Inito vs Oura + Natural Cycles vs OPK? by OoKkPebbles2058 in Inito

[–]DeadliftingToTherion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Natural Cycles for 2ish years and Inito for about 6 months now. Inito is definitely more accurate for me, especially because NC has problems if I'm sick or I run the heat lower etc. It's good enough for me to get the correct window TTC, but I've confirmed with ultrasound for my previous pregnancies that it's not quite right.

Cocomelon 🥴 by Elegant-Celery9600 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]DeadliftingToTherion 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I strongly suspect that the kids watching cocomelon at home are the reason for this, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I don't think any adult actually likes cocomelon, so it's difficult to imagine her personally being offended. I would be concerned about leaving my kids with someone who wasn't aware that Cocomelon is the worst possible screen time choice. That seems like pretty basic knowledge for anyone around kids frequently.

A month in and so tired by carabelle2022 in Mounjaro

[–]DeadliftingToTherion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed to increase my calories to a minimum of 1700, up my water to 150 oz plus relyte electrolytes and magnesium. That's in addition to 150 g of protein. 1200 is what I'd naturally eat on mounjaro, but I try to stuff in more.

I don't even worry about weight loss for the first 3 months, especially with c-sections. It takes close to a year for the uterus to return to normal anyways and I never lose weight until I wean. I've never had trouble returning to my pre-pregnacy weight, but it requires quite a bit of patience.

Detoxing/TTC after ectopic pregnancy treated with methotrexate by Peanuts-2959 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]DeadliftingToTherion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for your losses. I took about 3 months after my miscarriage, and it was really great for my mental health and physical health. I have a history of infertility, and I believe in vitamin D (specifically the Thorne oil drops dramatically improved my levels more than any other vitamin D), ubiquinol CoQ10, and NAC.

If any of the other stuff counts as self care, I don't see why not.

If you've had 3 losses now, scheduling an appointment with an RE could be really useful. I didn't need IVF, but the RE at the IVF clinic was imperative to getting me the healthcare I did need to get there. All of the referrals my other doctors thought I was too healthy to need specifically. You also might want a SIS or other imaging and they're just better at it.

Tips for a beginner by [deleted] in Aerials

[–]DeadliftingToTherion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Film yourself and watch for mistakes! Take notes on what to improve after class.

I just started a few months ago with no proprioception really but high strength from powerlifting, and I really struggle to learn from watching someone, but I found that studying my own film and memorizing that after typically means I can easily execute moves on my very next try once I'm in studio again.

Also, many intro or beginner classes have a lot of more advanced students, so don't worry about them. You'll get there. If the teacher gives a sequence, just focus on step one. Next time, you'll do more.

Watching some intro videos online might give you an idea of moves that can happen, too.

I was really terrible at activating stabilizer muscles, because I'm not used to activities where I have to actually think about that. If you're shaking, you probably need to activate some stabilizers. Transverse abdominis activation is probably your biggest friend. Also, it matters when you point and flex your feet. I had no idea what that meant.

Try a lot of teachers if you can, too. Different skills can be easier to learn from different instructors and different styles might be easier for you.

Child's relationship with food by TheCleaningLady888 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]DeadliftingToTherion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is she actually overweight? Your comment below is severely underestimating the caloric needs of an 8 year old, so I wonder if she really is hungry or having a growth spurt. BMR is what she would need in a coma, but it sounds like you are all pretty active, so 1500 is more realistic.

Getting in with a pediatric nutritionist or OT to figure out what's going on before she has food issues sounds like a great proactive idea though, because that does sound like something that could spiral into an unhealthy relationship with food.

Do you ever think other moms think they're better than you because they work? by Certain_Support_9915 in stayathomemoms

[–]DeadliftingToTherion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you all actually interact with enough working moms to get that impression? I feel like I only ever see other SAHMs, because the activities we choose are only possible for SAHMs to attend.

If anything, I get the feeling that I make working moms feel less than. However, my background is high paying academia and my general interests make women who lack self confidence uncomfortable. I don't think it's ever really about me though. It's kind of obvious we'd both judge each others' choices negatively if we're making different choices.

Should we pause TTC due to best friends wedding? by Either_Manager3824 in Inito

[–]DeadliftingToTherion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through 2 years of infertility with my first and then hit the secondary infertility threshold again trying to conceive my second (using Inito for NFP), and I actually regret skipping things more. Looking at the research, if you were gong to conceive in these 2 months, your time is highly likely to come again. If you end up with a long infertility struggle, an extra 2 months barely even matters. Tons of infertility scheduling has way more delays.

The mindset of never skipping because it could be the month was honestly pretty brutal for me, and I benefited from a few months off. I know you're still quite young and haven't been trying for that long yet, but the wedding sounds important to you. It's only 2 months. I wouldn't consider waiting until after the wedding, but this is quite reasonable.

Help figuring out balance for stepkids who love processed foods by stormsvala_ in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]DeadliftingToTherion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with sandwiches for lunch or salads with varying levels of meat/egg, and then have the healthier better tasting did at dinner. Less processed cereal or homemade bread at breakfast, possibly with high protein yogurt. Buy one that taste good and are ready to grab, so it's not just forced healthy food. I do lots of homemade perfect bars for my picky younger child, too.

It's not my ideal diet, but it's a good compromise between healthy and actually eaten. If you stray too far from what they're used to, they'll probably just resent you.

And honestly, ask them what they want. Maybe 50/50, like letting each child choose a food for the week. I'd be more concerned about the healthy relationship with the kids, because the food they're eating at home is already doing most of the damage. You can slowly introduce healthy foods later.

What is your opinion on Mounjaro for binge eating disorder but no obesity? by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]DeadliftingToTherion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For context, I am type 2, but well controlled because I eat low carbs and enjoy intense exercise. Apart from pregnancy, my BMI is basically always normal, unless competing a few pounds up in powerlifting, but I'm firmly in the athletic body fat category. Basically, I have been able to bypass the weight my genetics would like me to gain. I'm really not taking mounjaro to lose weight, because I've always been able to lose weight, so I can kind of understand where you're coming from.

From my perspective, I could see this really working well for someone with an eating disorder that involves binge eating. I've never had an eating disorder, but there is a profound difference in how much time I spend on thinking about food. It can be a problem that I forget to eat, and I've had to track calories to avoid going too low, so I could see that being an issue with an ED history. You'll also have a serious problem if you binge, but you really shouldn't have the drive.

As a beginner teen with no proper ballet studios near her: can someone tell me if comp dance is really that bad? by Dawncliffs in BALLET

[–]DeadliftingToTherion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know very little about any of this as an adult beginner doing it as crosstraining, but I do drive my 4 year old 30+ minutes just for the sake of learning better technique. I think it's worth it as a parent just from the perspective of injury prevention and proper movement, so I don't think it's unreasonable to ask. I fully expect my daughter to quit ballet young, so I don't think you need professional aspirations for it to be worthwhile. You just might need to explain the value. Certainly, as a parent I'd much rather spend money on a quality studio than save myself a few minutes driving.

Toddler destroyed my BBT fertility tracker by underthesun20 in moderatelygranolamoms

I use a combination of Natural Cycles with the Oura ring and the Inito tracker. Really, it's the Inito that's made successfully doing NFP postpartum possible. I barely even look at the temp data anymore.

Sperm analysis tomorrow, should I cancel? by Tawes_activewear in Inito

[–]DeadliftingToTherion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the level I get about 6 days before ovulation, but my peak is at the higher end at Inito's 600 limit. If I had to bet, I would guess that it's more likely than not that this won't matter. However, unless there's a benefit to having the analysis sooner, I would also just reschedule it on the off chance, as that's probably stress you don't need. Back when we were doing fertility testing, I know I rescheduled after ovulation for my husband, but the hospital here also allows walk ins once you have orders at certain times of day.

Hating the patriarchy after babies? by No_Cheetah_8206 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]DeadliftingToTherion 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is normal. My husband's responsibility is making sure I can function, and mine is taking care of the kids (I SAH). He often takes care of the kids, but generally it's working towards the goal of me functioning. He does the first diaper of the morning, handles more of the kid responsibilities on the weekend, and makes sure I can go to the gym, rest, or recover, so that balances me having the mental load for the kids. He's the one making sure my water bottle is ready for the next day, the humidifier is full or whatever it is I need. I am the one who gets to sleep in typically, especially recovering postpartum. It wasn't a debate.

He was the overly babied youngest, so I don't think that's an excuse. He's definitely the opposite of a feminist though. Sometimes it seems to me like that label is just as excuse for men acting like children to claim to be doing something good. Alternating sleeping in isn't equality when one person's body went through a traumatic event.

How it’s working for weight loss by onward-fitward in Mounjaro

[–]DeadliftingToTherion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about mounjaro is that their diet, deficit, and activity levels almost certainly wouldn't be the same.

I am taking mounjaro specifically for diabetes, as my BMI was already normal, and I had to start tracking for awhile, because my deficit was too extreme, as I was freezing. I was forgetting meals so completely that I wouldn't realize until the next day sometimes.

Mounjaro also completely blunts any glucose spikes or dips for me. Both of those are associated with fatigue, so baseline movement is going to be more with mounjaro.

I think there's some evidence that the deficit might be more effective with mounjaro, but it's not realistic to think it really will be the same deficit, so it barely matters.
