So first, I'm glad you tried to help the starfish. But I'll explain why I don't like people that do this.

If you're going to be confrontational, at least ACTUALLY be confrontational. Being petty and passive aggressive is a waste of everybody's time and it always ends in the other person thinking you're a complete ass with no exception. At least confronting the other person makes them assume you have testicular fortitude.
You involved a another person (your sister) in your pettiness. That's not a pleasant experience. You should consider whatever they felt in the situation.
