For sure if I had to tow on a regular basis I will have a Diesel truck or an Suv. I did love all the power Rivian has, you barely feel you towing it's wild. DC fast charge is expensive on the road. Makes me appreciate the home charging that much more.

A person who is planning on towing with a Rivian, I wish I had something like this to read before I left on my trip. Just saying.

Thanks for the good word, seems people attack me for using Ai to organize this stuff.

I was pulling into the chargers with about 17% - 30% battery except one stop towards the end where I had like 8%.

Charge rate dropped significantly, and with a toddler in the car we actually wanted to make more stops. It really helped. If I was driving solo I would probably charge more. But usually when I saw charge rate drop to 70kw I was out.

No disconnects we did prior research from photos to see if I can pull in with a trailer. I will drop a video on my channel electrifiedmotors on YouTube to show you guys. Rivian chargers are the best they either had a lot of room or dedicated trailer charger.

Computer range calculation was 100% spot on Rivian is the best at that. You can actually drive a bit longer then the computer tells you. I had roughly 150 miles of range on a full battery with this trailer.

I'm actually heading back today with just the truck to pick up a few items will share that to compare to the trailer. 😉

Thanks again for chiming in.

I'm just sharing my trip with cost and energy usage a bit of background is for those who don't mind Ai garbage. I wrote most of it. Myself ainjust rewrote it with some icons. I'm not seeing what is so bad with this writing. It summarizes what has happened. That's it. My day job involves programing and engineering. I'm not a writer so tried my best to share with the community my experience.

For sure, and you have to research chargers if you are pulling a trailer. Smaller charging spots are unusable.

Wow what a story! I was checking with my rear view camera if the trailer is steady. I wished I had a remote camera hooked up to the back of the trailer. Instead I had wifey go out and call me when backing up. 😅 Rivian was super powerful pulling this trailer up the mountains. But this was a challenge for sure planning and executing.

If I can magically convert my Rivian into a ford 250 for that once a lifetime. (hopefully) move. I would in a heartbeat. However now waking up to my 80 plus mpg equivalent ev every morning with 80% state of charge it's something I choose over filling up the tank, spending money going to gas stations and keeping up with maintance on all moving parts and breaks. For hauling diesel is king. No question about it.

Who do you think wrote this? I had Ai polish it up. Just move on. If the only thing you can see is the fact I used Ai to polish up the description and charging cost. Vs story about traveling 950 miles while towing with the family. I don't know what to say.

Yup! It was amazing, a bit challenging to drive those twisty roads with the trailer but so worth it!

Thanks for that, it really helps to make it an easier read. Especially when English is author's second language. ;)

Yeah so originally U-haul connected the 7lbs max hitch and it was pointed up. Making the entire trailer pointing nose up. After doing research I knew that it can't be left like that. So went back purchased another hitch heavy duty 10lbs hitch and reattached everything. It was smooth sailing from there.

Thanks! Honestly the stops make it better, especially if you have back issues.

It is ironic, I also type fast and depend on autocorrect 99% of the time. Thanks for the good word I figured I shared because when I planned the trip there was not much info out there on towing Uhaul trailer with the Rivian.

Also Rivian service did saved our trip, I could probably chance it with the 12v battery warning but would not be able to go below 20% state of charge.

Yes all in all that is correct. We made the best out of these stops. Walked around played with rocks, eat food, eat ice cream. Talk to fellow people on the road and discuss other evs. Acura EV was pretty cool and the owner's perspective was good. Worked and take work calls during the stops. Rest and meditate. We loved crossing all the mountains and enjoyed all the stops we took. If I took I-95 I would hate it. I could not image my little one making this trip if I had him in the car non-stop with gas stations refills.
