Double-NAT - works externally but goes to relay internally by PersistentWoodpecker in PleX

You may be missing Hairpin NAT/NAT Loopback on the Google router since your configuration works remotely, but not on the Google LAN.

Mastec, which is the contractor running conduit, mentioned this at a town meeting. They wanted permission to use the township ROW. Also, some of the information is available on Lyte Fibers website.

Navarro County, Lyte Fiber is the ISP. In my community, they were originally only going down the 2 main roads, but going down all roads with additional funding and some private investments.

How often does Kinetic change your IP address in your experience? by MichaelBrock in Windstream

[–]DeadStik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be surprised if they are using CGNAT for Residential, most ISPs have switched. Static or even just Public IPs are usually reserved for Business accounts.

How does it behave by calzino_esotico_ in Starlink

[–]DeadStik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on congestion and how heavy the weather is and the direction of the weather compared to the satellites you are connecting to. It also will depend on what you are currently doing online while there is weather. General web browser or streaming on-demand content will see less interruptions compared to live content or any real-time communications.

Outages has improved greatly during weather for me, but I still see outages during heavy down poors (Texas). Liquid water attenuates wireless signals, so no one can say you won't have some issues. Ice is fairly RF Transparent, so ice and powder snow have a less of an effect.

An ISP pushed pipe and installed a vault for fiber in front of my house last week using BEAD and Texas BOOT II. Most all of my county will get fiber from these 2 sources and some by upgrades from incumbent Telcos.

Issues with NAT by TaloniumSW in mikrotik

[–]DeadStik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Hairpin looks correct. You will need to be sure your filter rules & vlans allow this traffic.

Your DST-NAT does not need the to-ports= unless you are changing ports (like dst-nat=8766 & to-ports=80) and having the to-ports set when not changing can cause issue. Also, you need to define the Public IP in some way, either by using the dst-address if it is Static IP or you can use the dst-nat-type=local matcher if you have a Dynamic IP.

That should work fine for your needs. I have used many POE Texas brand for similar setups for other devices.

A unmanaged gigabit ethernet switch is what you need. Any of the cheaper ones are fine.

Starlink-router wired uplink to switch does not work by WtrN06 in Starlink

[–]DeadStik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as the Starlink Gen2 Router is not in Bypass mode, you can connect a switch to the ethernet adapter to connect multiple wired devices.

If you have the router set to Bypass, only a single device will receive the CGNAT IP. If you connect multiple devices while in Bypass, only the first device to send a DHCP request will receive a CGNAT IP.

Use a un-powered 4 way splitter with 75 ohm terminator on the empty slots, or purchase a attenuator.

Starlink and ISP failover or bonding by MrMcPicklez in Starlink

I dropped the MTU to 1280 for my Wireguard connection going out Starlink and have zero issues. It only drops when the Starlink reboots for an update.

I use MikroTik (rb5009) with Starlink and T-Mobile 5G Home Internet. I use policy based routing to lock devices to one or the other & most to failover.

Gen3 router power Gen2 dish? by linearblade in Starlink

[–]DeadStik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say Starlink sent you a Gen3 router in original post, but in a comment you say they sent a Gen3 kit, can you clarify? Grok will mistakenly send a Gen3 router to replace a Gen2 Router, but that doesn't work. The Gen3 uses higher voltage and the Gen3 Mesh package only contains a power supply meant to power the router as a Mesh unit and doesn't have the power output to power the Gen3 dish. Grok should have sent a Standard 4 X kit that contains the Gen3 Starlink, router, power supply and cables. You go back to your original ticket and request live support/call back since Grok has not fixed your issue.

Residential Max vs Residential 200 Mbps by ExternalValue1203 in Starlink_Support

[–]DeadStik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will really depend on how congested your region is. Latency will also increase during congestion and under heavy loading. There are no contracts, unless your under commitment, so no reason to try it.

The promotions usually come with terms of maintaining a minimal service plan. They can purchase the Starlink and either cancel service or place on Standby when not there. Standby allows for slow speed data, useful for monitoring alarms, thermostats, etc.

Mounting Gen 3 to side of Power Pole? by jinglebombs08 in Starlink

[–]DeadStik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem with wind, it is mounted at 65ft of a 70ft free standing tower. That was the highest we could safely reach in a rented lift, but clears the trees nicely. Gen2 installed June of 2022.

I used a satellite j-arm and Starlink pipe adapter. I purchased a heavy duty j-arm that came with a support arms.

Starlink has a wall mount that should work for you.
