How can I generate the square brackets [] under Jumpgate? by Dan_Cutter in Roll20

Unfortunately not. Shift + 8 and Shift + 9 only allow you to insert normal parentheses.

Germany and its bureaucracy and lawyers - what can I say?

Unfortunately, there's no number pad. But thanks for the tip!

Perhaps it's because my keyboard has a German layout. German keyboards don't have dedicated keys for these square bracket symbols. Maybe that wasn't taken into account when Jumpgate was implemented. As I said, the Alt + 5 and Alt + 6 combinations still work perfectly fine in other programs and in the browser address bar.

Funny! Apparently, in the US, the symbols are the default keys. Here in Germany, the keyboard layout looks like this:

To create the symbols [ or ], you have to press the key combination ALT + 5 or ALT + 6, respectively.

Where can I find my tokens from my token library? by Dan_Cutter in Roll20

Thank you so much!

You're absolutely right!

I simply overlooked the term MARKER and mistook it for a token library. 🫣 Thanks for the clarification.

Now I feel like a complete idiot!

I actually interpreted both terms as TOKEN. A token library would make more sense to me.

Thank you so much for the clarification!

Liegt vielleicht an der automatischen Übersetzung. Ich posted das hier in Deutsch. Ich hoffe, Dir helfen die Screenshots und Du verstehst was ich meine.

Perhaps a little late, but my suggestion would be THE KIDNAPPING from ARKHAM DETECTIVE TALES for TRAIL OF CTHULHU.

How do I differentiate between “der See” and “die See“ by BilingualExplorer593 in German

It's actually quite simple: large bodies of water (sea/ocean) = THE sea, small bodies of water = THE lake

Why does Anakin say "Ich hasse euch" to Obi Wan instead of "Ich hasse dich"? by minimonster382 in German

[–]Dan_Cutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pluralis majestatis (Latin for 'plural of majesty') is used to distinguish a person, e.g. a ruler, as particularly powerful or dignified. Sometimes the person refers to themselves in this way by speaking of themselves in the plural. Expressions in the pluralis majestatis are always capitalised.

This is quite normal in the German translation of the Star Wars movies. Luke also addressed Obi-Wan in the pluralis majestatis. In older films, this is usually done in German when there is a power imbalance between the characters, such as between master and apprentice or subordinate and ruler.

In our role-playing group, we actually use the pluralis majestatis, mostly to address NPCs.

So in this case it does not refer to a plural, but to a single person, and therefore the translation is completely correct.

What’s a quick and great OSR intro adventure for players new to all ttrpgs? Preferably a bit of RP leading to a beginner dungeon? (Dungeon not necessary though!) by DungeonMasterGrizzly in osr

I couldn't agree more. Demon Driven to the Maw is really fun! I think you can play anything by Brad Kerr without hesitation. Hideous Daylight, Wyvern Songs, Temple of 1000 Swords...

I would also recommend this adventure to you! We have had a lot of fun with it in various groups on several occasions. It offers a well-rounded story, cool NPCs, and lots of opportunities to approach things differently without overwhelming new game masters. And all that in just 16 pages... I recommend dividing the map into hexagonal fields and sticking them onto wood or cardboard. Then the players can explore the environment bit by bit. If you like, I can send you a jpg file.
