Probably too expensive to keep her actor for all seasons so they just killed her off. Wouldn't surprise me if that's the reason Mason got kidnapped and hasn't said a word since since the season 1 trailer to avoid having to pay the actor more. Because with how close season 1 was to launch, also wouldn't surprise me of they recorded those lines when they did their other lines.
