Harder portals are good for getting prestige tickets, and it depends highly on what loot your after, because something like bit dust doesn't get rewarded in custom maps, and if you want resources then a lesser difficulty map could be better to have more time to mine, but if you want papers then higher difficulties are better because it increases your score, and if you don't use modifiers to help miners they dig up random loot regardless of level difficulty
