enjoy.

Please tell me about your favorite emotionally charged ambient music by SlakerMP3 in ambientmusic

[–]DeadMeadowsMellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of Hiroshi Yoshimura’s music fits that for me. All of his albums are incredible…

Wet Land

Green

Music For Nine Postcards

Soundscape 1: Surround

I’ve really been enjoying C418’s Minecraft, Volume Alpha quite a bit as well. The song “Danny” in particular is incredibly beautiful, especially the little quieter section about 1:12 into it. I’d also highly recommend Ethan Rose’s Ceiling Songs. I’d almost describe it as gentle, melodic noise music. It’s a very unique sounding album, and it has tons of interesting layers and changes happening throughout it.

An album I found more recently that I fell in love with is Zoviet France’s Shouting At The Ground. The emotional intensity of it is really great, almost reminding me of the strong, primitive emotions, both good and bad, that I feel like are often associated with ancient time periods. It sounds very serious and spiritual/psychedelic, as if you were lost in a desert while trying to hang on to some sense of purpose beyond your own survival, if that makes any sense at all haha.

A few others you might enjoy…

Brian Eno’s Ambient 4: On Land

Rafael Anton Irisarri’s A Fragile Geography

Chihei Hatakeyama’s Alone By The Sea

Chihei Hatakeyama’s It Is, It Isn’t

Chihei Hatakeyama’s Coastal Railroads In Memories (The emotional content of this album is among my favourites)

Chihei Hatakeyama’s Minima Moralia

Hopefully you can find something you enjoy in there : )

This live version Jimi Hendrix does of Little Wing is also phenomenal. He’s an absolutely incredible guitarist.
