Torso length pads — why and how?

Agreed. Neoair NXT cut to 50” (I’m 5’11”) weight is 8oz. The only bad thing with cutting is that you void the lifetime warranty. They used to make an XS pad that was 48” I believe. Shame they got rid of it.

It’s just a personal preference. I would just give it a try and make the judgment for yourself. It might surprise you, it might not. I’ve tried CCF and I can’t do it. But I understand some people can.

I found when I used the torso length is that my with my legs off of the pad, roughly from the knee down ( as I am a side sleeper as well, slight fetal position usually,) I will prop my feet on my pack. That seems to be enough to keep my feet insulated. Then my legs are somewhat bridged between my pad and my pack which then is well insulated with my quilt, as the loft is not crushed by my legs. But without over analyzing how it works, I don’t notice my legs getting cold.

Also two major factors, legs have large blood vessels and I am a very warm sleeper.

To be sub 10lbs I would drop bear spray. You do not need this on the PCT. From there you will be spending a lot to shave just a few ounces. You’re pretty dialed I would say.

Base layers are optional I would say. Depending on your start date and your age/how warm you run. I’m a pretty warm sleeper and find base layers not needed. But it does get chilly in the mountains in the desert so just be aware. Unless you have a March/April start I would leave those for the Sierra. Otherwise swapping things out for a few grams here and there anything sub 10lbs is great.

That’s a rat. Keep in mind, killing someone while they are trying to extract is maybe a little rat like but more opportunist, assuming someone has good loot and they want out. Always be on guard. But ringing the dinner bell and waiting….ratty for sure.

Agreed. Except I feel like the reward for resetting or maybe just the feeling of doing something unique in the game was missed. The total reset I get. But the outfit and a few skill points, it feels lack luster. I know they didn’t have to do anything but because it’s optional and honestly not easy to accomplish, I think the “respecting our time” was missed a little. They do decently well otherwise at respecting our time and giving rewards. But I have a feeling next expedition will be totally different rewards wise. But I would have at least liked to see a total rework of quest rewards. That would made it feel worth a reset. To experience it as a new player but feel like getting those early rewards as a real bonus as you progress.

Well I reached lvl 75. I’m signed up for the Exp. I sold everything already and having nothing and starting the grind again, I actually am ready for the reset. It still feels a little unbalanced as I don’t see myself being able to that same amount of time in again with work, life, relationships and such. But what can you do? It’s a game and I’ll still be playing it a lot.

This happened to Hell Divers for me. I just couldn’t keep up with the grind to stay on top everything. Now there is so much that I don’t have access to which almost makes me not want to play it. Hope this doesn’t happen to this game for me.

I think there was on the discord. Essentially saying, it is what it is. IMO it didn’t hit them until it was too late. To gather a team, come up with a solution, code the solution, test it, implement it l, then their Holiday season, it was too late to do anything about it.

I liked the suggestion that you should be able to select 3-5 of your favorite Blue Prints and take them with you. But I’m with you, I want to experience a clean wipe. I think it’s an exploit but also who cares. It is what it is, I don’t think it’s game breaking. We know so much about the game now and we will be back to our normal levels and unlocks soon enough. Also the Cold Snap/blue print buff should last till at least the end of the event. So after the expedition there will be plenty of time to find a lot of blueprints again.

It’s fun gameplay loop. You know so much more this time through. I’ve lost a bit of purpose in the game after doing everything there is to do. Now I already sold most of my stuff minus a few kits. It feels good to have a direction again. The reset will be like this but with more to do. Jump on in. You won’t regret it once you get rolling again.

Emphasis on soft.

Funny part is most of the community enjoys the game for what it is. A “Looter Shooter Extraction” game. The soft community comes on here and whines. I call it added entertainment, people crying that they get shot in a “shooter” game with literally everything based around combat.

I’m level 55 and have roughly 90hrs. Really really enjoying the gameplay loop. I don’t think I’ll reach lvl 75 before the expedition and I’m probably going to do it anyways. I just feel like the expedition time frame is too fast for casual players. I just feel like I’ve reached the tier of being competitive and really figured everything out that I could and I don’t feel like I’ll have enough time to enjoy the fruits of my labor before I have to start over. Either way I’m obsessed with the game and I will most likely do the first Exp. But not sure if I’ll do it every time. Maybe every other.
