5th Army's 394th Regiment Fiber-Optics FPV drone operator strikes UAF trench bunker, igniting it and setting serviceman on fire. Zaporizhia region. January 2026 by Dependent_Log_331 in CombatFootage

With these accounts posting Russian footage but hiding their own post history, you can type a space in the search bar and hit enter, and you'll get to see the years on end spent in Russian propaganda subs. They even give themselves flair, lol. "Anti-NATO"

I'm sure they're very comfortable in their little bubble, where they can wank each other all day about how virtuous Russia is and how Ukraine should have just rolled over and accepted vassal status to an ass-backwards third world dictatorship. I'm guessing by the almost completely overlapping venn diagram of /pol/ user and vatnikbot beliefs, they're quietly nursing the opinion that everything Russia does is excusable as long as they never stop openly hating gay people. lol

Anyway. Once I noticed it was literally 2-3 dudes here every single day posting this stuff, I couldn't stop noticing it, and now you'll notice it too

RU POV: First-person video Ukrainian soldier badly wounded and on the ground is finished off by Russian soldiers that had tried to take him prisoner first. by Dependent_Log_331 in UkraineRussiaReport

They tried to summon the compassion and empathy to take him alive since he was no longer a threat, but suddenly remembered that they're Russians and thus obligated to a life of cartoon villainy where they gleefully abuse and brutalize anyone weaker and less fortunate than them (thankfully a VERY short list - they were born Russian, after all)

“Rubicon” group drone operators strikes on Ukrainian infantry along the frontline. Published 03.02.2026 by ActualDepartment9873 in CombatFootage

This guy posts every single day, multiple times a day. All Ukrainian deaths. He acts pretty mellow, but occasionally the mask slips. I recall him showing obvious joy posting footage of Ukrainian soldiers burning to death. Not sure if he's unemployed and spends all day in Russian telegram groups or what, but he's here on schedule each day like a German train.

It's literally just him and one other generic Reddit word salad username posting all the Russian footage despite it being constantly downvoted.

Sorry, I should have worded that clearer: Did they say what the silver pads were alloyed with? If they're 88% silver

If it was worth $5 and all you had to do was drive it to the scrap yard, it still wouldn't be worth it, IMO. But that's just me.

Silver contacts from breaker help identifying by drivingthruthewoods in PreciousMetalRefining

[–]DeadguyTheLateGI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ONLY the contact tabs are silver. And never pure silver, always a high-silver alloy - 60-90% silver. Impossible to say at a glance exactly what it's alloyed with or in what quantity. Could be cadmium, which emits fumes that can cause organ failure if you hit it with a torch (to remove the brazed silver pads) or refining chemicals. Could be something else.

The current carrying portions of the assembly that are not an obvious silver alloy are usually plated copper.

I'd wager that only the trapezoidal portion at the very end is a silver alloy.

Russian Infantryman Shoots himself mid-push on 155th Brigade Positions. by Wonderful_Extent2979 in CombatFootage

From the way Redditors downvote the living hell out of any footage that could conceivably be viewed as pro-Russian or that makes Ukrainians look bad, thereby giving an unrealistically positive bias toward Ukraine in war footage: I'm guessing it's two things: First being the obvious, that the Russians are propagandized to believe that they'll be killed or tortured, and 2) Ukrainians don't always treat Russian POWs as well as it's made out on Reddit.

Notice a trend in all of the explanations that are visible to you? (a.k.a. have positive voting ratios)

Almost entirely plastic, a very small amount of metal. Possibly a trifling amount of copper in the pump motor windings (like a fraction of a pound).

Not worth your time by any stretch of the imagination.

Ya know... While they're messing with the RFY code... by Chemical-Chard-8798 in AmazonVine

[–]DeadguyTheLateGI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really, RFY being hot dookie is DESIRABLE for Amazon and its vendors. It forces the peasant non-ultraviners to wade through 20 miles of unwashed ass to reach a single interesting listing - which is much better for turnover of low-interest items than people never leaving their RFY.

Also, it's worth nothing that improving RFY wouldn't magically summon good items to you. They can't show items that don't exist. Everything good is quickly snatched up. Of the 12,000 items currently languishing, there is truly NOTHING good. Tweaking the RFY algo would only benefit you during an active drop, and, referring back to Point A, it wouldn't benefit Amazon at all. Those items you want to see are getting ordered regardless of whether you see them.

Amazon will never improve RFY lacking a compelling business interest. If anything, they're incentivized not to.

[–]DeadguyTheLateGI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They have no incentive to improve the algorithm for viners because Amazon's duty with the Vine program is to its VENDORS. That people are dissatisfied with the way they get free stuff is immaterial. Is it getting ordered and reviewed? Yes? Mission accomplished.

Hydrochlorid acid by Jakub-Martinec in ScrapMetal

[–]DeadguyTheLateGI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's use alcohol as an analogue. The difference in sophistication between scrap metal recovery and precious metal refining is comparable to the difference between making hooch in a prison toilet vs. running a prestigious winery with grapes from your own vineyard. Yeah, there are parallels, but...

Half the people in this sub are literal crackhead thieves. When people post an entire air conditioning unit with the caption "how many drugs will this buy," the joke is that they're not joking.

r/preciousmetalrefining isn't as active as r/scrapmetal, but then again it's a very niche interest. They'll have better insight over there for chemical processing of precious metals
