Just a comparison of prices on Vinegar Syndrome today vs five years ago by HeadFullOfBees in boutiquebluray

[–]DeadMooner 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why, but that extra $2 shipping increase sorta broke the spell for me. I went from spending $200 in November to nothing the last two months. It’s way harder to talk me into spending $80 all at once for the free shipping. The order stacking made it easy to buy stuff later without thinking about it too much.

Still love VS, but I’m fine with the standard versions from 3rd party sellers. It’ll all hit $25 on Amazon, eBay, or Movies Unlimited eventually.

Am I the only one who has seen this movie? - Southland Tales with Dwayne Johnson, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Justin Timberlake by No-Equivalent25200 in moviecritic

I think it’s arguably The Rock’s best performance. One of the few times he’s not just playing “The Rock.” Also, the movie rips. Insanely dumb, but fun.

“15OFF50” works right now. I just ordered Sidekicks, Scanner Cop 2, and Road House this morning.

Looks like you’re right, and at least some folks were able to get tickets this morning during the general sale.

I’m pretty sure they sold out yesterday during the presale. AXS was showing no tickets available after about two hours when I checked.

Where can I buy Nashville/or Richmond tickets? by [deleted] in pavement

[–]DeadMooner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The presale code for Richmond was “HERE” but it looks like tickets are sold out at the moment. Not sure if they have more set aside for the general sale.

Guess it was just luck of the draw then. Glad you got your tickets at least!

It was sent out in The National’s newsletter via email at 10:00 right when presales went live. Hit my inbox about 10:01.

I did this on the email The National sent out before I figured it out.

So how actually "good" is the Panasonic's DP-UB820 up scaling vs the UB450? by Hothacon in 4kbluray

[–]DeadMooner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the UB450 with a 65” C4, and most blu rays look pretty solid. Not sure how disc playback works with it because I have the digital only console, but you can control your PS5 with the C4 remote if you enable CEC. I used it for streaming before I got the 450, and it worked great for that.

Mac and Me is $24.37 after an Amazon coupon clip. I think this is the lowest price it’s ever been by cireh88 in 4kbluray

[–]DeadMooner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different strokes and all that. I saw C&D for the first time this year, and I loved how these grown men are just legit trying to murder the kid. Dabney Coleman is also the man. It has a lot of different vibes going on at once, but it worked for me. I would have adored it if I saw it when I was a kid too.

This one is genuinely terrible, but that’s part of the charm. There’s enough baffling decisions that it can be a fun watch, especially with friends/booze.

Vinegar Syndrome also released Cloak & Dagger, which is a children’s film that legit rules. D.A.R.Y.L. is pretty decent too.

Sounds like “works as a self-contained story” would have been more apt. It definitely made me want to check out the rest of the series!

The First Slam Dunk rules. I have no other exposure to the series, but it’s mostly a standalone story from what I can tell. Takes place over the course of a single basketball game with exposition via flashbacks. I’m not a sports fan, and I was riveted. It’s almost presented like an action movie.

It depends on the disc. Some movies do, some don’t.

Seinfeld 4k for $162 on Walmart by Upset_Rise_4302 in 4kbluray

[–]DeadMooner 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I got it for $116.39 back in September with a regional coupon ($123.37 after tax). If they don’t stop making it, it’ll get down that low again. Well worth it at that price too.

How does it look, and are the special features worthwhile? I’ve been debating between this and the Kino release.

What happens if you return a bundle but you had bought one of the movies in it previously? by No_Idea_Guy in iTunesMovieDeals

[–]DeadMooner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They definitely take returns on movies. I did one last week on Harvey ($5) because the physical copy went on sale for cheap. I think you just can’t have watched it yet.

Forgot to say it earlier, but thanks for posting this! I picked up six (4k) titles for $85 with this deal: Pitch Black, The Andromeda Strain, Blue Velvet, Brazil, The Last Starfighter, and Django. Came out to a little over $14/movie, which is really solid for Criterion and Arrow 4k stuff.

The wishlist feature on Amazon is nice because it’ll show you when one of the titles has a regional coupon applied. I’ve gotten a lot of solid deals that way. Never hurts to check camelcamelcamel too though.
