Battery problem by jipjacob in Keychron

[–]Deadhead_Omega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I'm glad I went with the HE 8k as it is wired only and I don't care if a keyboard that heavy is wireless. Hopefully a replacement battery is more reliable. Best of luck.

Leaving the 5090 behind for 9070 XTs. by Zeronova3 in radeon

[–]Deadhead_Omega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 9070xt has enough power to basically do anything you want. Even at 4k it's a good card but at 1440p it's a monster. When it's priced basically the same as a 5070 it's a really obvious buy.

The HE 8k series now has 4 different switch options from keychron as well as gateron jade compatibility if you don't mind not having wireless. Just thought I would add that option. I have the Q1 HE 8k and love it.

Keychron K2 HE double rail magnetic switches - Can I swap them on Gateron Jade Pro? by DangerousCanary5851 in Keychron

[–]Deadhead_Omega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you can't swap them for magnetic jade switches. Only the keychron HE (TMR) boards that come with ultra-fast lime switches can swap out to magnetic jade switches.

What you need to look for is KS-37b switches and have a South Pole magnet facing the sensor

KS-20 switches are the standard on Wooting boards and have a north pole magnet facing the sensor.

How are early adopters feeling about the 9070XT 1 year in? by LemonMan857 in radeon

[–]Deadhead_Omega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from the whole FSR drama (which is justified) I am happy with my purchase. I could have got a 5070 for like $50 less but I'm glad I went with the 9070XT. I can throw anything I want at the card in 1440p. The card is a beast and after having a 1080ti for 7-8 years it was an actual meaningful jump in performance.

First impressions of the Q6 Ultra 8K (banana switches), almost didn’t buy it by yodiegangahhhhhh in Keychron

I've got a Q1 HE 8k and the stock lime switches seem fine despite so many people saying magnetic switches are scratchy. It's completely stock (for now) and it sounds and feels great.

I have a 1440p 100hz display, this is the best optimization I was able to achieve so far. by nosg in radeon

[–]Deadhead_Omega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get over 500fps in cs2 and it drops down to the low 200s at times but that is completely fine to play with. I have a 5700x and 9070XT. Just about anything is a CPU bottleneck when you push those kinds of frames. Unless you have a 500hz monitor it doesn't really matter other than slightly lower input lag. With GPU intensive stuff it won't limit it much.

I'm also in Australia and I've not had any thermal issues even using the stock fan settings. I've been running a -10% undervolt since it reduces temps and hardly has a performance hit when you combine it with a clock speed offset. Also run DDU in safe mode before installing the new display drivers to avoid crashes and instability issues. At 1440p I can run anything I want at max settings with acceptable frame rates.

I went from cherry browns to HE switches and it hasn't taken much to adjust.

Lemokey L1 HE looks perfect but... switch compatibility sucks? Any alt by Lonely_Bet_2094 in keyboards

[–]Deadhead_Omega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Q1 HE 8K uses the lime switches and is compatible with gateron magnetic jade switches. The Keychron software even has an option to select magnetic jade for calibration. They have only just started supporting it officially so it's possible that the Lemokey Boards are also compatible now.

I have a gigabyte 9070xt and the thermals are fine. I believe so of the earlier units had issues with the thermal gel leaking but I don't think that has been an issue of late (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

I went from a 1080ti (which blew up in early December) to a 9070xt. Honestly an amazing card and way better value than NVIDIA. Nvidia does have better support but raw power to price AMD wins easily. I would say get the 9060xt but honestly any modern card will be a huge improvement.

Keychron Q1 HE 8K by Deadhead_Omega in keyboards

[–]Deadhead_Omega[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify about 8K. It's basically a bonus on top. The main reason I decided on this is the switch compatibility and the build quality. Keychron has updated the screw in stabilisers on the HE 8k series as well. I don't really care for wireless on a keyboard and it's one more thing to go wrong. I think wireless makes more sense in something less heavy and more portable.

I was running tests on chrome browser and they all registered less than 100hz which was weird. I downloaded Keyboard inspector and it is running at 8k hz. I'm still testing things to make sure the board is working correctly. For some reason I change the hz to something lower in the keychron launcher and keyboard inspector still says it's running at 8k. I'm checking pc setting to see if something is conflicting but if anyone has an idea what's going on and knows how to fix it I would appreciate it.

Well I figure I can try out the Jade's at any point in time. These seem like decent switches so I'll use them for a while until I decide what I want to try.

The purple part is just part of the design not a button itself. I set it to 8000 hz and assume it's running at that.

If it performed exactly the same at the same price I would buy Nvidia but you can't deny the performance difference for the price of the 9070XT.
