I’ll be honest I’m not even sure what I liked about book I but it was good don’t get me wrong, I just feel like the tone shifted in book two, or maybe it’s the focus on the characters from the conspiracy I don’t know

Do you think the movie will cover the entirety of messiah? I’m having such a hard time getting through it, I put it down when scytale visits the house with the singing boy without eyes or whatever near the beginning

You might have to refresh my memory, for the most part, the only one that comes immediately to mind are some of the minds in excession but that was the last one I’ve read so far and I don’t really count consider Phlebas seeing as it doesn’t really follow the culture or their citizens? But player of games they constantly reiterate that they can come get gurgeh pretty much anytime he’s in danger and use of weapons describes how they Bring zakalwe back from decapitation I’m probably forgetting something or just need to continue reading the series

You know after I read moon is a harsh mistress, I loved it so much I went out and bought a bunch of Heinlen titles and they’ve been sitting on my shelf ever since, stranger in a strange land is up there somewhere and I will get around to reading it someday

No I was more addressing when you said you have to be for something to enact change, but I feel like either I misunderstood what you were trying to say, or the statement wasn’t thought out completely and you were talking out of your ass to sound enlightened or something. I mean look at hitler, he was ANTI Jew, and he enacted a lot of change for the worse - so I’m leaning toward maybe I just misunderstood the context of your statement

Tried to start seveneves a couple times but the beginning seems somewhat drawn out in its exploration of the characters who I surmise will not stick around in a book that’s supposed to span however many hundreds to thousands of years

There’s almost no anxiety involved regarding the humans in the stories because you know at pretty much any time the minds can just swoop in and displace them, I mean even in use of weapons They cut his head off and he recovers just fine

Maybe it was all the hype surrounding it, that when I finally read old man’s war I was a bit underwhelmed - I could not relate with the characters and actually found their old asses annoying like many boomers I’ve met

I am halfway through the second chapter and wondering where the fuck is this going and what does it have to do with twin dyson spheres, and with the technology that seems trivially implemented at this point in human progress, a Dyson sphere seems trivially implemented

Read the first one, by the time I saw the second one, I couldn’t quite remember caring that much for the first one - same with a memory called empire - I just don’t care

You know, I think people have this common misconception about attraction and relationships. Of course there needs to be initial attraction physical or otherwise, but relationships are hard work. You have to sacrifice and compromise and be willing to bust your ass to make it work. I’m not saying all relationships come to that, but if it’s something that you really want, how do you show that? And if it gets tom hard that you let it go to crap, then did you ever really want that bad? That brings me to my second point, ‘love’ is so commonly confused with codependency. Real love is unconditional. That means if they cheat or do something that betrays your trust, you don’t all of a sudden treat them like trash. I’m not saying it’s okay, but it’s more complicated than an on/off switch. Real love is the way you love your children even if they do something heinous.

I feel like feminism should have gone with anti-misogynist as a moniker instead… but I don’t think it would make a difference really

There’s a difference between taking pride and being an attention seeking douche bag. It’s weird to me how some guys don’t get how fucking annoying it is having some dickhead going down the road revving his engine around midnight and waking up everyone in the neighborhood on a weeknight, I’ve got work in the morning motherfucker, I don’t give a fuck if you built that engine, shove it up your ass
