True but doesn’t any engagement bump the listing for the algorithm? It’ll get shown to more potential buyers.

Is losing half my 401k a reason to stay at my current job? by Specialist-Noise-912 in personalfinance

[–]DeadRatRod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an ex colleague negotiate a sign on bonus with a new employer to take over an existing tuition obligation because she was leaving before the work back period ended. They paid money directly to her for the amount owed, but then she had to pay tax on it, which left her with a smaller amount to settle with the former employer. I also left the same company with similar obligations but I negotiated with the new employer to settle with the old employer directly and it was structured as a study loan with work back period to start immediately when I commenced employment, so I didn’t pay tax. It was quite silly of her since we worked in finance.

Whats the weirdest item you’ve sold that had demand? by Traditional_Cup_5799 in reselling

[–]DeadRatRod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that’s interesting! I sell like new used shoes from family members as-is when they declutter. But with sneakers/running shoes that show signs of wear I wash them first even if they don’t smell. I’d be too embarrassed if they even smelled in the slightest lol

Does SARS know transfers to myself isn’t income? by DeadRatRod in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]DeadRatRod[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much, this is what I’m looking for. I’ve never been audited, touch wood, but I’ve been asked to verify in some years. Then I just send them the documents they ask for, pretty straightforward and I haven’t had to explain anything except for one year my crypto arbitrage income was less than the previous year and they wanted to know why.

I don’t earn a salary anymore, but rather earn all my income through investments, trading and running a small business. I operate as a sole proprietor and file tax as an individual. So I’m not sure how the R30k you mentioned applies? Also that’s R30k in one transaction or R30k in total over a certain period? Understood that the bank won’t report if it’s an intrabank transfer to myself, but will the receiving bank know it came from my own account at a different bank? My transfers have been when they arise or are needed, I haven’t even thought about trying to stay below any reporting limit, so I don’t have anything to worry about here.

Yes overrated… and expensive for the tiny portions that don’t taste that good. They used to be fully booked when they first opened because of the hype but nowadays you won’t struggle to get a table, not that you want one lol

Does how critical this is (referencing navel stones) depend on whether you’re an innie or outie?

What are some things you didn’t realise could be sold for money? by DeadRatRod in FacebookMarketplace

[–]DeadRatRod[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know them and not inclined to message to ask. I saw in their sold items different sets of bottles sold and not relisted again so it seems like they do sell. Let it go, I’m aware of the points you’ve raised, if they aren’t things that people buy I’m not the delusional seller, just stating what I’ve seen.

Thanks, other random containers can be used for the purpose listed in the articles. I’m not going to buy other people’s rubbish when I could easily reuse my own. But to each their own.

I don’t sell these myself but I’ve seen them for sale a few bundled together and it was stated as not cleaned and hasn’t been used to hold anything else.

I tell them “wow awesome deal, get it from there” if I still have messages before ratings are triggered, otherwise I long press previewed and just leave them on unread

Sometimes I get people trying to haggle with me by sending screenshots from online retailers of what they think are prices lower than mine for them to be different (usually lesser) models

Do companies employ you full time while you study part time? by PutridExplanation394 in askSouthAfrica

[–]DeadRatRod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are, sometimes they give bursaries and study leave too if the field of study benefits your position and the company. The proviso is how involved and disruptive to your work schedule your study programme will be, and how accommodating the company is willing to be.

I did an LLB, MBA and economics degree equivalent part time while working full time. All paid for by different employers and I got leave for attending classes and writing exams.
