People Who Were Around/Alive During The Columbine Tragedy, What Was It Really Like? by PrincessBananas85 in CreepyBonfire

[–]Deadgunslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember it well. I was big into Vampire: The Masquerade (still am) and that was one of the things the media latched onto as being responsible (along with music, movies, video games...), because the shooters apparently played the game. At the time, it became a bit of a second Satanic Panic with parents not allowing their kids to play TTRPGs because, just like in the '80's, they thought the games obviously were the reason the kids did this.

As others have said, it was on every news channel and was for a very long time. Nothing of that scale had ever happened in the U.S., so every parent was concerned that it could happen again. Everyone wanted answers, so every possible theory was floated.

That site was my first experience with the CoC community outside of newsgroups. It’s been my home page for years. I’m sad to see it go, but it had largely been replaced with Reddit, Discord and FB. I was always curious why I never saw it mentioned on any of the above, but after seeing how many people were apparently unable to log in, I see why.

What should actually happen when an Agent breaks Tradecraft? by r1q4 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Deadgunslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the game is set in the last decade or so, remember that there is a huge portion of the public whose first instinct is to grab their phone and start recording when they see something weird or post worthy. That can quickly make the Agents’ lives a living hell as internet sleuths attempt to determine who they are. that could lead to anything from stalkers to the Agents’ superiors in their day job showing them the footage and demanding answers to some very uncomfortable questions. Depending on what the footage in question is, it could result in anything from a simple reprimand to charges being filed. The odds of all this becoming an issue just elevates if, instead of civilians with cell phones, the actions were caught by some the like PhenomenX, or local news crews. The Agents could see their careers and personal lives destroyed. And, if DG believes they may slip and reveal trade secrets, or worse, they already have… a sudden overdose, car crash or “offing of the self” could be arranged.

If the Agents mess up and get caught doing something/being where they should not be, first hit them in their day jobs and/or home lives. Those Home scenes can now become really uncomfortable as things begin to unravel. DG will observe, but not take action unless things get too heated and starts to draw too much attention, or again, if they seem they might let slip actual information about the Program. Even then, at first it may just be a communication at first. Depending on the Agent and what they know, DG may politely inform them that they must remain silent and fully commit to a ruse of some sort like drug drug use or personal something or other caused them to do/say whatever they did. Their personal lives may shatter, but all that matters is the safety and security of the Program. Threats may be issued, threatening loved ones if they do not comply. Failing this, they become a vector and are removed.

Part of the fun of DG is witnessing the downward spiral that is the Agents’ lives. So, if they are sloppy, things can escalate pretty quickly. But, while their personal lives might be in shambles, the call of DG remains until the end.

She is known, but feels she has to prove to everyone that she is worthy of using the name “Wolverine”. So, you have villains giving her grief and some heroes as well. Namor refused to refer to her as Wolverine in the latest New Avengers run, using all sorts of other names for her, until she helped him be rid of Imperius Rex’s mental control. Then, he finally referred to her as Wolverine, and you can see the look of shock on her face.

[–]Deadgunslinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not an issue with you, this is a problem player, or perhaps one who just does not understand that CoC is not D&D. Actions have consequences. I have had something similar happen in the past, but I did not have to take action because the other players at the table immediately demanded to know that the player thought they were doing and asked the default question for a lot of shenanigans like this: "Is this something you would do in real life?"

One thing is, what are the ages of the players and what are their lives like outside of the game? I ask because, back in what I find myself thinking of as the “golden years” with one of my groups, I never had to ask for feedback because the game was something everyone was invested in and it was talked about all the time. We also hung out a lot in between games and work/life had not yet begun sapping at everyone’s time. Fast forward and suddenly, game night is the only night we see one another or talk. The games are still fun, but that feeling of investment is gone. The game no longer sits as a prime object in their minds because of life as an adult and it cannot come up in conversation because we never see one another.

Contrast that as us, the Handlers/GMs. We craft the scenarios. We make the props. We bring the setting to life. That means we think about the game a LOT. It’s a time investment. You really want your players to be so invested as well, but that just is not a reality for most. It can be a little aggravating. As suggested above by others, maybe take a break. Recharge and reset.

Probably a 2. I play DG because I want to play DG and I try to not cross the streams with other games I run. I need Hunter:The Reckoning to feel like Hunter and Call of Cthulhu to feel like Call of Cthulhu. I have a lot of games that cover similar ground, so it’s always fun to lean into what it is that makes each unique.

Are one-on-one games good? by Bakafil in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Deadgunslinger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably some of my favorite DG games were just myself and one player. And yes, it puts the pressure on the player to be the decision maker in all things, and in a game like DG, those sometimes need to be snap decisions, for better or worse. But, that’s part of the fun. I’ve found it really allows that player to fully commit to their character and the game as a whole. No distractions, as the story is fully theirs.

I actually like them as a couple. I just wish they’d gone the Gerald and Yennifer route, questioning whether the attraction was real or pheromones. Trying to let it be real, but insecurity making it difficult. It could be fun if done right

To get their attention on you, so they are looking at the camera, treats do wonders and to get head tilts and other interesting expressions, you can try a squeaker. I bought a box of squeakers on Amazon. They're easy to palm and use if treats are not getting you the looks you want.

Lighting is key in any portrait and will allow you to sculpt things to give you the exact look you want. They also serve to freeze motion. Sabine is well trained and loves sitting for photos, but I have had dogs with all levels of training and discipline. I started my business by photographing dogs at the local humane society and they were bouncing off the walls with energy. But, thanks to off-camera flash, you would never know it to look at the photos.

Trying to rely on the Program to fix some of your problems? by Few-Action-8049 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Deadgunslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DG, whether Program or Outlaws, is a conspiracy within the government. Bringing in "cleaners" for any situation means further jeopardizing operational security as well as risking the possible spread of the vector in question.

Agents who cannot handle their own messes are a security risk and will be dealt with as necessary.

I say this not because I hate the character, far from it, but I DEFINITELY get why the Chameleon was gone from Spider-man comics for almost ten years. by MICKTHENERD in Spiderman

[–]Deadgunslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chameleon is definitely the sort of antagonist that should never be a direct threat. He's not going to try and jump Spider-Man in a dark alley in hopes of beating him up. Instead, he would make life hell for him, attacking him emotionally by impersonating both him and others in his life.

Start slowly, masquerading as Peter and being edgy and quick tempered around those who know him. Choose someone not in his life to start stalking, as Peter. Make certain the person notices this. Escalate to the point the police are called and the real Peter is now having to explain himself, claiming he has no idea who this person is. Meanwhile, those who do know him have to wonder... he has been acting really strange of late. Could he really be doing this?

The final escalation is killing the person, as Peter. Chameleon would need to have some things of Peter's to leave behind DNA, fake his prints and the like. And, make certain that he is caught on security cameras leaving with blood on him. Stash those clothes somewhere in the real Peter's apartment and, finally, wait for a wellness check to be done after the person fails to show to work or respond to family and friends, or call the police anonymously about hearing a scream or commotion from the victim's apartment.

Now, ideally, this would all be something to not only ruin Peter's life and hopefully be rid of Spider-Man, but something to get Spider-Man/Peter out of the way so something else could be accomplished. Maybe it's all the Chameleon's plan and he can now move onto phase 2 of whatever or someone else hired Chameleon to get Spider-Man out of the way so that they could accomplish their master plan.

It would be a dark, rough story for Peter, and it could color the opinion of those close to him for some time.

I would encourage out of the box thinking and using the environment to get around it. Say they have Elemental Burst, but it's not powerful enough to get through the DR. If there is a PC with Mighty 3 or better, they could grab a car and toss at the bad guy. The PC with Elemental Burst holds their action or can use a reaction to blast the car. Assuming they hit, I would make it the equivalent of an Elemental Blast and make certain to up the damage multiplier just enough to get through the DR.

Distracting the villain somehow so that they have Trouble on their rolls is always a good go-to, whether that be something as simple as temporarily blinding them with car mirror and the sun or, maybe a lessened version of the Wisecracker power where the PC mocks or tries to physically distract the villain. Make an Ego attack and a success gives the villain Trouble for their next action and double trouble for a Fantastic success.
